Translator Reveals Story Behind KIIRAS' Lingling's Trainee Days At YG Entertainment

Hype Malaysia5 days ago

Many local fans have been following the debut of K-pop girl group KIIRAS (키라스) and the group's leader, Lingling (링링). Since the idol is Malaysia's first female K-pop idol, it's no surprise that fans wanted to learn more about the 20-year-old.
Recently, Lingling shared a new fact about herself, notably her time at YG Entertainment. For those unfamiliar with Lingling, the star first came onto the K-pop scene as a contestant in the survival show 'I-LAND2'. During her time on the show, there were rumours that the singer was a trainee at YG Entertainment, one of K-pop's most prominent labels. However, nothing much was known about her days at the label – until now.
The idol recently attended an online fan-sign event, where she answered a fan's question about her time at YG Entertainment. Lingling confirmed that she was a trainee at the agency but was only there for about 4 months. She never disclosed why she left, but said it was because of her age. Following up on the video, a Twitter user who claimed to be a translator for YG Entertainment during their global audition in Malaysia shared another story about the star.
The translator said she worked with Lingling during the audition, revealing that the idol was the only one who passed the audition in Malaysia. She also noted that the idol was only 16 years old when she got accepted into YG Entertainment. Surprisingly, the translator also revealed that Lingling once asked if she could return to Malaysia if she moved to South Korea to sit for her SPM examination.
While it's unconfirmed whether Lingling did return to sit for the SPM exams, the revelation sparked praise for the star. Many commended Lingling for prioritising her education despite being accepted into a notable K-pop label, lamenting how even some local influencers look down upon the SPM certification. Others also highlighted how Lingling was the only one who passed the auditions, saying it's a testament to her skills as an idol.
If what was shared was indeed true, then kudos to Lingling for putting her education before her idol career. Hopefully, we'll get to hear more anecdotes from the star soon.

(Video) M'sian Fans Overjoyed Seeing BTS' J-Hope Sharing Super Ring Snack With TWICE's Sana

It's well known among Malaysian K-pop fans that Super Ring is a popular snack among idols. Members of BLACKPINK, STAYC, and have all been unable to resist the cheesy goodness of the local treat. GOT7's Mark Tuan even claimed they're better than the cheese ball snacks found in the US. It seems that two more idols have joined the list, after one introduced the snack to the other on camera. BTS member J-Hope (제이홉) recently appeared on TWICE's Sana (사나/サナ)'s show 'Fridge Interview', where he brought along some snacks he picked up while on tour. Watch: In the latest episode of Sana's 'Fridge Interview', BTS's J-Hope discussed his latest solo project and preparations for his 'HOPE ON THE STREET' world tour, which recently concluded. At one point during the interview, the two idols opened the fridge, which was filled with various foods and drinks that the rapper is particularly fond of, one of which happened to be a packet of Super Ring snacks. The 31-year-old explained the reason he liked each item in the fridge, one by one. When it came to the Malaysian snack, he revealed that he had picked it up during his trip to Singapore, where he performed at the country's National Indoor Stadium. He described it as savoury and tasty before opening the bag to share it with Sana, who commented that it had a hint of sweetness. The moment quickly went viral, with Malaysian fans expressing their excitement over the Super Ring mention. Many commented that if J-Hope were to perform in Malaysia, he could have all the Super Ring snacks he wanted, as they're available in almost every convenience store across the country. Others, however, expressed disappointment that the idol didn't specify the snack's Malaysian origin, noting that he only mentioned picking it up in Singapore. TWICE fans also chimed in, hoping that Sana would share the snack with her fellow members, sparking hopes that it might lead to a potential concert in Malaysia. Even though J-Hope didn't get the snack from Malaysia, there's no denying that Super Ring remains a superior snack among K-pop idols. DJ SODA Shares Heartbreaking Hair Disaster; Alleges Threats From Salon Following Fans' Protest

Colouring your hair can be an exciting experience, but it does come with risks. The bleaching process, in particular, can be harmful and may lead to various negative effects if not done correctly. This is why K-pop fans often express concern for their idols, as many of them change hair colour with every comeback. Even if you stick to one hair colour, the process of touching up your roots still carries some risk. Unfortunately for South Korean DJ Hwang So-hee (황소희), aka DJ SODA, her recent hair treatment didn't turn out as well as she had hoped. Earlier this week, DJ SODA posted about her recent visit to her regular hair salon to dye her hair blonde for the first time in 3 years. It was meant to be a surprise for her fans, but unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse when the salon accidentally left the bleach on for too long. 'My hair was originally thick, full, and in healthy condition thanks to a 3-year break from bleaching and consistent care. But they left the bleach on for too long, and my hair melted from the roots. In the end, I had to shave the entire back and sides of my head,' she said. The musician went on to explain that the damage was so severe, she could no longer hide it when attending events and shows. She felt devastated as her hair continued to fall out in large handfuls every day, to the point where she had trouble sleeping for two weeks. 'I cried every day. It's really hard for me to look in the mirror. When I see videos fans took of me, I feel even more heartbroken,' she added. Unfortunately, due to the extent of the damage, she was unable to get hair extensions to cover the bald spots and could only use what's left of her natural hair to conceal them. After sharing the news with her fans, many reportedly began protesting outside the hair salon. This led the management to contact DJ SODA in an attempt at damage control. However, rather than offering an apology, the company demanded that she take down the post. 'I received a message directed at my manager saying, 'I will give you 5 million won if you write a settlement agreement and take down the post.' [I want to make it clear that], even if I were offered a fortune, it cannot change my appearance now or undo the pain caused by this,' she said in a follow-up post. DJ Soda explained that the salon had offered to provide a list of hospitals (under their supervision) where she could receive hair treatment. However, despite repeated reminders, they failed to follow through on their promise. She did not disclose whether she plans to take legal action, but if her claims are true, the salon could be in serious trouble for damaging the hair of a public figure. TXT's Creative Director Calls Out Plagiarism Issue With CRAVITY's New Concept Photos

In the creative industry, it's easy to take inspiration from dedicated artist who work hard to achieve their creative direction, and it's even easier to plagiarise them. When creating your own pieces, taking inspiration and blatantly copying another person's work walks a fine line, and if you're not careful, you might be labelled as a copycat. Yesterday (19th June 2025), TXT's (투모로우바이투게더) creative director, known as Minchae, posted a series of her past projects featuring TXT's Beomgyu (최범규) more on her Instagram stories, which netizens have speculated to be a jab at CRAVITY's (크래비티) 'Dare To Crave' new concept photos. After all the uploads, the creative director then shared a photo of a coffee cup, overlaid with the caption: 'Authenticity & sincerity.' It is known that the creative director behind CRAVITY's recent rebranding is also TXT's former visual director, who goes by the alias Rakta. After CRAVITY's 'Dare To Crave' concept photos were released on Tuesday (17th June 2025), netizens quickly pointed out striking similarities to the creative direction used in TXT Beomgyu's 'Panic' project, sparking major backlash and accusations of plagiarism. Twitter user @/crvtty commented, 'Wow… so the creative team behind CRAVITY's rebranding and Dare To Crave concept is Rakta's team? She was TXT's visual director!' Others expressed disappointment over the apparent copying of concepts, while also defending CRAVITY from direct blame. Twitter user @/52amurak wrote, 'Using the same photographer doesn't mean you can just copy Beomgyu's idea. Panic is his story, and I don't see the link between a personal story and another boy group. TXT's previous art director, Rakta, is now working for CRAVITY, and she's disrespecting both TXT and her past work.' Do you think the similarities were just coincidental or blatant plagiarism?
