Arts Council of Kern announces launch of new monthly art market event
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Arts Council of Kern announced the start of 'Second Saturdays,' a new monthly event in which Kern County residents can celebrate creativity within the community by supporting local artists.
Starting this June, the event will take place on the second Saturday of each month, according to the organization. This monthly, indoor event is set to take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Arts Council's downtown headquarters, located at 1020 18th St.
Local artists will be able to host pop-up shops to showcase their artworks, according to organizers.

Members of the community can stop by to shop for local art and connect with the local artists at the vendor booths.
Starting in July, Second Saturdays are expected to also feature hands-on arts-making opportunities for the public.
Artists can join as a vendor by paying a $25 vendor fee. The Arts Council is accepting vendor applications.
The event is free for the public to attend.

Bakersfield Museum of Art hosting ‘Family Day' Saturday
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Bakersfield Museum of Art is hosting a 'Family Day' on June 14. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. you can enjoy smooth jazz music provided by Bakersfield College Jazz Combos in the BMOA's sculpture garden. You can also enjoy coffee for purchase by Five 0 Two Coffee. A guided exhibition tour of the museum's summer exhibits will begin at 1 p.m. and go until 2 p.m. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., there will be an all ages art project.
