Jagan Reddy's Aide Arrested At Bengaluru Airport In Andhra Liquor Scam Probe

Andhra Pradesh Police have arrested Jagan Mohan Reddy's aide and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) general secretary Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy in the multi-crore liquor scam. He was intercepted at the Kempe Gowda International Airport in Bengaluru by immigration officials on Tuesday night as a lookout notice was issued against him by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the scam. He was allegedly trying to fly abroad.
The immigration authorities informed the Andhra Pradesh Police. The SIT team arrested Bhaskar Reddy and his aide Venkatesh Naidu in the early hours of Wednesday. Both were being brought to Vijayawada, where they will be produced before the ACB court.
The SIT informed the court on Tuesday that it has included six individuals, including Bhaskar Reddy, as the accused in the case.
Bhaskar Reddy, a former MLA from Chandragiri, is listed as the 38th accused in the case. The SIT has so far arrested 39 accused in the case.
The YSRCP leader said he had no role in the liquor scam that purportedly took place during the YSRCP government's term.
Bhaskar Reddy also accused the SIT of physically assaulting a head constable, N. Madan Reddy, who had served as his gunman for 10 years, in a bid to extract a fake confession on his involvement in the scam.
The head constable has complained to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and the Director General of Police against the alleged high-handed behaviour of the SIT officials.
Meanwhile, Bhaskar Reddy's son and YSRCP leader Chevireddy Mohith Reddy has condemned the TDP-led coalition government for plotting to falsely implicate Bhaskar Reddy in the "so-called" liquor scam.
He alleged that SIT officials were using coercion and police force to extract false statements from former gunmen of Bhaskar Reddy.
Mohith Reddy revealed that SIT officers had summoned former gunmen, including Giri and Madan Reddy, and subjected them to physical torture when they refused to provide fabricated statements. He said Madan Reddy was beaten so severely that he had to be hospitalised and is currently under treatment.
He questioned whether refusing to lie against Bhaskar Reddy was a crime and condemned the SIT's brutal treatment. Mohith Reddy stated that Madan Reddy has filed a petition in the High Court seeking protection from further harassment, which clearly shows how law enforcement is being misused.

The SIT is also trying to identify why the accused obtained call records data from the service providers and on whose orders this was done. The SIT officers are calling victims to record statements as witnesses by showing the Call Detail Records (CDRs) which were taken by the accused officers under key codes such as CAT 1, CAT 2, CAT 3 and so on. The SIT is also inquiring with the victims whether there was any intimidation, extortion, or other problems created by the accused officers between March 2023 and November 2023. If such activities are reported, the SIT is also accepting complaints from the victims and including these in the CRPC 161 statements. The SIT is likely to record the statement of former DGP M Mahender Reddy. Prabhakar Rao reportedly stated to the investigation officer that his appointment was made by Mahender and that he followed instructions from higher officials. Meanwhile, the SIT is also set to record the statement of Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay at a convenient time, likely Monday or Tuesday, as a witness, as his phone was also allegedly tapped by the accused officers.

New twist to man's death during Jagan Mohan Reddy's rally in Andhra's Guntur
In a new twist to the case relating to the death of a person during YSRCP President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's June 18 rally in Guntur district, a video has surfaced allegedly showing the victim coming under the wheels of the vehicle carrying the former chief minister. The video was widely shared on social media platforms since Saturday, but its veracity could not be confirmed. The video shows Jagan standing on the door of his vehicle to wave at his supporters who were vying with each other to shake hands with him, and a man coming under the front wheel of the vehicle. The police have not yet reacted to the video, while the YSR Congress Party has dismissed it as an attempt to tarnish the image of its leader. Cheeli Singaiah (65) died after a vehicle in Jagan Mohan Reddy's convoy hit him on the National Highway at Etukuru village in Guntur district. The former chief minister was organising a rally from Tadepalli in Guntur district to Sattenapalli in Palnadu district to console party functionary Korlakunta Nagamalleswara Rao, who died by suicide due to alleged harassment by police and TDP leaders. According to police, Cheeli Singaiah had come to participate in the rally. Guntur District Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar had confirmed the same day that Singaiah was hit by a vehicle in Jagan's convoy. The SP stated that after the accident, the convoy moved without stopping there and taking care of the victim. YSRCP supporter ‘run over by Jagan's vehicle' in bid to shower flowers on it, Andhra police begin probe as video goes viral
Police in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh have launched an investigation after a YSRCP supporter was allegedly run over by the vehicle of party president and former chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday. Cheeli Singaiah, 55, died after being run over purportedly when he slipped and fell in front of the vehicle while trying to shower flowers on Jagan. According to officials, the vehicle's front right wheel ran over the man's neck. Police and YSRCP supporters rushed him to a nearby hospital and later to Guntur Government Hospital, but he died on the way, said Guntur Superintendent of Police S Satish Kumar. Initially, it was thought that Singaiah was injured after climbing on a vehicle in Jagan's convoy and falling down, but videos of him being crushed under the vehicle in which Jagan was travelling have gone viral on social media. Singaiah was a resident of Vengalayapalem village and had gone to greet Jagan with flowers. The incident occurred when Jagan was returning after visiting Rentapalla village in Palnadu district, where he had gone to console the family of a former sarpanch who had died by suicide, allegedly due to police harassment. Singaiah 'unfortunately fell down in front of the convoy and was run over', SP Kumar said. On the same day, another YSRCP supporter, 30-year-old P Jayvardhan Reddy, collapsed and died in a melee of Jagan supporters near Sattenapalli clock tower. He was declared brought dead at the Guntur Government Hospital. Jagan's visit to Palnadu had already become controversial due to a placard held up by a YSRCP supporter, which led to a police case and a political blame game. The placard, held up by YSRCP worker T Raviteja on Wednesday, said: 'When YSRCP comes to power in 2029', and below that, 'rapa rapa narukuta'. The Telugu words were part of a line delivered by Allu Arjun in Pushpa 2. It translates to 'cut them down, one by one'. Police in Palnadu said they registered a case against Raviteja. Andhra Pradesh Home Minister V Anitha accused Jagan of encouraging such 'violent' statements. Jagan defended the placard, saying it was not meant to be violent and asked, 'So, now you can't even quote a line from a movie?'
