
Nidec expands India footprint with launch of Orchard hub manufacturing campus in Hubli, Karnataka
Nidec Corporation ('Nidec'), a global leader in electric motors, generators, renewable energy solutions, and industrial machinery, has officially inaugurated its advanced manufacturing campus, Orchard Hub, in the Kotur-Belur industrial area of Hubli-Dharwad, Karnataka. The event marks the beginning of machinery and equipment installation across all six plants, setting the stage for production to begin later this year.The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mr. M. B. Patil, Honourable Cabinet Minister for Large & Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, Government of Karnataka, along with Mr.Michael Briggs, President of Nidec Motion & Energy. With Mr.Nakane Tsutomu, Consul General of Japan in Bangalore and Mr.Marc Lamy, Consul General of France in Bangalore, also in attendance, the milestone celebrated Orchard Hub's significance at both regional and international levels. The completion of the Orchard Hub campus represents a major milestone in Nidec's ongoing expansion in India. As the company's eighth and largest manufacturing facility in the country, the 50-acre campus highlights Nidec's strong commitment to regional industrial growth and India's wider economic vision.The project's groundbreaking ceremony was held in September 2023, and the campus was completed in just 20 months, a testament to meticulous planning and efficient execution. With the inauguration now complete, Nidec will begin the installation of plant machinery and equipment, with production expected to commence later this year.The Orchard Hub campus is poised to become a key manufacturing center serving multiple high-growth sectors, including generators for data centers, wind turbine generators and battery energy storage systems (BESS) for renewable energy, electric vehicle motors, controllers, and EV chargers for clean mobility, as well as high-efficiency motors, drives, and system solutions across various industries. Built on Nidec's 3Q6S lean manufacturing principles and equipped with advanced automation, the facility is committed to delivering world-class products for customers worldwide. Strategically located, the campus is designed to provide innovative solutions and outstanding service to both domestic and global markets. In line with its sustainability goals, Nidec plans to make the Orchard Hub campus carbon-neutral by 2028 through the adoption of solar power, in-house microgrid systems, and BESS technologies.
The facility is expected to create over 1,000 direct and 1,000 indirect employment opportunities in the region. In Bihar, PM Modi To Launch New Vande Bharat, Inaugurate Rs 5,000-Cr Development Projects Today
Last Updated: PM Modi will visit Siwan, Bihar on Friday to launch a new Vande Bharat Express and unveil development projects worth over Rs 5,000 crore. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Bihar's Siwan on Friday for the launch of a new Vande Bharat Express train and to bring a development package worth over Rs 5,000 crore. According to an official release, the new Vande Bharat Express will be launched to run between Patliputra and Gorakhpur via Muzaffarpur and Bettiah, in a major boost to connectivity in North Bihar. Furthering the vision of 'Make in India – Make for the World', PM Modi will also flag off a state-of-the-art locomotive built at the Marhowra Plant, for export to the Republic of Guinea. This is the first export locomotive manufactured in this factory, and is equipped with high-horsepower engines, an advanced AC propulsion system, microprocessor-based control systems, ergonomic cab designs and incorporates technologies like regenerative braking, according to the release. In line with his commitment to conservation and rejuvenation of the river Ganga, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also inaugurate six Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) under the Namami Gange project worth over Rs 1800 crore, catering to the needs of people in the region. Additionally, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for water supply, sanitation and Sewage Treatment Plants worth over Rs 3,000 crore in various towns across Bihar, aiming to provide clean and safe drinking water to the citizens of these towns. In a major boost to power infrastructure in the region, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for a 500 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity in the state, the release stated. Standalone BESSs are being installed at 15 grid substations of the state, including Muzaffarpur, Motihari, Bettiah, and Siwan, among others. The capacity of the battery to be installed in each sub-station is between 20 to 80 MWh. It will save the distribution companies from buying electricity at expensive rates by feeding the already stored electricity back to the grid, directly benefiting the consumers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also release the first instalment to more than 53,600 beneficiaries of PMAY U in Bihar. He will also hand over keys to a few beneficiaries to mark the 'Grih Pravesh' ceremony of more than 6,600 completed houses of PMAY U, according to the release. BJP GEARING UP FOR ELECTIONS IN BIHAR PM Modi's visit to Siwan district has energised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is gearing up for crucial assembly elections in a few months and is relying heavily on the appeal of its most popular leader to boost its prospects. According to Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, the Prime Minister's latest tour was 'the second in only 20 days and the fifth this year", in an indication that the eastern province was high on the priority of the government. PM Modi's last visit to the state was on May 29-30, when he inaugurated a new 'world-class" terminal of the Patna airport, held a roadshow in the state capital and addressed a rally in Rohtas district where projects worth Rs 50,000 crore were launched. Choudhary, who also holds the finance portfolio in the state government, lavished praise on the Centre for 'opening its coffers for Bihar" and giving a boost to 'Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's model of development". 'Ours has been a government which has worked for the poor without caring about their caste or religion. Efforts like pucca houses for the poor, free cooking gas connections and cheap refill cylinders, 30 crore Jan Dhan bank accounts and free ration have transformed the lives of the people", said the Deputy CM.

Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the Siwan district of Bihar on June 20, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of multiple infrastructure and development projects worth Rs 5,700 crore. In a significant push for railway infrastructure, PM Modi will inaugurate the Vaishali–Deoria railway line project, built at a cost of over Rs 400 crore. A new train service will also be flagged off on this route. The visit will also witness the flagging off of the Patliputra-Gorakhpur Vande Bharat Express, via Muzaffarpur and Bettiah, marking a new chapter in high-speed rail connectivity in North Bihar. In a major milestone under the 'Make in India – Make for the World' initiative, PM Modi will flag off the first export locomotive manufactured at the Marhowra Plant. The locomotive is destined for the Republic of Guinea and features high-horsepower engines, advanced AC propulsion, regenerative braking, and microprocessor-based controls. In alignment with his commitment to Ganga rejuvenation, the Prime Minister will inaugurate six new Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) under the Namami Gange program, collectively worth Rs 1,800 crore. These projects aim to significantly reduce pollution and improve sanitation in towns across Bihar. PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for STPs, sanitation, and water supply projects worth over Rs 3,000 crore in several towns of the state, ensuring safe and clean drinking water for thousands of households. Taking a leap in renewable energy efficiency, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for a 500 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). These standalone storage units will be installed at 15 substations, including Siwan, Muzaffarpur, Bettiah, and Motihari, with capacities ranging from 20 MWh to 80 MWh. The BESS will enable power utilities to store energy during off-peak hours and release it during high demand, helping to cut electricity costs and benefit consumers directly. Continuing support to housing for all, the Prime Minister will release the first instalment of assistance to more than 53,600 beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U). Additionally, PM Modi will hand over keys to select beneficiaries of 6,600 newly completed houses, marking their Grih Pravesh (housewarming). This visit marks PM Modi's second trip to Bihar in less than a month and his fifth this year, reflecting the Centre's growing focus on Bihar's development in the lead-up to the state assembly elections.
