1. Black Frieza: Dragon Ball's most powerful villain yet
At the top of the list is the return, even if not completely unexpected, of Frieza – who's now come back in a much darker form referred to as Black Frieza. Redesigned at the conclusion of the Granolah the Survivor Arc, this new version of Frieza threw audiences for a loop when he defeated both Goku and Vegeta with seemingly no effort, even in their most powerful forms. Frieza did the same thing when he trained for 10 years in that magic hyperbolic time chamber and got a million-power-levels-up! He may be the most powerful being in all of existence—even more powerful than the gods. While this arc is still in the works, fans feel confident that the following chapters of Dragon Ball Super will explore deeper into Black Frieza's rise to power and the danger he is sure to face all universes with.
2. Universe 6 saiyans: Vegeta's most personal arc yet
One other big storyline fans are anticipating to see is Universe 6, where we were first introduced to a different set of Saiyans. As far back as the Universe 6 arc, Vegeta made a promise to his student Cabba that he would one day visit Planet Sadala, the home of Universe 6's Saiyans, and meet their king.
That would make this arc something of a dream come true for Vegeta fans. It would allow him to truly reconnect with his roots and explore what the Saiyan race would've been like had their planet not been destroyed. Not only do we have new characters to look forward to, we'll finally see beloved characters like Caulifla and Kale back in on the action.
For decades, audiences have wished for an arc that finally features Vegeta in the protagonist's role. A trip to Planet Sadala would be the ideal opportunity.
3. A multiverse war: Dragon Ball's most epic battle yet
Dragon Ball Super unlocked a massive narrative potential when it revealed that there were 12 universes back during the Tournament of Power arc. Since that point, the manga has largely returned to Universe 7, leaving fans hungry for more multiverse action.
A prospective future arc would bring together heroes and villains from every corner of the multiverse for one massive showdown. Think Goku and friends joining forces with elite warriors such as Jiren, Hit, and Toppo to take down a dark, cosmic-level enemy that threatens to erase every universe from existence.

One big unknown in all this is Broly, the legendary Super Saiyan. Now living peacefully and training alongside Goku, Broly has evolved to be calmer yet incredibly more powerful. And like many fans, I think there's a good chance he'll come back to play a significant role in the Black Frieza arc—or even become one of the key warriors in any multiversal war.
Broly's popularity is at an all-time high thanks to the reception of Dragon Ball Super: Broly and there's no doubt the series will find a way to bring him back in a huge way.

There's no official return date for Dragon Ball Super, but with the franchise getting both a movie and a new series someday, fans can take comfort knowing the franchise is not finished. Dragon Ball certainly has plenty of life left.
