The fire guests just keep on coming! This week, Brooklyn rapper and actor Joey Bada$$ joins host Jeremy Hecht for UPROXX's Sound Check, a new weekly interview series revealing your favorite artist's musical taste. Each high-stakes, 12-round episode features a carefully curated playlist of impossible choices, unearthing some never-before-heard stories and creative influences. This episode was recorded about an hour before Joey went into the booth and recorded his game-shaking verse during the Red Bull Spiral cypher with Ab-Soul and Big Sean at the Red Bull studios.
Everyone in the hip hop community is aware of the current East coast vs. West coast battle that Joey just so happens to be in the middle of. With that being the case, it only make sense that he was forced to choose between songs from two of his favorite artists of all time – 'Changes' by Tupac ft. Talent and 'Sky's The Limit' by The Notorious B.I.G. ft. 112. Joey chose the Pac classic and said. 'I think the Tupac 'Changes' one is definitely like, that's probably number one…that's a generational classic…That joint it just do something to you…I probably listen to 'Sky's The Limit' more though, but I gotta give it to 'Changes'.'
As a New York native, being a fan of both Jay-Z and Nas is almost embedded in you. Later in the episode, Joey had to pick which track he preferred from two of his favorite albums of all time – 'Dead Presidents II' by Jay-Z and 'World Is Yours' by Nas. The 30 year-old decided on the former: 'Out of the two songs that you play for me, I got to go 'Dead Presidents'…as much as I love Ilmatic, 'World is Yours' is not my favorite joint on there, you know what I'm saying. Like if you played 'It Ain't Hard to Tell' then it would have been a different conversation you know what I mean but…it's funny that 'Dead President' is not my favorite song on Reasonable Doubt either…'Friend or Foe' is probably my favorite.'
In the final round, Hecht flips the script and turns the tables on himself by attempting to guess the track Joey says represents his entire life. Given two options—'Bag Lady' by Erykah Badu and 'Something About Us' by Daft Punk—Hecht correctly guessed 'Something About Us'. When asked about his song selection, Joey answers, 'That's my favorite song of all time…I can't even remember when I found that song um, that's on their Discovery album and uh I don't know bro it's just like it's so funky but it got like a hip-hop kind of R&B element to it, and then it's like when the words come it's like the perfect words bro…like me and my daughter listen to that song, it's one of her favorite songs now too.'

Parents Throw Trader Joe's-Obsessed 4-Year-Old the Perfect Themed Birthday Party (Exclusive)
Jenni and Sean Glester had a special idea, a year in the making, in mind for their son Joey's 4th birthday party The "Trader Joey" themed event celebrated all the birthday boy's favorites from Trader Joe's The family tells PEOPLE about the special meaning behind their son's name and why this event is one they'll always rememberA newly minted 4-year-old's family went all out to give him a celebration that fit him just right. Jenni Glester and her husband Sean put together an epic Trader Joe's-themed 4th birthday party in celebration of her son Joey, who loves visiting the store with his mom. The Florida toddler enjoys "pushing the kid-sized red cart, picking out produce and shopping for new snacks," his mom tells PEOPLE. "Celebrating Joey and gathering with loved ones are two of our favorite things to do. We came up with the theme a few years ago," Jenni shares. "We were brainstorming and planning for almost a year ... taking note of his favorite snacks and fun touches that make Trader Joe's so unique. Sticking exclusively to Trader Joe's food and beverages was a fun challenge — and we even found some new favorites in the process!" Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. For Jenni, getting the celebration just right meant nailing all the details. For decor, the family saved up packaging from their Trader Joe's favorites "for several months, to repurpose for decor and a 'shopping' area." The group of over 20 parents and kids also enjoyed a "create your own bouquet" area, inspired by the store's fresh-flower selection, with flowers from Kings Wholesale Florist. Kids also had fun playing in a "Trader Joey's" bounce house, supplied by The White Bounce House of Tampa and Sarasota. As for the menu, Joey's favorites — Diner Mac 'N Cheese, meatballs, mini chocolate chip cookies, cheese, crackers, fruit and vegetables — were all included. Goodie bags were filled with his favorite snacks, including fruit leather and seasonal Cherry Lemon animal crackers. There were juice boxes for the kids to sip on, while grown-up guests enjoyed a selection of Trader Joe's wine and beer, like Two Buck Chuck, Josephsbrau Grapefruit Radler, Boatswaine IPA and Tarogino Frizzante Sparkling Orange Wine. The family even fit in a crafty approach to birthday cake. Joey's birthday cake consisted of six Strawberry Lemon Mini Sheet Cakes brought together. "We had a lot of fun challenging ourselves to purchase everything we served from Trader Joe's. All food and drinks were from there! The cake was six of the Strawberry Lemon Sheet Cakes, assembled with Lemon Curd between the layers, then topped with fruit. The kids loved the Diner Mac and Cheese, meatballs and tons of other snacks," Jenni says. The result was a birthday party that both the birthday boy and his family are sure to remember forever. "Joeyboy is so fun-loving. He's game for all of his mom's wild ideas — and he had the best time celebrating with his friends and family," Sean says. Jenni notes that while it was a fun event to put together, it celebrates something even more special related to Joey's name. "The theme is a fun pun on Joey's name, but it's extra special to us, because he's named after Sean's late dad, Joe, and my late mom, Joanne," she explains. "This was the perfect way to lean into something Joey loves, while also celebrating his name, which means the world to us." The family had "so much fun" putting the event together that they're already starting to work on ideas for Joey's 5th birthday. Read the original article on People

HBO Max's new No.1 movie is a blockbuster action-thriller with a ‘Star Wars' alumna — and it's a total ‘Die Hard' clone
1988's action classic 'Die Hard' has been mimicked and imitated for almost four decades, but few movies have so shamelessly aped John McClane's explosive escapade in Nakatomi Plaza as 'Cleaner.' In a nutshell, this 2025 action-thriller is basically 'Die Hard' in London, and it swaps out Bruce Willis for Daisy Ridley, most known for her role as Rey in the 'Star Wars' saga. The movie was released in theatres back in February and barely registered at the box office, but its arrival this month on HBO Max has seen it make a larger splash. 'Cleaner' has rocketed straight to the No. 1 spot on the streaming service's top 10 most-watched list. If you're looking for a jolt of excitement to kick off your week, and you don't mind the sense of déjà vu that comes with a movie that copies a true classic, then 'Cleaner' might just be worth adding to your watchlist. Need more details? Here's everything you need to know about this No. 1 HBO Max movie. Set in the U.K. capital city of London, 'Cleaner' sees a group of environmental activists attempt to expose an energy conglomerate's shady practices by crashing the company's swanky gala held in a towering high-rise building. The initially peaceful plan is hijacked by an extremist in their group who wants to send a bloody message to the entire world. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. At the same time this is going down, Joey Locke (Ridley) is starting her shift as a window cleaner. However, Joey isn't just skilled at washing windows; she's also a former soldier with a lethal set of combat skills. When the activists begin taking hostages, including Joey's younger brother, Michael (Matthew Tuck), she is forced to step in to save those trapped inside the skyscraper. Also starring Clive Owen as the radical leader of the ecoactivist group, 'Cleaner' is the latest effort from genre veteran Martin Campbell, most known for directing acclaimed Bond movies 'GoldenEye' and 'Casino Royale.' He also helmed 2005's 'The Legend of Zorro,' but let's not talk about that one... 'Cleaner' wins very few points for originality, and it certainly lacks the dynamism of its hero and villain that made 'Die Hard' such a juggernaut success. Daisy Ridley and Clive Owen are a solid pairing, but you just can't top Bruce Willis and Alan Rickman. However, that doesn't automatically mean you should dismiss this HBO Max action-thriller. It falls into the easy watching category. It gives you exactly what you'd expect given the setup, even if it's totally adverse to taking any risks. Right down to the subplot about Joey's brother, each component feels predictable, but they all fit together to create an action-thriller that is always competent. I appreciate that's not glowing praise, but 'Cleaner' isn't really a flick that elicits strong emotions either way. It's a perfectly serviceable movie at its core. That was the general consensus from critics as well. At present, 'Cleaner' holds a very average 53% score on Rotten Tomatoes from 80 reviews in total. That sees the movie fall into the 'rotten' side of the site's scale, but it's not a terrible score, just a very middling one. 'Daisy Ridley's credible action chops and Martin Campbell's smooth direction keep Cleaner from being a mess, but this thriller borrows one too many elements from better predecessors to have a polished identity of its own,' reads Rotten Tomatoes' 'Critics Consensus.' Tomris Laffly of Variety calls it a 'modest popcorn caper.' While Richard Roeper of the Chicago Sun-Times notes it's ''Die Hard' just with different people.' Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter's Frank Scheck was a little more positive when assessing 'Cleaner.' 'Campbell clearly knows his way around this sort of material, resulting in some tense, well-staged action sequences that make Cleaner reasonably diverting for its concise running time. But the film never achieves the heights of the classic actioners,' said Scheck. On the flip side, a more negative write-up came from John Nugent over at Empire Magazine: Cleaner has good people behind it but this British attempt at a Die Hard ends up just being a bit of a mess. Yippee-ki-nay.' I very much appreciate the pun! Viewers warmed to 'Cleaner' a little more than critics, rating it 66% on RT's Popcornmeter, but the two scores fall broadly into the same ballpark. In short, this action-thriller movie is well-constructed enough to keep you entertained, and Daisy Ridley has enough action hero credit to keep things ticking along nicely, but it's not going to live long in the memory. Perhaps its biggest advantage is that it runs a very lean 96 minutes, so there's not really enough time for you to get annoyed at all the ideas it pinches from better action movies. Instead, it's a breezy watch, with enough thrills to keep you engaged, even if you've seen this formula done elsewhere to a higher overall standard. Not sold? Here's a roundup of everything new added to HBO Max in June 2025, which has plenty of alternative picks worth considering. Watch "Cleaner" on HBO Max now
