Bruce Springsteen delves into Mexican Revolution on new 'Tracks II' single
Here's to the brave female 'soldaderas' of the Mexican Revolution.
'Adelita' by Bruce Springsteen tells their story, and it's the latest preview single from the upcoming 'Tracks II: The Lost Albums' box set, due Friday, June 27. The new track was released Thursday, May 29, and it's part of the 'Inyo' lost album.
'Adelita' is a stirring ballad, or more specifically a corrido, with echoes of battle, blood and honor swept up in the dusty haze of history. The Mexican Revolution took place 1910 to 1920. Listen to 'Adelita' here.
'Inyo' is a Native American word that means 'dwelling place of the great spirit,' and it's also the name of Inyo County, located in the eastern central part of California. The album was partly inspired by the 1990s motorcycle rides across the Southwest Springsteen took when he lived in Los Angeles.
'There was constant border reporting in the Los Angeles Times, so it was a big part of your life,' said Springsteen in a statement. ' 'Inyo' was a record I wrote in California during long drives along the California aqueduct, up through Inyo County on my way to Yosemite or Death Valley. I was enjoying that kind of writing so much.
"(On 'The Ghost of Tom Joad' tour 1995 to 1997), I would go home to the hotel room at night and continue to write in that style because I thought I was going to follow up 'The Ghost of Tom Joad' with a similar record, but I didn't. That's where 'Inyo' came from. It's one of my favorites.'
'Inyo' is primarily a solo album, but the Boss does have some help. Mariachi musicians Luis Villalobos, Alberto Villalobos, Angel Ramos, Humberto Manuel Flores Gutierrez, David Glukh, Jorge Espinosa and Miguel Ponce are heard on 'Adelita' and several other songs.
For the release, Team Springsteen shared record notes on Thursday: 'Thematically, several songs on the record examine the Mexican diaspora, how border crossing between Mexico and the U.S. has affected generations and the cultural losses endured as a result. It's a musical thread that Springsteen first began to examine by covering Ry Cooder's 'Across the Borderline' on his 1988 Tunnel of Love Express tour.'
The world 'Adelita' has a strong association for Springsteen and his fans. The Boss' mom was named Adele.
The song 'Adelita' is the fifth to be shared from 'Tracks II' following 'Rain in the River' from the lost album 'Perfect World'; 'Blind Spot' from 'Streets of Philadelphia Sessions'; 'Faithless' from Faithless'; and 'Repo Man' from 'Somewhere North of Nashville.'
Springsteen's upcoming 'Tracks II: The Lost Albums' includes 83 songs on the seven unreleased albums recorded between 1983 and 2018.

Everything You Need To Know About ‘The Bear' Season 4
Jeremy Allen White stars in season four of "The Bear," which premieres on Hulu on FX on Wednesday, ... More June 25. Season four of The Bear, FX on Hulu's award-winning series about the trials of a Chicago chef who returns home to run the family business after his brother's death, is one of the most-anticipated shows of the summer. The series has become an Emmy darling, winning a record-setting 11 in the comedy category last September, despite controversy over whether it is actually a comedy. Star Jeremy Allen White has won two Emmys for his role as chef Carmy, and his profile is on the rise—he headlines an upcoming movie about Bruce Springsteen. Here is everything you need to know about The Bear season 4. When Does The Bear Season 4 Return? The Bear season 4 premieres on Hulu on FX on Wednesday, June 25. Every episode will be available to stream that day. Hulu rolled out season three of The Bear a bit early due to huge buzz around the show, but the streamer has not indicated any plans to do the same for this season. The Bear Season 4 Trailer Here is The Bear season 4 trailer: How Many Episodes Of The Bear Season 4? Season four of The Bear has 10 episodes. Seasons two and three also had 10 episodes, while season 1 had only eight. The Bear Season 4: Where to Watch You can watch season four of The Bear on Hulu, which carries the Hulu on FX brand exclusively. Subscriptions to Hulu cost $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year for an ad-supported version. An $18.99 per month version contains no ads. Disney also offers Hulu bundles with Disney+ and ESPN+. The Bear Season 4 Cast White plays Carmy, who has taken on the ambitious goal of turning his brother's neighborhood sandwich joint into a Michelin-rated, upscale establishment. He assembles a staff that includes some family and some found family, whose dynamics help drive the show. The cast is one of the best on TV, with Ayo Edebiri a particular standout. The Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning actress plays Carmy's sous chef, Sydney Adamu, and she has also written for and directed the series. Last year, Liza Colón-Zayas earned a Best Supporting Actress Emmy for her role as cook Tina Marrero, becoming the first Latina actress to earn the award. Ebon Moss-Bachrach also received an Emmy, winning Best Supporting Actor for playing Carmy's cousin who works at the restaurant. Other primary cast members include Lionel Boyce, Abby Elliott, Matty Matheson and Oliver Platt. Jamie Lee Curtis earned Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for playing Carmy's mother, first seen in flashbacks. The Bear Season 4 Story And Plotlines Season three ended on a cliffhanger—what appeared to be the Chicago Tribune's review of the newly opened restaurant, which Carmy seemed to react poorly to. A bad review could endanger the funding provided by Cicero (Platt). Sydney is also deciding between becoming Carmy's partner in the restaurant or leaving for a new opportunity at a proven kitchen. In the season four trailer, Carmy seems to realize that he needs to adjust his attitude if he wants to keep his staff members happy. The Bear Season 4 Guest Stars The Bear has become known for incredible cameos and guest appearances. In addition to Curtis, the most notable appearances include Molly Ringwald in season one, Bob Odenkirk and John Mulaney in season two, and Olivia Colman, Joel McHale, Bradley Cooper and John Cena in season three. Who will guest star this season on The Bear? Hulu and FX executives have been tight-lipped, but Curtis does appear in a trailer.

Rock Legend Says His Kids 'Ignore' His Success
Rock Legend Says His Kids 'Ignore' His Success originally appeared on Parade. Bruce Springsteen is one of the most iconic musicians of all time - but his three kids are unphased by his success. In and interview with The Times published on Saturday, June 21, the legendary rocker shares that his three kids - Evan, 34, Jessica, 33, and Samuel, 31 - do not display his memorabilia in their New Jersey family home. 🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬 "Except for a few guitars and a piano, you wouldn't know musicians lived here," Springsteen, 75, said of the home he shares with wife and fellow E Street Band member Patti Scialfa. "The kids grew up in another house in town, a midsized home not unlike the ones their friends lived in, and we tried to keep a very natural domestic existence for them. Anything else is a burden they don't need." Springsteen, who described himself as an "attention whore", also told The Times that his children couldn't care less about his musical success. "They ignore it," the Born in the U.S.A. singer said. "They might come to a show, bring their friends, but it's never been a central part of their lives." The interview comes shortly after Springsteen's biopic, Deliver Me From Nowhere, started making headlines. The film, which will star The Bear's Jeremy Allen White as the iconic rocker, will offer an intimate look at the making of Springsteen's album Nebraska, blending his rise to superstardom with a raw glimpse into his early life in Freehold, New Jersey. Deliver Me From Nowhere will be released in theaters on Oct. 24, 2025. What ‘The Lost Albums' Say About Bruce Springsteen
SAN SEBASTIAN, GUIPUZCOA BASQUE, SPAIN - JUNE 21: The singer Bruce Springsteen performs during his ... More concert at the Reale Arena, on 21 June, 2025 in San Sebastian, Guipuzcoa, Basque Country, Spain. It is the first of only two dates of the artist in Spain in 2025 (the second will be on Tuesday, June 24, also at the Reale Arena), within the European tour Land of Hope and Dreams with the E Street Band. Bruce Springsteen, nicknamed The Boss, is one of the most influential musicians and composers in rock history. He is best known for his work with the E Street Band, his backing band since 1972, and for being a pioneer of heartland rock, a style that combines classic rock with poetic and socially engaged lyrics that reflect the life of working-class Americans. (Photo By Unanue/Europa Press via Getty Images) 'Two faces have I One that laughs, one that cries One says hello, one says goodbye' Bruce Springsteen, 'Two Faces,' 1987 Taken off Springsteen's brilliant 1987 Tunnel of Love album, this gem is ostensibly written about a troubled relationship. But as someone who has interviewed so many of the greatest songwriters ever – Mike Stoller, Paul Simon, Willie Nelson, Jackson Browne, Stevie Wonder, Dolly Parton, Stevie Nicks, Tom Petty – the list goes on and on, I can tell you most songwriters will tell you that songs often have multiple meanings and hidden subtext even the writers don't know about. I have had countless songwriters tell me they often don't know what a song is about until years later. So, it is very interesting to revisit this particular track nearly 40 years later with two facts in mind. One, it was on the album that directly preceded Springsteen disbanding the legendary E Street Band for a dozen years. Two, looking at the song in the wake of the massive seven album, 83-song Tracks II: The Lost Albums set coming out Friday (June 27), it could easily be an artistic confession. Because, although unlike Tracks, these are seven complete individual albums, when you look at them as a whole, they very much reveal the duality of Springsteen, the musician. Almost all great artists have multiple artistic sides to them. Tom Waits, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Prince, John Lennon – if you go through their whole bodies of work, you see great detours along what is considered their artistic path. And some, like Waits, their whole career is exploration. So, to say Springsteen has multiple artistic personalities is not unusual. It is recognizing that as a true artist he has the normal wanderlust all great musicians do. In Springsteen's case though it is particularly interesting because he has created a larger-than-life persona. This year is a perfect example. As he gets set to release this incredibly introspective collection he is currently touring overseas, playing stadiums to nearly 100,000 fans a night and again being recognized as an American hero for leading the artistic charge against the current presidential administration. In a way, the Springsteen leading the E Street Band and tens of thousands in anthemic rockers like 'Badlands' and 'Born to Run' is a version of Superman. Well, if that version is Superman, the Springsteen of these seven albums is Clark Kent. Each of the seven albums – LA Garage Sessions '83, Streets of Philadelphia Sessions, Faithless, Somewhere North of Nashville, Inyo, Twilight Hours and Perfect World – has its own vibe and standout songs. LA Garage Sessions '83, the collection that famously bridges Nebraska and Born in the USA, is 18 songs that range from the goofy, fun 'Little Girl Like You' to the story song 'Jim Deer,' a natural continuation of from Nebraska. The standout song is the incredibly sweet 'County Fair,' a song beautiful in its simplicity and innocence. The famed Streets of Philadelphia Sessions does not disappoint. The 10-song album, which opens with the recently released 'Blind Spot' is driven by looping and rhythmic beats like on 'Between Heaven And Hell' and the somber, even a little sinister 'Something In The Well.' The highlight is 'Maybe I Don't Know You,' a powerful statement on insecurity in a relationship. Faithless, the soundtrack to a never-made movie is a gorgeous collection driven by a quest for answers and hope and propelled by religion. The record features at least six noteworthy songs out of the 11, including the Tom Waits-like 'All God's Children,' a screaming mix of blues and gospel, the stunning elegy 'Let Me Ride' and the Johnny Cash-esque title track, a beautiful hymn. The standout though is the breathtaking ballad 'God Sent You.' Somewhere North of Nashville, is, as the name implies, the most country record of the set. From the beautiful 'Poor Side of Town' and 'Delivery Man,' a very up-tempo, almost rockabilly tune, to the lush title track, the record is almost all country. The standout is 'You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone,' a sweet song that feels like '70s era Tom Waits doing country. The largely Spanish and Mexican-influenced Inyo is next. The 10-song record is heavily influenced by both words of music, from 'The Lost Charro,' which is Mexican and unique on the set, to the Spanish-styled 'One False Move.' The highlight is the gorgeous gospel song, 'When I Build My Beautiful House.' The lush Twilight Hours, arguably the strongest individual album in the set, is a masterful work of strings, crooning and gorgeous arrangements. Every track is a standout on this one, including each of the first four; the gorgeous 'Sunday Love' and 'Late in the Evening' and the crooners, 'Two of Us' and 'Lonely Town.' – Finally, the set ends with the more rock-based Perfect World. Heavier in tempo and vibes on songs like 'Blind Man' and the rocking gospel fee of 'You Lifted Me Up,' these 10 songs have more of a grit, led by the slow build of 'If I Could Only Be Your Lover.' So, each of the albums is musically strong and worthy of exploring. Ultimately though the most compelling part about Tracks II: The Lost Albums is what it shows about Springsteen as a complete artist. It shows an artist, like so many other greats, on a journey for an artistic vision that is ongoing and like all true greats, is much more about the quest than the destination.
