Mykola Kuharevich joins Slovan Bratislava for an undisclosed fee

Hibs on-loan striker striker Mykola Kuharevich has joined Slovan Bratislava for an undisclosed fee.
Speculation had been growing about a possible return to Easter Road for the striker but he has signed a four-year deal with the Slovakian giants.
So instead of possible Europa Leage football he will be playing in the Champions League with Bratislava who recently won their 23rd title.
After a previous loan with Hibs, the 23-year-old joined the Swansea City from French side Troyes for nearly £2m back in 2023.
He struggled to establish himself in the Championship, scoring one goal in just 13 appearances.
After returning to Hibs on loan last season he scored seven goals in 28 appearances in all competitions

Cercene upstages Zarigana in Coronation Stakes

Billed as a clash between French 1,000 Guineas winner Zarigana and Owen Burrows' supplemented Falakeyah, it was the Irish outsider who stole the show to become the race's longest-priced winner at 33-1. Falakeyah's challenge faded tamely having raced keenly, but 6-4 favourite Zarigana looked prime to pounce in hands of Mickael Barzalona and in fact looked to briefly have passed Cercene. However, Irish 1,000 third Cercene was not to be denied and proved her Curragh performance was no fluke as she battled back to secure a half-length verdict. Murphy said: 'We always liked her. We left her a little longer but good fillies you always leave a little longer, you never put them over. 33/1! CERCENE WINS THE CORONATION STAKES! #ROYALASCOT — At The Races (@AtTheRaces) June 20, 2025 'He got her switched off, he's confident and he's ridden for me 17 years now. 'This is 50 years of work, that's what it is, of love and care, and all for the owners we have, all our people, it's just a whole group of people together. This is heaven on earth. 'It's a lifetime's ambition to have a Group One winner. She's by Australia – a sire I love – and her half-brother (Perotto) won the Britannia so the pedigree was there and if she was an inch bigger I wouldn't have her! 'I was hoping Lake Victoria stayed in because we'd have a lesser race and then we'd have pace and ride her easier, you know what I mean. 'She travelled well, Gary gave her a great ride, and we were thinking that being by Australia she'd stay as well. She was headed and came back again. She waited for something to head her, but she's very tough and a dream to train. The plan was today so now we'll draw new plans.' Carroll said: 'It's unbelievable. I've been riding a long time now and been placed in plenty of Group Ones. This is my first one and if I was ever to ride a Group One winner it was for Joe Murphy. 'I've been riding for him since I was a 7lb claimer and he's been very, very good to me so I'm delighted I can repay him. 'She ran a blinder at the Curragh where the slow pace didn't suit. We went a bit better gallop there today, got to the front a furlong and a half out and she waited, the French horse came and headed me; to be fair to this one she's not big but she's very tough and she stuck her head out for me. 'It's hugely satisfying to win a Group One. They're so hard to come by. Good horses are very hard to come by. To do this, Royal Ascot, magic. 'After the Guineas run, a better run race there she'd have finished closer again, I think she's taken a step forward from there and she's ultra-tough, she doesn't know when to give up.'

London City Lionesses announce high-profile signing of Danielle van de Donk

33-year-old midfielder, Danielle van de Donk, joined London City Lionesses on a free transfer following the expiry of her contract at French giants Lyon, now rebranded OL Lyonnes. Both OL Lyonnes and London City are part of Michele Kang's growing portfolio in women's football with the American investor continuing to make waves across Europe. This marks a significant first signing for the Lionesses ahead of their inaugural WSL campaign after they clinched the Championship title in May. The club operates independently of any men's team - setting it apart in a league dominated by affiliated giants like Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United. Van de Donk brings with her a wealth of experience and a winning streak. She lifted the WSL trophy with Arsenal in 2019 and played a central role in the Netherlands' European Championship victory in 2017, later helping the team reach the 2019 World Cup final. Speaking after the announcement, van de Donk said: 'I feel really good about this decision. It's such a nice environment to be in, the club really appeals to me, it reminds me of a little family, and I want to be a part of it. The project that London City have, it's different but in a good way. London City have to battle for everything and that's my style.' The veteran midfielder has penned a two year deal and will be central to a team aiming to challenge the established order in English women's football. Elsewhere in the women's game the FA has confirmed plans to expand the WSL to 14 teams starting from the 2026-27 season, a move that signals continued growth and investment in the top tier. In the third tier Burnley have appointed two time WSL winning manager Matt Beard as their new head coach, making headlines as they gear up for a transition to full time professionalism. The former Liverpool manager was in advanced discussions with Burnley and told the club's media channels: 'I'm so impressed with everybody I've met at the club and the conversations I've had, and I'm looking forward to getting started.' Beard, who was previously in charge at Chelsea and West Ham, arrives with the club preparing to become a full-time women's football operation from next season.

Hibs first teamers will get a chance to reconnect with supporters ahead of a potentially exciting season when they take part in the Ron Gordon Football Festival at East Mains tomorrow. And gaffer David Gray believes it represents an ideal opportunity to repay fans for keeping the faith during last season's most difficult moments. The bulk of Gray's squad – minus players who have been on international duty during a busy summer – reported back to Hibernian Training Centre this morning for testing. They'll be back tomorrow for a light session. Jordan Obita, Rudi Molotnikov and Jordan Smith are also lined up to coach, while a number of former Hibs greats – including former player and manager John 'Yogi' Hughes – will be taking charge of teams. There's a proper rivalry on the cards as the Cadden brothers, Chris and Nicky, go head-to-head as opposition managers. Scottish Cup-winning centre-half Darren McGregor, who has just led his under-18s to the CAS Elite League title, will also be running a team. Training in morning - before fun begins For Gray, who has spoken often about his pride at seeing the connection between supporters and team repaired and rebuilt last season, the chance to give something back tomorrow is important, the former skipper saying: 'Saturday we've got the Ron Gordon Challenge in the afternoon which will be good - because straight away the players will be back and interacting with the fans again, which is great. The supporters played a big part in what we achieved last season, so it's going to be great for so many of them to get up close to the players and keep building that bond. 'We'll train in the morning, before that a bit of an introduction session back onto the grass. Obviously nothing mental but a wee introduction to get back in there, and then players will be involved in the festival.' The festival is named in honour of late chairman Ron Gordon, who was passionate abut the Foundation's work in the local community. HCF chairman Steve Smith said: 'We are absolutely thrilled to have Joe and the others signing on this year for the Ron Gordon Football Festival. The work done by the entire team at the foundation affects the community in such a positive light, and whenever players – current and past – get involved it always allows us to elevate the event and draw more attention to the great work we do. I'm really excited for the day and can't wait to see how the players go with their coaching.' For more information on tomorrow's festival, click here.
