A MAJOR motor brand has announced it will axe a popular "funky" luxury SUV from its lineup with no plans to replace it.
The unique motor is expected to be axed as soon as stock runs out, and will not get a facelift or a model upgrade next year.

The larger and more refined second-generation X2 was a big part of the discontinuation of the X4
BMW is scrapping its popular X4 Coupe SUV from its production lineup - and is expected to take it off the market as soon as next year.
First revealed in 2014, the SUV quickly became popular with motorheads who love to drive adventure vehicles with a bit of luxury.
However, over the decade, the car failed to maintain its position as the leading Coupe SUV, with passionate motorists eventually falling out of love with the vehicle.
Due to a lack of popularity, the German brand is expected to stop the production of X4 after the 2024 model year.
BMW will reportedly kill the X4 after the 2025 model year.
Company officials additionally confirmed the Mercedes GLC Coupe rival won't live to see another generation.
But its not all bad news, as BMW still has the new X2 crossover coupe as an alternative.
The price gap between the X4 and X2 has also been substantially narrowed.
And those who are after a larger, or more stylish SUV can look into getting their hands on the big X6.
BMW M135 is a power-packed hot-hatch that's precise, solid & slick… everything about is 'sheer driving pleasure'
The German luxury brand says the new X3 can also provide a more in-between sized vehicle, which unlike the X2 has RWD underpinnings and a six cylinder engine.
It is not yet known exactly when BMW will end production of the X4.
This year has already seen 30 cars on the chopping block, with already 20 more set for next year.

Close friend of Michael Schumacher shares heartbreaking update

The seven-time world champion Formula 1 driver hasn't been publically seen since his skiing incident in December 2013. A new heartbreaking update has been shared on the condition of former F1 racer Michael Schumacher. Former Benetton boss Flavio Briatore, who often talks with Schumacher's wife, says he prefers to remember the driver 'smiling after a victory' than in his current condition. The 56-year-old has not been seen in public for well over a decade after he was caught up in a high-speed skiing incident in Meribel in December 2013. This resulted in the seven-time world champion sustaining long-term injuries. ‌ Since the accident, his wife Corinna has kept details about his treatment and progress private from the public, reports the Express. Back in a 2021 Netflix documentary titled Schumacher, she did not share any details about his condition at the time, but did talk about the impact the ordeal has had on his family. ‌ She shared: "Michael is here. Different, but he's here, and that gives us strength, I find. We live together at home. We do therapy. "We do everything we can to make Michael better and to make sure he's comfortable, and to simply make him feel our family, our bond. And no matter what, I will do everything I can. We all will. "We're trying to carry on as a family, the way Michael liked it and still does. And we are getting on with our lives. 'Private is private', as he always said. It's very important to me that he can continue to enjoy his private life as much as possible. Michael always protected us and now we are protecting Michael." She added: "I miss Michael every day. But it's not just me who misses him. It's the children, the family, his father, everyone around him." ‌ While there are a few select people who are allowed to see Micheal, Flavio Briatore has been revealed to be one of them. The 75-year-old Italian businessman has kept in frequent contact with Corrina, and he has now shared with the public a brief look into Schuamcher's life. Unfortunately, his update does suggest that the F1 racer is still severely restricted in terms of mobility. Speaking to Italian newspaper, Corriere della Sera, he said: "If I close my eyes, I see him smiling after a victory. I prefer to remember him like that rather than him just lying on a bed. Corinna and I talk often, though." ‌ This statement follows claims made by Briatore's former spouse, Elisabetta Gregoraci, who said: "Michael doesn't speak, he communicates with his eyes. Only three people can visit him and I know who they are." Briatore first joined Benetton in 1985, before taking over as the team principal only six years later. One of his first major moves in the role was to sign Schumacher from Jordan, which was seen as a pivotal moment in F1 history. In 1994 and 1995, the German driver won his first two world titles. From there, he later joined Ferrari and was crowned champion five times between 2000 and 2004. ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! It has previously been reported by German journalist, Felix Gorner, that Schumacher is "completely dependent" on his caregivers and "can no longer express himself verbally". In the last 11 years, Briatore's statement is one of the few public comments released about Schumacher, showing how private Corrina would like to keep his condition. At the 2025 Bahrain Grand Prix, Sir Jackie Stewart wore a helmet with the initials 'MS' on it as a tribute to the driver during a special celebratory lap. This gesture was said to be backed by Schumacher's wife and is one of the few tributes allowed to take place concerning Schumacher's accident over the years.

Dan Harper reveals what he must do to get back in SportsCar Championship fight

Hopes of solid points-scoring finishes at the previous two rounds at Laguna Seca and Detroit were scuppered when the BMW M4 GT3 Evo Harper co-drives with Max Hesse incurred drive-through time penalties. Those setbacks have left the Paul Miller Racing team-mates on the backfoot in the GTD Pro class and find themselves having to play catch-up in the title fight. After four rounds, they are sixth in the standings (1,128 points) — 170 shy of AO Racing Porsche's Klaus Bachler and Laurin Heinrich. A recent test at Saturday's 3.41-mile, 11-turn venue, has given Harper cause to be optimistic. 'It is a really cool track and one I immediately enjoyed as I got to grips with it,' reflected Harper. 'The way the BMW felt at the test, I really think the track should suit the car this weekend — we seemed to be quite competitive compared to all the other teams that were out there. 'Fingers crossed it will be a good weekend for us because after Laguna Seca and Detroit, we need to get back on the right path in the Championship by finishing on the podium again. 'We need to go out and score some big points,' continued the 24-year-old. 'We have fallen behind a bit, so we really need a good run of results in the next few races.' A total of 56 cars are entered – and in the case of GTD Pro, Harper and Hesse make up a 10-strong field. 'I have been enjoying the challenge of IMSA,' said Harper. 'We have been a competitive force from the start, but have had some bad luck and made a couple of small mistakes so far. We need to move on from those and have a clean second half of the year.'

Michael Schumacher's close friend offers heartbreaking update on F1 legend

Michael Schumacher suffered lifechanging injuries in a skiing accident in 2013 and his close friend Flavio Briatore has offered an update on the seven-time F1 world champion's condition Michael Schumacher's close friend and former boss Flavio Briatore has shared an emotional update on the Formula 1 legend's condition. Schumacher suffered a severe brain injury after a skiing accident in December 2013 and his wife, Corrina, has kept details of his treatment incredibly private. Very few people have been allowed to visit Schumacher, but it is known that he continues to require full-time care more than 11 years after the incident. Briatore, who brought Schumacher to Benetton and helped him win two world titles, is among the few that have visited the German since his accident. ‌ And when asked about Schumacher's current condition, he told Italian newspaper Corriere della Serra: "If I close my eyes, I see him smiling after a victory. I prefer to remember him like that rather than him just lying on a bed. Corinna and I talk often, though." ‌ After the accident, Schumacher spent 250 days in a medically induced coma before he was allowed to return home and continue receiving treatment. Although updates have been few and far between, Corinna did share some details in the 2021 Netflix documentary 'Schumacher'. "I miss Michael every day," she said. "But it is not just me who misses him. It's the children, the family, his father, everyone around him. I mean, everybody misses Michael, but Michael is here. Different, but he's here, and that gives us strength. READ MORE: Max Verstappen sparks disagreement between Nico Rosberg and Toto Wolff as theory emerges "We're together. We live together at home. It's very important to me that he can continue to enjoy his private life as much as possible. Michael always protected us and now we are protecting Michael." Jean Todt, who was Ferrari's team principal when Schumacher won five consecutive world titles, has also visited the F1 legend since the accident. "Michael is here, so I don't miss him," Todt told L'Equipe in 2023. ‌ "[But he] is simply not the Michael he used to be. He is different and is wonderfully guided by his wife and children who protect him. His life is different now and I have the privilege of sharing moments with him. "That's all there is to say. Unfortunately, fate struck him 10 years ago. He is no longer the Michael we knew in Formula 1."
