#SHOWBIZ: Bella Astillah: It's an honour to meet Lee Min-ho
KUALA LUMPUR: Singer and actress Bella Astillah, 31, is delighted to finally meet one of her idols, South Korean actor Lee Min-ho. The 31-year-old Sabahan artiste spent RM500 to join a recent contest to meet and greet the South Korean star. In an interview with Harian Metro yesterday, Bella said that the contest was organised as part of a campaign by a product for which he was a brand ambassador. "I've been a long-time fan of Min-ho, so when the opportunity to meet and greet him came, I quickly bought products worth RM500," said Bella. Bella's good friend, Muar Member of Parliament Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman, however, felt that her move was a "waste of money" at a time when the cost of living was on the rise. "I told him it could be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, so it was worth it," said Bella, who shed tears of joy when she finally won her ticket to meet Min-ho.

Binastra building strong future with expanding project pipeline
KUALA LUMPUR: Binastra Corp Bhd is expected to achieve stronger earnings in the coming quarters as more projects progress along the S-curve, said RHB Research. The firm remains optimistic about the company's prospects, projecting a three-year compound annual growth rate of 132 per cent for its financial year 2025 (FY25) to FY28 earnings. "This is largely in tandem with its anticipated order book growth, backed by the expansion of its key clients beyond the Klang Valley," it said in a note. Binastra Corp has secured RM977 million in new jobs year-to-date for FY26, against the firm's internal job win target of RM4 billion (FY25 job replenishment of RM3.1 billion). "We envisage the remaining approximately RM3 billion that Binastra needs to secure (to hit the RM4 billion new job win target for FY26) to partly come from five mixed-development projects awarded by its key clients." Based on RHB Research's estimates, there could be another circa RM500 million in potential jobs on the remaining two plots of land at Jalan Kebun Teh. Exsim Development Bhd also has several other land parcels in Johor Bahru near New York Hotel and at Jalan Lumba Kuda, which could yield a cumulative gross development value of over RM3 billion, or a potential construction value exceeding RM1.5 billion, it said. Binastra Corp recorded a first quarter FY26 core profit of RM25.1 million, meeting 19 per cent of RHB Research's and the street's full-year projections. "No changes to our earnings estimates as we deem results to be in line with our expectations. Therefore, we maintain our 'buy' call on the stock, and our target price of RM2.64 remains," it added.

Johor looking to raise levy on property purchases by foreigners
The Johor state government is proposing to raise the levy on property purchases by foreign buyers from 2 per cent to 3 per cent as part of efforts to strengthen land administration and support ongoing system upgrades, said Menteri Besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi. This marks the first proposed revision to the levy since its introduction in 2014 and comes in tandem with a major overhaul of the Johor Land and Mines Office (PTG) to improve efficiency and transparency in land dealings. "The state is looking to raise the approval levy from 2 per cent (minimum RM20,000) to 3 per cent (minimum RM30,000). These adjustments are necessary to support operational costs and reflect the upgraded level of service being offered to the public and investors," Datuk Onn Hafiz said in a Facebook post on June 18. RM20,000 and RM30,000 are equivalent to S$6,000 and S$9,000 respectively. He also revealed that the proposal includes revising the land transfer registration fee for properties valued over RM500,000. Under the proposal, an additional RM500 will be charged for every RM100,000 increment in property value. The current levy and land transfer fees have been in place since 2014 and 2004 respectively, without any revision, he added. "These proposed changes were discussed between PTG, Johor Real Estate and Housing Developers Association and Johor Bar Committee to ensure the adjustments are fair and justifiable," he said. Mr Onn Hafiz, who is Machap assemblyman, said the revisions are part of a broader overhaul initiative within PTG, which is scheduled for completion by July 31 in 2025. THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK

From Lawas to KM0: Convoy 722 to celebrate Sarawak's journey to autonomy
(From left) Hanim, Yeo and Dr Ling during the press conference. MIRI (June 19): A road expedition involving motorhomes, campervans and four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicles will traverse Sarawak next month in conjunction with Sarawak Independence Day. Dubbed Convoy 722, the event is organised by the Miri Recreational Vehicle Campers Association in collaboration with civil rights activists from across Malaysia. The convoy is scheduled to flag off from Lawas on July 18 and conclude at Telok Melano, also known as Kilometre Zero, on July 21. Speaking at a press conference today, organising chairman Yeo Yaw Lee said the convoy is expected to involve 40 to 50 participants travelling in 10 recreational vehicles, including both rented and privately owned units. 'We're offering a five-day travel package at RM500 per participant, inclusive of motorhome rentals. 'However, participants are also welcome to join using their own vehicles,' he said, adding that more vehicles may be added depending on final registration numbers. He said the route will take participants through Limbang, Miri, Bintulu, Sibu, Kapit, Sarikei, Simanggang, Engkilili, Serian, and Kuching before ending in Telok Melano – a symbolic destination in the context of Sarawak's autonomy and heritage. Yeo said the group will also seek a meeting with Tanjong Datu assemblyman Azizul Annuar Adenan upon their arrival at Telok Melano. 'This convoy is not only a celebration of Sarawak Independence Day but also a tribute to the late (chief minister) Pehin Sri Adenan Satem, affectionately known as Tok Nan, for his immense contributions to Sarawak,' he said. Beyond commemoration, Convoy 722 aims to raise public awareness about Sarawak's history, state rights, and control over its own resources – elements seen as vital for the state's continued development. To support the initiative, the organisers will sell commemorative T-shirts, accept public donations, and seek sponsorships or grants from elected representatives to help cover costs. For more information or to register, interested participants or donors may call Dr Ling on 0111-8855588, Yeo on 019-8554299, or Wong on 0111-539496. Also present at the press conference were the association's chairman and convoy chief Dr Ling Tung King, as well as assistant secretary Hanim Jaraee. Convoy 722 Sarawak Independence
