Month-long family pensioners' redressal drive in July
New Delhi, June 11 (UNI) The Government's Department of Pension and Pensioners welfare (DoPPW) will launch a ]special campaign 2.0 for redressal of 2210 grievances of family pensioners and super senior pensioners next month.
According to a DoPPW statement here, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions will kick-start the month-long drive.
'A total number of 2210 pension grievances have been taken up and shared with the 51 ministries/departments/organisations for redressal under the campaign,' said the statement.
At a preparatory meeting under the chairmanship of Secretary (Pension) on June 11, the guidelines issued for ensuring smooth and seamless execution of the Special Campaign 2.0 were deliberated upon in detail.
Secretary (Pension) underscored that the prime objective of the campaign is to provide qualitative redressal of the grievances. Hence, it was emphasised that the grievances should be closed on the government's portal(CPENGRAMS) only after their conclusive redressal. UNI AJ SSP

MEA revokes denial, grants Priyank Kharge clearance for US visit
Bengaluru, June 21 (UNI) In a sharp turn of events, Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge on Saturday said the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has revoked its earlier decision and granted him clearance for an official visit to the United States, five days after his scheduled departure and following public outcry. Taking to social media platform X, Kharge wrote, 'So in a U-turn, the Ministry of External Affairs has now decided to revoke its earlier decision and grant me a clearance for an official visit to the United States.' Kharge said he had applied for permission on May 15 to travel between June 14-27 to represent the Karnataka government at two major global forums and participate in over 25 official meetings with top companies, universities, and institutions to pitch for investments and explore collaborations. The minister highlighted that his initial delegation request was rejected, while subsequent applications — first for officials and later for the KEONICS chairman — were approved, showing a selective clearance process over three separate submissions between May 15 and June 14. Kharge said no official explanation was provided for the denial of his own application. On June 19, he held a press conference highlighting the chronology and alleging political interference. By the same evening, the MEA issued a fresh No Objection Clearance dated June 19, effectively reversing its earlier stance. '36 days after my original application, 15 days after the denial, and five days after my scheduled departure, they 'revoke' their decision,' he noted, questioning the timing and intent behind the clearance. He further asked, 'Why was the clearance denied in the first place? Was it revoked only after the matter became public? What is the point of a clearance after the key events are over?' Criticising the Centre, Kharge said while the Union Government promotes slogans like 'Make in India', 'Digital India', and the 'India AI Mission', it is states like Karnataka that are driving real progress. He alleged that despite leading on innovation and job creation, Karnataka is being obstructed politically. Referring to the Prime Minister's statement, MAGA + MIGA = MEGA', Kharge asked, 'What does that even mean in practice, when the very state driving India's tech and innovation engine is denied the support it needs to lead globally?' Iran accuses US of using Tehran's talks with Trump as ‘cover' for Israeli strikes
Tehran, June 21 (UNI) Iranian Foreign Minister Abbass Araghchi has said that Iran is no longer certain if it can trust the United States in mediating peace talks with Israel, alleging that President Donald Trump's negotiations were a 'cover' for Israeli attacks on his country. Araghchi accused Washington of 'betrayal to diplomacy,' saying US officials 'must show their determination for negotiating a solution,' in an on-camera interview with NBC News on Friday. 'We have come to the conclusion that negotiations by the US was in fact a cover for what the Israelis did,' he added. 'We don't know how we can trust them (the US) anymore.' Israel recently carried out a series of aerial strikes on Iran, hitting its Isfahan nuclear research complex – the country's largest nuclear complex. While there was some infrastructure damage, no hazardous leaks occurred, confirmed Iranian authorities. The IDF also allegedly targeted a residential building in Iran's Qom province, which led to the deaths of two civilians, four injuries, and strong property damage. Araghchi arrived in Turkey on Friday night, ahead of a Saturday meeting of the 57-nation Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, where he condemned 'Israeli aggression.' Speaking to Iranian media in Istanbul, Araghchi said he would 'make full use of this opportunity in order to make the innocent and righteous voice of the Iranian people heard.' Araghchi said that he had also planned to meet with Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and other officials.

Revival of peace reflected in tourist footfall at Manas: Assam CM
Guwahati, June 21 (UNI) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said the revival of peace across Assam was reflected in the rise in footfall to the Manas National Park and tiger reserve. He said this while taking part in the 11th International Day of Yoga held at the Salbari College playground in Baksa on Saturday. The event was jointly organised by the National AYUSH Mission, Assam, the Bodoland Territorial Council and the Baksa district administration. It centred on the theme 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health'. Speaking at the event, Sarma noted that yoga contributes to physical well-being, mental composure, and a sense of purpose, which accounts for its increasing global relevance and integration into contemporary life. He attributed the international recognition of yoga to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts, particularly his address to the United Nations General Assembly on September 27, 2014, which resulted in the UN's formal declaration of June 21 as International Yoga Day on December 11, 2014. Reviewing Assam's engagement with the Yoga Day, the Chief Minister recalled that the inaugural state-level celebration was held at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati in 2015, with subsequent editions hosted in locations such as Majuli, Nalbari, Nagaon, Kamrup Metropolitan, Dibrugarh, Dhemaji, Dhubri, and Tezpur. He expressed confidence that this year's event, held in collaboration with the BTR and Baksa administration, would invigorate the advancement of yoga in the region. Sarma also remarked on the significance of Salbari as the venue, observing its transition from a region once affected by conflict during the Bodo movement to now emblematic of Bodoland's improved conditions and administrative stability. The event, he stated, not only celebrates yoga but also symbolises the region's resilience and renewal.
