Juno Joule Green Energy, Germany's Select Energy to invest Rs 10,000 crore in green hydrogen, ammonia facility in AP
HYDERABAD: Vijayawada-based renewable energy player Juno Joule Green Energy Pvt Ltd has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with German clean energy company Select Energy GmbH to co-develop an export-oriented green hydrogen and ammonia facility in Andhra Pradesh at an investment of US$1.3 billion (approx.
Rs 10,000 crore).
The project, which will come up near Mulapeta port along the country's east coast, will be developed in three phases and aims to produce around 180 KTPA (kilo tonnes per annum) of green hydrogen by 2029, which will be converted into up to one million tons of green ammonia annually for export.
Construction on the project, which will be built to meet stringent EU RFNBO (EU Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin) norms, is expected to commence in 2026.
The project is expected to generate around 5000 to 6,000 direct and indirect jobs across operations, construction, logistics, and support sectors.
It will also lead to technology transfer, upskilling of local talent, and the emergence of AP and Telangana region as a clean energy hub on the global map, the company said.
The facility will include an advanced desalination plant to sustainably source high-purity water from seawater, electrolysers powered by a diversified mix of solar, wind, and hydropower, and port-connected pipeline infrastructure for efficient large-scale exports.

‘Yogi ji gave me biscuit, chocolate': UP CM Yogi Adityanath helps young girl enroll in school during Janta Darshan — watch
LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath held a 'Janta Darshan' in Lucknow on Monday, where he met a young girl named Vashi who requested help with school admission. During the interaction, the CM asked her which school she wished to join and the class she wanted to enrol in. He then directed officials to ensure her admission to the school of her choice. Vashi, who met CM Yogi Adityanath, narrated the entire interaction and said, "I met Yogi ji. I asked him to enrol me in a school. He said he would do it." "I have come from Moradabad. He gave me a biscuit and chocolate", Vashi added further. Since becoming the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath has regularly conducted 'Janta Darshan' events to listen to and address public grievances. — ANI (@ANI) Earlier, the CM inaugurated the 91.35-km-long Gorakhpur Link Expressway, constructed at a cost of Rs 7,283 crore. The expressway connects several districts, including Azamgarh, to Gorakhpur. Highlighting the state's development, Yogi Adityanath said that the new Uttar Pradesh is carving out a new identity as the "Expressway State" in a new India. "The new Uttar Pradesh of the new India is making its new identity as the 'express-way state. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trading CFD dengan Teknologi dan Kecepatan Lebih Baik IC Markets Mendaftar Undo "The inauguration of the 91.35 km long Gorakhpur Link Expressway is a historic moment for eastern Uttar Pradesh. Under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh is taking new heights of development, confidence and glory with the largest expressway network in the country," said CM Yogi. Criticising the previous state government, Yogi Adityanath that the Agra-Lucknow Expressway was only half completed under their tenure. In contrast, he highlighted that during his government's tenure, projects related to six expressways in Uttar Pradesh have been successfully completed. "The work on the Agra Lucknow Expressway was half done. Today, I am happy to tell you that we have completed six projects. You are witnessing the journey of the Purvanchal Expressway. We have been continuously building it since 2021. In 2022, the Bundelkhand Expressway was started. It is 300 km long. The 340 km long Purvanchal Expressway has already been completed, and its connectivity to Patna is about to be completed. Now remember how easy the connectivity from Patna to Lucknow and Lucknow to Delhi will become", CM Yogi said. He stated that the 340 km-long Purvanchal Expressway is set to extend its connectivity to Patna. Referring to freedom fighter Veer Kunwar Singh, he remarked that had the Purvanchal Expressway existed in 1857, India might have achieved independence back then. "When Veer Kunwar Singh, the hero of the first war of independence in 1857, fought the British till Azamgarh to defeat them, there was no connectivity. If this Purvanchal Expressway had been there at that time, the people of Azamgarh would have beaten the British along with Veer Kunwar Singh, and then this country would have become independent in 1857 itself. There was no connectivity at that time", he added.

Domestic defence manufacturing reduced dependency on India's global imports from 11% to 4% over past 14 years: Report
New Delhi [India], June 23 (ANI): Traditionally heavily reliant on foreign suppliers for defence equipment, India has significantly reduced its dependence on defence imports over the last 14 years, marking a major shift in its defence strategy and policy. According to a report by Kotak Mutual Fund, India, which in 2010 was the largest importer of defence equipment, slipped to fourth place in 2024. In 2010, India accounted for 11 per cent of the world's total defence imports, making it the top importer globally. Pakistan, with 9 per cent, Australia, at 6 per cent, and South Korea, at 5 per cent, followed suit. Countries like Saudi Arabia, the United States, Singapore, and China each had a 4 per cent share, while Algeria and Portugal accounted for 3 per cent each. The remaining 47 per cent was shared among other countries. The report stated that this decline is the result of India's focus on indigenisation and strengthening domestic defence manufacturing. As per the 2024 data, Ukraine has become the world's largest importer of defence equipment accounting for 18 per cent of the global imports. This sharp rise has been attributed to to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, which has pushed Ukraine's demand for military equipment. Poland has emerged as the second-largest importer, with a 5 per cent share of global imports, followed by the United States in third place, with a 4 per cent share. India now shares the fourth position along with Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and Australia, each holding a 4 per cent share of global imports. Other countries, like Japan and Pakistan, each account for 3 per cent of the global imports. The 'Others' category, which includes all remaining nations, remained unchanged at 47 per cent in both 2010 and 2024. This major change highlighted India's defence manufacturing progress and reduced dependency on foreign arms. The Kotak report also noted that the government's push for domestic defence production has helped reduce imports and improved defence exports. India's defence exports have seen strong growth in recent years, registering a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 41 per cent since 2017. The exports have increased from Rs 15 billion in 2017 to Rs 236 billion in 2024. The report concluded that India's defence sector is becoming more self-reliant, contributing to both national security and economic growth. (ANI)
