Could the Boston Celtics trade for vet Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant?
Is there any chance that the Boston Celtics could trade for vet Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant? It is one of the biggest open secrets in the entire NBA media sphere that the Suns star will likely be on the move this offseason after a failed experiment with the Suns organization.
But do the Celtics have the sort of offer that could land the future Hall of Fame forward in a way that makes sense for Phoenix as well? And if they did have such an offer, would Durant even be interested in the move, given he would be a rental otherwise with only a single season left on his current contract?

The Boston Celtics should consider making some major changes this offseason
The Boston Celtics should consider making some major changes to their roster this offseason. Or at least that is the point of view offered up to fans of the team by two of the hosts of the CLNS Media "Still Poddable" podcast, Brian Robb and Jay King, on a recent episode of their show tackling some of the wilder rumors floating around the Celtics media sphere so far this offseason. Such a move, presumably involving trading away the likes of star forward Jaylen Brown or point guard Derrick White on top of some of the other popular candidates to be moved (including vets Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis as well as 3-and-D reserve forward Sam Hauser), would reshape the team for a future focused on the return of star swingman Jayson Tatum when he is fully back from a torn Achilles tendon. Potential Heat-Kings Trade Talks Developing Amid Kevin Durant Rumors
Potential Heat-Kings Trade Talks Developing Amid Kevin Durant Rumors originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Miami Heat's front office has zeroed in on a possible blockbuster trade with the Phoenix Suns for their 15-time All-Star Kevin Durant. Advertisement While the Heat have remained among Durant's preferred destinations as the offseason begins, the franchise may be keeping their options open. These new ventures from the Heat won't become a full pivot unless talks with the Suns fall through, but recent reports from Sactown Sports' Allen Stiles revealed that the Heat and Sacramento Kings have recently conducted intriguing discussions. Notably, Stiles shared that the name DeMar DeRozan hasn't come up in these conversations after it was believed that the 6-time All-Star could be a possible target for the Heat. Sacramento Kings star DeMar DeRozan (10).Brett Davis-Imagn Images "No DeMar DeRozan convo has happened with the Miami Heat," Stiles said Friday. Advertisement "I obviously can't tell you where I got this information, but it's someone very close to the situation that would know." After driving the point home that DeRozan has not been involved in any preliminary talks, Stiles dropped a crucial nugget of information that could stir plenty of rumors regarding the Heat's intentions this offseason. "Now, let me say it like this. No DeMar DeRozan conversation has happened with the Heat, yet. But, convos have happened with the Miami Heat." In a stunning turn of events, Stiles' report indicates that the Heat may have a level of interest in members of the Kings outside of their star scorer DeRozan, and a potential candidate could stick out. Advertisement One possible name to monitor might be the Kings' streaky scoring guard Malik Monk, who contributed a career-best 17.2 points and 5.6 assists for Sacramento in 65 appearances this past season. At just 27 years old, Monk has developed into one of the NBA's best first-guy-off-the-bench scorers, placing as the runner-up in Sixth Man of the Year voting in 2023-24. If he were to be added to the Heat prior to the 2025-26 season, he could be a perfect reserve option for their first-time All-Star Tyler Herro. In any case, the Heat acquiring any King outside of DeRozan as a pivot from the Durant pursuit would be a shock considering their perceived interest in the 3-time All-NBA Team selection.
