EC-Council Continues Its Initiative-Driven Momentum, Supporting CyberSHE to Strengthen Women's Participation in Cybersecurity
The cybersecurity industry continues to evolve rapidly, demanding a skilled and diverse talent pipeline to address growing threats. In a strategic effort to expand access to world-class cybersecurity education across the Middle East, EC-Council, the global leader in cybersecurity training and the creator of the world-renowned Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) credential, has partnered with CyberSHE to deliver impactful technical training and career development opportunities for aspiring women professionals across the region.
CyberSHE, an initiative by Women in CyberSecurity Middle East (WiCSME), was launched at Kuwait College of Science and Technology (KCST). The initiative brings together leaders from government, academia, and industry to deliver focused training, mentorship, and structured career pathways for women seeking to build technical capability and pursue careers in cybersecurity. By equipping more women with cutting-edge skills, the program is helping to unlock new perspectives and build stronger, more inclusive cyber teams across the region.

CyberSHE is a four-week program built around EC-Council's internationally respected certifications. Participants undertake technical training through the Certified Cybersecurity Technician (CCT), Certified Network Defender (CND), and Certified SOC Analyst (CSA) programs. The hands-on, lab-driven curriculum is delivered over three weeks and is followed by a structured set of career-readiness modules that include mentorship, soft skills development, and industry insights.

Through CyberSHE, we are uniting key pillars of our society to create a generation of empowered, job-ready women professionals in cybersecurity. Following its launch in Kuwait, CyberSHE will expand to the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Jordan, and Qatar. Over the next three years, the program aims to train 1,500 women, helping to strengthen national cyber capabilities and promote more inclusive workforce participation.
This partnership reflects EC-Council's global mission to make cybersecurity education accessible, relevant, and transformative. By supporting initiatives like CyberSHE, EC-Council continues to shape pathways that empower women, elevate careers, and contribute to a safer digital future.

Hospitality Advisory Council discusses new national initiatives to boost growth and employment opportunities in the sector
Tourism and hospitality sectors see sustained growth as hotel occupancy rates reach 81.3% in Q1 2025 The Hospitality Advisory Council convened its second meeting of 2025 under the chairmanship of H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Emirates Tourism Council. The session brought together 16 Council members, including CEOs and senior executives from leading national and international hotel groups. Discussions focused on a range of new national initiatives developed in partnership with the private sector to accelerate the growth of the UAE's hospitality sector. The initiatives also aim to generate employment opportunities across all sectors of this vital industry. H.E. Bin Touq said: 'Thanks to the vision and guidance of our wise leadership, the UAE's tourism and hospitality sectors continue to thrive. In the first quarter of 2025, hotel revenues reached AED 13.5 billion, with over 8.4 million guests recorded, a two per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024. Total hotel nights reached 29.3 million, and the national hotel occupancy rate stood at 81.3 per cent during the same period.' H.E. added: 'These impressive figures reflect the UAE's strong commitment to advancing its hospitality industry in line with global best practices. We have invested heavily in developing hotel and entertainment infrastructure across all seven emirates, organizing major international events, and delivering exceptional hospitality experiences that reflect authentic Emirati heritage and culture. As a result, the UAE has become one of the world's leading hospitality destinations today.' The Minister of Economy continued: 'The year 2025 marks a major milestone for UAE tourism, marked by the election of Shaikha Al Nowais as the first woman globally to serve as Secretary-General of the UN World Tourism Organization for the term 2026-2029. This achievement reinforces the UAE's prominent role in supporting international efforts to advance the global tourism industry.' The meeting's discussions covered a comprehensive array of key files and initiatives that support the UAE's efforts to enhance the growth and competitiveness of its hospitality sector. Participants emphasized the importance of promoting collaboration between the public and private sectors to meet the objectives of the National Tourism Strategy 2031, which aims to establish the UAE as the top global tourism brand by the next decade. The Council also reviewed the newly launched 'Summer Hospitality Camp' program by the Ministry of Economy. It is designed to support Emiratization across hospitality-related sectors by offering hands-on training to school and university students in real-world environments such as hotels and tourism facilities, in addition to its structured learning tracks. Established by the Emirates Tourism Council, the Hospitality Advisory Council serves as a strategic advisory body to the Chairman of the Emirates Tourism Council on matters specific to the hospitality sector. It provides insights and data on industry developments, recommends private-sector initiatives to drive sector growth and reinforce the UAE's position as a leading global tourism destination, and offers feedback on government tourism policies and initiatives.

EU Parliament Approves €4 Billion Financial Aid Package for Egypt
Yara Sameh On Wednesday, Parliament approved a provisional agreement reached with Council on a macro-financial assistance (MFA) package for Egypt worth €4 billion. A short-term loan of up to €1 billion was already disbursed at the end of 2024. An additional loan of up to €4 billion will now be disbursed. Egypt will have 35 years to repay the loans. The funds' release is subject to Egypt's satisfactory implementation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme and other policy measures to be agreed in a memorandum between the EU and the Egyptian authorities. In a yearly report to Parliament and Council, the Commission will examine the progress made, assess Egypt's economic prospects and evaluate the loans' impact on the economic and fiscal situation. The Commission will also assess steps taken to shore up democratic mechanisms and the rule of law and to protect human rights in the country. The agreement with Council was approved by 386 votes in favour, 132 against, and with 49 abstentions. Parliament's rapporteur Céline Imart (EPP, FR), said: 'Parliament's backing for this EU loan reflects its high regard for Egypt as a partner country. By helping Egypt, we are also looking after EU interests in an unstable region.' CIB signs strategic partnership with Food Export Council
The Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB), the country's largest private-sector bank, has signed a strategic partnership agreement with the Food Export Council, becoming its official banking partner until the end of 2027. The agreement underscores CIB's continued commitment to supporting Egyptian exports and accelerating the growth of the food industries sector. The signing ceremony was attended by Mahmoud Bazan, Chairperson of the Food Export Council, and Amr El-Ganainy, Executive Vice President and Executive Board Member of CIB, along with Council board members and senior CIB executives. As part of the partnership, CIB will sponsor the launch of an integrated digital platform aimed at streamlining the registration process for member companies. The platform will enable potential integration with CIB's systems, giving exporters seamless access to the bank's full suite of commercial and financial services. The initiative aims to improve both financial inclusion and operational efficiency across the sector. CIB will also participate in major local and international events organised by the Council, including trade exhibitions, commercial delegations, workshops, and seminars. This complements the Council's strategy to open new export markets for Egyptian companies—particularly in Africa, where CIB maintains an on-ground presence in Kenya, facilitating regional expansion. Commenting on the agreement, Amr El-Ganainy said: 'At CIB, we believe the food industries sector is a key driver of Egypt's economic growth and place it at the heart of our strategic priorities. This partnership is designed to empower Egyptian exporters by providing a comprehensive package of financing, logistics support, advisory services, and marketing tools—helping them scale and expand internationally.' He added that the partnership aligns with CIB's mission to deliver advanced digital banking solutions, promote financial inclusion, and support national efforts to increase exports and strengthen the role of the private sector in economic development. For his part, Mahmoud Bazan described the agreement as a 'qualitative leap' in digitalising the export landscape and enhancing exporters' access to financing and global markets. 'The Council is working in line with the state's vision of increasing Egyptian exports to $145 billion. This partnership brings us closer to that goal, particularly through improved access to financial services and international opportunities,' he noted. The announcement comes amid strong momentum in Egypt's food exports, which reached approximately $6.1bn in 2024—marking a 21% increase year-on-year. Established in 1995, the Food Export Council comprises over 650 exporting companies. It plays a key role in facilitating international trade through its support for participation in global exhibitions, trade missions, training programmes, and close coordination with both public and private sector stakeholders.
