Mitsubishi Motors expands presence in Klang Valley with new Kajang 3S Centre

The Sun01-05-2025

MITSUBISHI MOTORS MALAYSIA (MMM) and authorised dealer Millennium Autohaus Sdn Bhd have officially opened a new Mitsubishi Motors 3S Centre (Sales, Service & Spare Parts) in Kajang, further strengthening the brand's footprint in the Klang Valley. This latest development brings the number of Mitsubishi 3S centres in the region to 19, underlining the company's commitment to growth and customer service excellence.
The new showroom is strategically located at Lot 1872A, Jalan Semenyih, Kajang 43500, Selangor, and is well-positioned to serve the growing customer base in Kajang and its surrounding areas. Set on a 15,800 square-foot plot of land, the 9,600 square-foot facility is designed to provide a comprehensive Mitsubishi brand experience, combining both sales and after-sales services under one roof for enhanced convenience.
According to Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia Chief Executive Officer Shinya Ikeda, the opening of the new outlet in Kajang is a reflection of MMM's ongoing partnership with Millennium Autohaus and their shared dedication to delivering exceptional customer experiences. Ikeda stated that the launch not only strengthens the brand's presence across the Klang Valley but also affirms Mitsubishi's focus on meeting customer expectations at every stage of vehicle ownership.
The Kajang 3S Centre will feature Mitsubishi's acclaimed models, including the award-winning Mitsubishi Triton and the highly popular Mitsubishi XPANDER. The Triton remains a strong contender in the pick-up segment with its reliable performance and robust capabilities, while the XPANDER has garnered significant popularity among families for its spacious cabin, contemporary design, and practical functionality.
This latest facility marks the second outlet for Millennium Autohaus, following the successful establishment of its first dealership in Kota Damansara in September 2021. With this new addition, Millennium Autohaus continues to expand its reach, supporting Mitsubishi's ambition to deliver top-quality vehicles and services across Malaysia.

Japan's Nikkei drops on Iran risks but weaker yen limits losses

TOKYO: Japan's Nikkei share average fell on Monday as US attacks on Iranian nuclear sites fueled risk aversion, while the accompanying jump in oil prices weighed on the outlook for Japan's economy and corporate earnings. The Nikkei sank 0.55 per cent to 38,191.87 as of the midday recess, with 161 of its components declining, versus 60 that rose and four that traded flat. The broader Topix slumped 0.62 per cent. Japan imports almost all of its oil, making the economy highly sensitive to crude prices, which surged to six-month peaks on Monday as traders waited nervously to see Iran's response to the US's entry into the conflict. Japanese manufacturers are also vulnerable to energy price spikes. At the same time, analysts pointed to the yen's decline to a nearly six-week low versus a broadly stronger US dollar as providing some support to shares in Japan's heavyweight exporters, whose overseas revenues gain in value when the yen weakens. "The rise in the dollar-yen interest rate has been very clearly helpful for the Nikkei's performance," said Yunosuke Ikeda, chief macro strategist at Nomura Securities. The safe-haven yen is weakening because "investors seem more focused this time on the impact of higher oil prices on Japan's trade balance," Ikeda said. Chip-sector stocks underperformed, with Screen Holdings falling 3.76 per cent to be the Nikkei's biggest decliner in percentage terms, while Tokyo Electron and Advantest were the biggest drags in index-point terms with respective declines of 2.42 per cent and 1.69 per cent. The best performing stocks were oil explorers and refiners, with the Topix mining sub-index climbing 1.49 per cent and the oil and coal sub-index adding 0.51 per cent.

Mitsubishi in advanced talks on US$8bil Aethon deal

A deal would likely be structured as a purchase of Aethon's portfolio. — Bloomberg TOKYO: Mitsubishi Corp is in advanced talks to buy the assets of Aethon Energy Management for close to US$8bil, according to sources, in what would be the Japanese conglomerate's biggest ever acquisition. Mitsubishi could announce a deal with the US energy-focused investment firm in the next couple of months, according to the sources. Abu Dhabi National Oil Co had also been considering a potential transaction involving Aethon, Bloomberg News reported in April. A deal would likely be structured as a purchase of Aethon's portfolio, which includes natural gas production operations and midstream assets. Dallas-based Aethon is among the most active drillers in the Haynesville shale basin that straddles East Texas and northern Louisiana. Aethon is close to several liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminals along the Gulf Coast. Mitsubishi, one of Japan's major trading companies, is a key supplier of LNG and has a stake in a US export facility in Louisiana. Japan's government sees the artificial intelligence (AI) boom potentially lifting power demand over the next decade, and has urged the nation's private firms to invest in gas. The talks mean that Mitsubishi is looking to double down on one of its most profitable business segments: natural gas. Japan's trading houses, which include Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc as an investor, have outperformed the market over the last few years due in part to strong profits from overseas gas and LNG projects. 'Given the shortage of power due to AI demand, everything related to energy is generally positive,' said Shuji Hosoi, senior strategist at Daiwa Securities Co. That said, there are worries about whether it may be overpaying for the purchase, like the steep premium Nippon Steel Corp hads agreed to pay for US Steel Corp. — Bloomberg
