Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley has helped make the running back position cool again—finishing as the top player in NFLPA-licensed products for the period of March 1, 2024 through February 28, 2025.

The Super Bowl LIX champion and 2024 NFL rushing leader became the first running back to top the list since Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott in 2017.
The rankings included more than 85 licensed products including apparel, bobbleheads, accessories, figurines, wall decals, backpacks, and drinkware.
"It is the most comprehensive and up-to-date snapshot of player-driven consumer demand, offering a strong indicator of the NFL's most marketable and influential athletes -- impacting everything from endorsements to overall earning potential," the NFLPA said in a release.
Barkley is also the cover athlete for EA Sports video game Madden 26—becoming the first player since former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb who appeared on the Madden cover in 2006.

While his success off the field is phenomenal, Barkley is determined to continue producing at a high level on the gridiron.
"I don't mean it in an arrogant way. I want to be the best running back to ever play, or at least one of the best running backs to ever play," Barkley said. "Don't think there's a way you can prove who's the best. But that's always been my motivation.
"I feel like God's blessed me with a unique ability, and put me through a lot of adversity, and that's still going to be my mindset. So the love of the game, wanting to win, and wanting to compete and be great is always going to push me, no matter if we win four Super Bowls."
If Barkley continues his current trajectory, he will most certainly have a strong argument to be on the NFL's Mount Rushmore of all-time greatest running backs.

UNC Football Reacts to Major Bill Belichick Announcement on Friday

UNC Football Reacts to Major Bill Belichick Announcement on Friday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Bill Belichick is heading into his first season as head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels football program. Advertisement While Belichick is making a late-career move into the college football game, he'll always be remembered for his incredible decades-long career in the NFL. Belichick spent 29 seasons as a head coach in the NFL, winning six Super Bowl rings during his dynastic run with the New England Patriots. With his unprecedented championship success, he's widely regarded as the greatest NFL coach of all time. With that in mind, it's no surprise that Belichick was selected as the head coach of ESPN's NFL All Quarter Century Team. Six of his New England players — Tom Brady, Randy Moss, Rob Gronkowski, Vince Wilfork, Darrelle Revis and Matthew Slater — were also named to the team. "We wrestled back and forth here, considering both Belichick and Andy Reid," ESPN's Aaron Schatz wrote." Reid has the advantage of sustained success with multiple quarterbacks and multiple franchises, but we went with Belichick because of his superior success in the postseason: nine Super Bowl appearances and six Super Bowl championships." "Belichick also won in different ways. His early Patriots teams were more about the defense, highlighted by a game plan that slowed down the 2001 Rams' dynamic offense. The midcareer Patriots were offensive juggernauts. At the end of his New England tenure, the team went back to being defense-first, highlighted by a 13-3 victory in its final Super Bowl." Kyle Shanahan was recognized as offensive coordinator, and Wade Phillips as defensive coordinator behind Belichick. Advertisement UNC football took to social media to react to this announcement on Friday. "Congratulations to @Belichick_B on being selected as Head Coach of the @espn NFL All Quarter Century Team!" the team wrote on X. North Carolina Tar Heels football coach Bill Donnan-Imagn Images Belichick's college football coaching career will begin when North Carolina kicks off its regular-season schedule with a matchup against the TCU Horned Frogs on Sep. 1. NFL Star Lamar Jackson Sends 5-Word Message to Jayson Tatum

NFL Star Lamar Jackson Sends 5-Word Message to Jayson Tatum originally appeared on Athlon Sports. A little over one month ago, Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum suffered an Achilles injury near the end of the team's Game 4 loss to the New York Knicks in the second round of the playoffs. While his timeline is still not fully clear, the expectation is that the Duke alum will miss all of next season. Advertisement As one of the top stars in the NBA, Tatum's injury is tough for the league and for the Celtics. However, the 27-year-old is seemingly still keeping his head eye in the midst of support from some of the greatest athletes in the world today. This includes Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, who recently sent a message to the Celtics star. Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum (0).© Bob DeChiara-Imagn Images While recovering from an Achilles injury is never easy, there are reasons to believe Tatum will be able to bounce back, especially given his age. This is the hope for not just the Celtics organization or the city of Boston, but also for the Ravens star as well, who sent a five-word message to Tatum: 'Wishing you 100% recovery Champ!' With their star player likely out for next season, in addition to the likely roster turnover they will have this summer as they look to gain financial flexibility, the Celtics will be in a strange spot next year. After being legitimate title favorites over the last few seasons, they will most likely not be as dominant next season and may have a re-tooling year. Advertisement Hopefully for the Celtics, Tatum can come back from his injury and return to his pre-injury form. Until then, however, Boston will have to make do without their star player and look to shock the basketball world in 2026. Phillies Announced They Moved Aaron Nola to 60-Day Injured List Amid Roster Move

Phillies Announced They Moved Aaron Nola to 60-Day Injured List Amid Roster Move originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Philadelphia Phillies lost starting pitcher Aaron Nola for a significant amount of time already, and there is reasonable concern after he suffered a new setback in his ribs. He initially was expected to be back soon, but his issue has prolonged his return to the mount. Advertisement According to a new announcement made by the Phillies on Twitter/X, Nola was dealt even more bad news. They called up Buddy Kennedy and sent down Weston Wilson, meaning the team needed a new 40-man roster spot. To make that spot open, the Phillies put Nola on the 60-day injured list. This decision from the Phillies organization points towards Nola not returning to the club for a while. His timeline originally had him ready to go before the All-Star break. But, a prior setback pushed it passed the All-Star break, and this now could make his absence even longer. Nola could now be out into August, something that cold affect the team's plans at the trade deadline. Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Aaron Nola (27) throws a pitch during the first inning against the St. Louis Cardinals at Citizens Bank Streicher-Imagn Images While the Phillies have plenty of starting pitchers in the organization, the decision made on Nola is a tough blow for the Phillies. Losing more than half a season of Nola in the rotation will sting, even though he struggled so far this season. Advertisement Nola was 1-7 with a 6.16 ERA before he was placed on the injured list. He started on the 10-day injured list before being transferred to the 15-day injured list. But, after this new announcement, he's now on the 60-day injured list. His progression in recovering from what was initially a foot issue went well, but the rib issue was a huge setback in his return to the mound. It reset his recovery timeline, and provided a different level of pain for Nola to deal with. After this update from the Phillies, the wait is expected to be even longer for Nola's return. In the meantime, Mick Abel and potentially, Andrew Painter, will take over in his absence.
