SBKS application process cut from 510 to 53 days starting Sept
JOHOR BAHRU: The state government has allocated RM500,000 for the development of the e-SBKS (Serah Balik Kurnia Semula) system, which aims to expedite matters related to SBKS, land status amendments, boundary subdivisions, and ownership transfers.
The system is expected to be launched in September.
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, in a Facebook post, said the initiative will significantly reduce the SBKS application processing time from 510 days to just 53 days.
'The state government also allocates RM1.55 million to upgrade the e-submission, e-search and e-consent functions of the Computerised Land Registration System (SPTB) portal. Online private search for strata titles is available and will be expanded to include land title search for landed property,' he said.
He also stated that he had the opportunity to inspect the ongoing upgrade works at the Johor Land and Mines Office, which is expected to be completed by July 31, including 12 new counters dedicated to strata title matters and the creation of 54 new positions.
'Before these upgrades, the processing capacity for strata titles was around 120 folders per day. With the new initiatives, that capacity has increased fivefold to 600 folders daily, significantly speeding up service delivery and reducing the backlog,' he added.

JOHOR BAHRU: A private sector retiree lost RM535,766 after allegedly falling victim to an online investment scam promoted via an advertisement on the Facebook application. Seri Alam District Police chief ACP Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the police received a report from a 57-year-old local man on Tuesday, who claimed losses exceeding RM500,000. He said the victim had come across a share investment advertisement on Facebook on March 13 that promised lucrative returns within a short time, and clicked on the provided link out of interest. 'Subsequently, the victim made 26 payment transactions into five different bank accounts between March 13 and June 5, totalling RM535,766. The victim was also asked to make additional payments to withdraw the so-called 'investment profits', but those requests were never fulfilled,' he said in a statement today. Mohd Sohaimi said the victim only realised he had been duped after repeated attempts to recover the investment funds proved futile. 'Preliminary checks via the CCID's 'Semak Mule' platform found that all five accounts involved had a total of 22 police reports linked to investment scams,' he said. The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating, and police are also looking into the possible involvement of mule account holders.

MIRI (June 21): Gurdwara Sahib Miri has received an allocation of RM500,000 from the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) to support its ongoing renovation works. The cheque was handed over by State Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Sebastian Ting during a brief ceremony at the temple yesterday. In his remarks, the Piasau assemblyman also reminded recipients to utilise the allocation without delay and to ensure that all costs and expenditures would be properly documented. 'Make sure to use the funds and report what has been done, so there is a proper record. 'If everything is in order, it will be easier for them (Unifor) to consider future applications,' he advised. The Sikh community in Miri has roots dating back to the 1880s, with the original 'gurdwara' (Sikh temple) built in 1919, and the current building completed in 1975. Today, it continues to serve as a place of worship and learning for the Sikh families in the area. According to the project director Gurvir Singh Sandhu, the current upgrading initiative was approved in 2021, with physical works kicking off in 2022. 'The renovation works are now about 80 per cent complete and are expected to finish by early July,' said Gurvir. Among the new features being introduced are Dayak-inspired motifs on the glass panels by the entrance, reflecting the community's appreciation for local cultures and Sarawak's multi-ethnic landscape. Ting also noted that the Sikh community here had received a total of RM2.6 million in Unifor funding over the years for various phases of upgrading works on the temple. 'In recent years, the temple has undergone various improvements including upgrades to the 'langar' hall, kitchen facilities, and space expansion to accommodate major religious events.' Ohio and Michigan Workers Demand Fair Contract, End to Unfair Labor Practices WASHINGTON, June 20, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Teamsters at Airgas are preparing to take action as the company continues to stall at the bargaining table and violate federal labor laws. Workers represented by Teamsters Local 283 in Ferndale, Mich., and Teamsters Local 507 in Cleveland have voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike. If Airgas fails to present a fair contract, workers in Michigan and Ohio will join Teamsters Local 701 members in New Jersey, who were already forced onto the picket line last week.
