
DBS Customers Complain Of "Lag" In Accessing Mobile App
DBS and POSB customers are 'experiencing slowness' in accessing the digibank mobile app, the bank said on Monday (Jun 2).
In a post on Facebook, DBS said: 'Some customers are experiencing slowness logging into DBS digibank Mobile.'While the bank is working to recover services fully, customers can continue to make payments, check account balances, withdraw cash and place trades on the bank's other channels, DBS added.
'We are sorry for the inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience and understanding.'
On outage tracking site Downdetector, users began lodging reports at 2.17pm, spiking to 1,060 reports at 3.34pm.
In the comment section of the bank's latest post on Facebook, one user wrote: 'Your app is down again.'
As of about 3.45pm, about 10 users said they had trouble accessing the app.
'This is becoming increasingly embarrassing,' read a comment.
A Facebook user asked why there was no update from the bank, while another noted experiencing slowness when logging into the app from a week ago.

Emerging Asian stock markets and currencies fell on Thursday, as cautious investors stayed away from riskier assets, weighing the possibility of the U.S. involvement in the Israel-Iran conflict. Taiwan's central bank is likely to maintain its policy rate, while Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) is expected to cut its key interest rate by 25 basis points, as slowing inflation allows it room to support the domestic economy amid weaker growth. The Taiwan dollar weakened 0.1% and the Philippine peso fell 0.4% to a more than two-month low. It is unlikely to be an easy decision for the BSP, considering peso's recent underperformance alongside rising oil prices, DBS said. BSP would likely prioritise domestic factors such as inflation and incoming activity-based indicators, which may lay the ground for further rate cuts, it added. In Thailand, political uncertainty weighed on sentiment as Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra's government was hanging by a thread, with coalition partners reconsidering their support after a major player's exit threatened to bring down the administration. The Thai baht fell 0.6% to a near three-week low and equities dropped as much as 2.4% to their lowest since April 9. Other stock markets also tumbled, with the MSCI index of Asian emerging market equities falling 1.3%. Equities in Taiwan slipped 1.4% and those in Malaysia fell 0.6%. Indonesia stocks dropped 1.6% to a one-month low, a day after the country's central bank paused its easing cycle. Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo said the central bank remains open to further lowering borrowing costs, as inflation is expected to remain within target this year and next year. The name of the international body of water has been a hot-button issue after President Donald Trump signed an executive order early in his second term, renaming it the Gulf of America, a name other countries reject. He has since barred the Associated Press news agency from certain White House events, triggering a lawsuit, as AP continues to use the international name, Gulf of Mexico. The Trump family licensed its name to the U.S. mobile service, the latest venture aiming to cash in on the president's political and cultural influence.A Reuters review of the website's code shows Trump Mobile appears to have used T-Mobile's network data for its coverage map. The telecom operator's coverage map labels the body of water as the Gulf of Mexico. The map stirred up chatter across social media before being removed, with numerous users posting screenshots of the old map. As of late morning on Tuesday, a link to Trump Mobile's coverage map returned an error, saying the page could not be found. The Trump Organization did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the coverage map being taken down from the website. Trump Mobile is powered by Liberty Mobile Wireless, a Florida-based company founded in 2018 by entrepreneur Matthew Lopatin. The company operates as a mobile virtual network operator, renting bandwidth from major carriers such as T-Mobile to offer its own service under a different name. The new venture also promised a gold smartphone eventually available for $499, though it did not say who would make the phone, as the U.S. has almost no domestic smartphone manufacturing. SoftBank seeks to raise $4.9 billion in T-Mobile share sale, Bloomberg News reports

SoftBank is offering to sell 21.5 million shares for $224 to $228 each, Bloomberg said, citing the deal terms. Bank of America Corp is working on the deal. The sale represents a discount of more than 3% to T-Mobile's closing price of $230.99 on Monday, and the stake offered would represent about 1.9% of T-Mobile's outstanding shares, Reuters calculations showed. SoftBank and T-Mobile did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment. In May, the Japanese technology investment group reported a 1.15 trillion yen ($7.94 billion) profit for the year ended March, compared with a loss of 227.6 billion yen a year earlier. SoftBank's approach of investing in high-growth technology companies is epitomized by the success of its investment in Chinese e-commerce leader Alibaba Group as well as the bankruptcy of U.S. office-space startup WeWork.
