Costa Coffee horror as car smashes through window leaving three seriously injured
Three people have been seriously injured after a car smashed into the front of a Costa Coffee shop.
Three people have been left with serious injuries after a car ploughed into the front of a Costa Coffee. The emergency services were quick to respond to the incident this afternoon.
Footage and images circulating on social media show an air ambulance making a landing at a nearby recreation ground, while pictures from the scene depict the presence of multiple police cars and an ambulance. The South Central Ambulance Service has confirmed that the trio injured were taken to hospital and are 'conscious and breathing'.
Authorities in Carterton, Oxfordshire, currently do not suspect any malicious intent from the driver.
Simon Watson, Town Councillor for Upavon Ward, expressed his thoughts: "Thinking of everyone affected by today's incident at the coffee shop and deeply grateful to our emergency services for their swift response.", reports the Mirror.
Details regarding any arrests remain uncertain at this stage.
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police commented: "We are currently responding to an incident in Carterton. A vehicle has been driven into Costa Coffee in Burford Road, injuring three people.
"Emergency services are at the scene and the road has been closed. We would advise the public to avoid the area at this time."
Authorities have urged the public to refrain from circulating footage of a recent incident, stating: "We would ask the public not to share footage of the scene on social media, out of respect for those injured. If you have footage from the area at the time of the incident please share this with us by."
They continue with an appeal for information: "Call 101 or leave details via our website, quoting INC-20250507-1109."
As the investigation went on, the officials clarified: "We do not believe this was a deliberate act on behalf of the driver."
Following the event, a spokesperson from South Central Ambulance Service reported: "We have been called out to reports that a car has collided with a Costa cafe."
Detailing their response, the spokesperson added: "We have sent three ambulances, a rapid response car, our air ambulance team and our Hazardous Response Team at this time."
The spokesperson also provided an update on the victims: "We've been informed that there are three casualties, all of whom are conscious and breathing, and are being conveyed to the John Radcliffe hospital."

ITV Coronation Street star died broke and on benefits despite 22-year soap stint
Peter Adamson was a very well known face to ITV viewers for many years but died penniless and on benefits. A Coronation Street actor died penniless and on benefits despite starring on the ITV show for two decades, according to reports. Peter Adamson was known to fans of the long-running ITV soap as Len Fairclough. He first appeared on Coronation Street in 1961 and would go on to remain there until 1983, a 22-year stint, racking up 1,730 episodes. Peter spent his final years as a 'virtual recluse' after his acting career ended in the 80s. When he passed away at the age of 72 at his home in Bury, he was close to the breadline. Coronation Street was Peter's last acting job as he was then accused of indecently assaulting two eight-year-old girls at Haslingden Baths, where he was working as a part-time swimming instructor. He was acquitted of the charges at Burnley Crown Court but then went on to sell a number of 'inside stories' to the press in a bid to clear his £120k legal bill, reports the Mirror. He would claim that during one, while he was drunk, he was persuaded to change his story. He was alleged to have said to one journalist: "I am totally guilty of everything the police said... But what I hope you will print – there was no sexual intent." After he was reinterviewed by police over the 'confession', which Adamson denied, no further action was taken when the reporter in question said he had "mislaid" the tapes. However, Adamson was instantly axed by Corrie bosses, losing his £10,000 a year salary, around £190,000 in today's money. Len Fairclough was killed in a motorway accident after apparently visiting a mistress to ensure no viewer sympathy. Adamson went to Canada to start a new life but came back to the UK shortly after and was declared bankrupt in 1991. With no cash coming in, he lived in a rented flat and relied on benefits as he was unable to find work. He did have some roles on radio and in a West End production of Dial M for Murder, as well as a stint in Vanburgh's The Relapse in 1988. When he died penniless, it wasn't the first time he had been facing financial issues, as was revealed in legal documents during his trial. The actor, who was reported to be a "hellraiser" and a heavy drinker throughout his working life, owed thousands to the Inland Revenue by the late 1960s. He'd also been suspended from Coronation Street in 1969 due to his drinking. Adamson's wife Jean died soon after his court appearance. The actor left behind two sons when he passed away in 2002. BMW fleeing scene of break-in at Scots home crashes into police car
A teenage boy has since been arrested in connection with the housebreaking. A black BMW fleeing from the scene of a break-in at a property in Fife crashed into a police car. Officers were called out to reports of a home invasion in Dunlin Drive, Dunfermline, at around 3.55pm on Saturday, June 21. When the marked police car arrived, it was struck by a black BMW which then fled. A 17-year-old male has since been arrested in connection with the break-in.
