However, he has since been ruled out playing for the forseeable after being forced to go under the knife.
He wrote on Instagram: "Operation done.. Just as I was starting to get my confidence back and enjoy rugby league again, it's taken away, but that's life."
Admitting regrets over quitting rugby to follow his ex into Love Island in 2022, Jacques said: "Four years I stupidly had out the game, being an idiot chasing a life that wasn't for me.
"The result of that was that I ended up in a pretty dark place and losing myself.
"I was putting off returning to play because of the comments from others saying I had no chance to play again, saying \he's had too long out' etc, comments about where I was at mentally & physically.
"The truth is, I doubted myself too. At first I didn't think I would have ever been able to play again the state I got myself in to.
"I remember the first couple of months back driving home from training questioning myself if I still had it in me or not but as soon as I got a good team behind me, got rid of all distractions my mindset started to change.
"Even though my first season back hasn't gone to plan, I'm grateful for the life lessons I've had the last few years.
"Every setback has taught me something valuable. It's built me up. Not just as a player, but as a person
"I'll be back hungrier than ever."

On Friday night, Toni seemingly accused Emily of being nosey, with the two women going head to head. Toni was seen chatting to Meg saying: "I can't listen to her. 'Little Miss Sunshine' all the time." Elsewhere in the episode, Toni said: "Emily's just f**king nosey." And then, in tonight's episode, things came to a head when Shakira got involved. 'I feel like in situations, it's a case of reading the room a little bit…I feel like you've not made an effort with us,' Shakira said to Emily. Later when Shakira mentions Toni having a bad day, Emily hits back. "Just cause she's in a bad mood doesn't mean I can't be in a good mood…you should have come to me," Emily said. The two don't agree and leave things there but when Shakira hears Emily telling the group about their conversation, the argument is reignited. Shakira then pulled Emily aside to say she sometimes finds her "bitchy". All the girls just bullying one another it's disgusting," added a second. A third then slammed: "Bullying at its b**ches." While a fourth wrote: "What the hell is that argument about then with shakira, Toni and Emily? It's about nothing. "All it looks like is both Toni and Shakira are bullying Emily." A fifth then penned: "No not being funny but any girls would go tell their girls about an argument they had just had. "Toni and shakira are the real bullies here." While a sixth said: "Emily hasn't done anything to deserve this. "Shakira and Toni are bullies. Simple. So unattractive."

Man United 'stepping up shock move for Everton flop but may face competition from Saudi clubs for £44.5m star' as Ruben Amorim targets new striker

Former Everton striker Moise Kean is reportedly on Manchester United 's radar. Kean enjoyed a resurgence at Fiorentina last season after a difficult spell at Goodison Park. The 25-year-old scored 19 goals and provided three assists in 32 Serie A appearances, helping the club secure a European place. According to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, United are now monitoring Kean's situation with increasing interest. The Italian forward is understood to have a £44.5million release clause and is also attracting attention from Saudi side Al Qadsiah. It remains unclear whether Kean would be open to a move to the Middle East, although a lucrative offer could tempt him. United are in the market for a new striker, with Rasmus Hojlund having struggled to make an impact since his big-money move to Old Trafford. Sporting Lisbon's Victor Gyokeres, a target who previously worked with Ruben Amorim, is said to prefer a move to Arsenal, while Liam Delap has already opted to join Chelsea over United. Kean's first spell in the Premier League with Everton failed to live up to expectations. Signed as a highly-rated youngster, he struggled to adapt to life in England and was criticised for his attitude. His struggles were perhaps best summed up when then-interim manager Duncan Ferguson substituted him just 18 minutes after bringing him on during a match against United at Old Trafford. Kean managed only four goals in 39 appearances for the Toffees before a loan spell at Paris Saint-Germain and then a permanent move to Juventus.

Food-shaped candles are latest dinner party trend

If you see some half-melted strawberry tarts or unsavoury-looking fried chicken strewn across the table when you arrive at your next dinner party, don't be alarmed. Your host has not forgotten to clear up their last meal. They are trying to impress you with the latest middle-class homeware trend: food-shaped candles. Selfridges reports that food-shaped candles are now its fastest-selling table decoration and it has had to treble its range to meet demand. A triple layer cake candle weighing more than 2kg is one of the offerings at Selfridges SELFRIDGES The department store said candles in the form of a lemon, a fried egg and red grapes are among its top sellers. Candles that resemble a string of sausages, a slice of Gruyere, a baguette or a strawberry tart are also in strong demand. Prices range from £17 to £95. Leading the unusual trend is Laila Gohar, an Egyptian artist known for transforming ordinary food into striking sculptural and interactive installations, such as a rope of braided mozzarella and a swan made of artichoke leaves. One of Gohar's most popular food candles resembles, quite convincingly, a tin of biscuits. She also sells a set of strawberry candles, although none of her creations come cheap. Her set of four fried chicken candles, thankfully unscented, will set buyers back £38, significantly more than a bucket of the real thing from KFC. Fried chicken candles from Gohar World SELFRIDGES The striking creations have taken social media by storm and the hashtag #foodcandle has had tens of millions of views on TikTok. Some enterprising food influencers have even crossed the line into making edible candles. Erin Dittmer's video on how to make a 'butter candle' has been viewed more nearly 14 million times. This involves pouring melted butter and herbs into a paper cup containing an edible wick and then freezing it. Once solid, the paper cup is torn away, the lump of butter placed in a hole torn out of a farmhouse loaf and the wick set alight. The butter slowly melts down the bread, creating a delicious if messy snack. These include a 'pink pudding' candle at £45, a banana candle at £18 and green apple candle at £18. Selfridges said the strong interest in the candles is part of a wider trend for 'foodie decorations'. Last Christmas, for example, the store doubled its range of food and drink shaped baubles to meet demand. Gregory Krum, buying manager at Selfridges, said: 'If you want to bring a fun talking point to your dinner table, now is the time to think beyond the traditional candle.'
