#SHOWBIZ: Ziana, Anuar, Ernie and Syamel to hold family concert in October
KUALA LUMPUR: Four national icons, each with his or her own achievements—and coming from different generations—will join forces for the very first time in one special concert this October.
What makes this even more exciting is that all four are beloved entertainers of Malaysia, bound by blood and united through family ties.
Anuar Zain Network, in collaboration with Altus ProHouse, presents EMPAT Live In Kuala Lumpur 2025, the first-ever collaboration between siblings Ziana Zain and Anuar Zain, their niece Ernie Zakri, and her husband Syamel Fodzly on Oct 18.
Set to take place at Mega Star Arena, Sungei Wang Plaza, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur, EMPAT Live In Kuala Lumpur 2025 is more than just a concert—it is a symbol of love, affection, unity, and the celebration of Malaysia's greatest talents across generations.
In a statement yesterday, Anuar said: "This project is truly exciting because none of us ever imagined that fate would bring us—my sister Ziana, our niece Ernie, and her husband Syamel—together as entertainers in the same industry, sharing one stage for a concert.
"After careful planning, EMPAT Live In Kuala Lumpur 2025 has finally been made a reality.
"This concert has actually been in the works for two to three years.
"However, due to our busy schedules and each artiste's individual commitments, we had to wait for the right time."
Anuar added: "This concert isn't just about us—it's about how we appreciate the continuous support from fans of all generations for the work we've done, and will continue to do.
"We hope everyone will enjoy EMPAT with a strong sense of love and unity."
Ziana said: "I see EMPAT as a celebration brought to life after
numerous fan requests.
"I won't promise something extraordinary—but come and enjoy EMPAT for what it truly is.
"I want fans to leave with magical, unforgettable moments."
Ernie said: "As legendary entertainers, Ziana and Anuar made my nerves melt away. They were open and professional in welcoming Syamel and I into this big concert project.
"This has been a long-time dream of mine, and it's finally coming true."
Syamel said: "I believe the collaboration between the four of us, each bringing his or her energy, will result in a truly captivating performance concept."
The concert's director is Jennifer Thompson with Sze Wan as music director.
Thompson said: "We've been planning this concert for the past three years, and we're thrilled it's finally happening.
"All four of them are incredible singers and entertainers, but what makes this show magical is that each has a unique style.
"Working with such amazing talent and repertoire feels like being a kid in a candy store."

'Empat Live in KL 2025' concert brings Ziana family's dream to life
THE upcoming 'Empat Live in Kuala Lumpur 2025' concert will unite siblings Ziana Zain and Anuar Zain, along with their niece Ernie Zakri and nephew-in-law Syamel, on one stage for the very first time. Speaking about the concert, which will take place at Mega Star Arena in Bukit Bintang here on Oct 18, Anuar said it is a tribute to their family's artistic journey, while also establishing themselves as a brand in the local music industry. ''Empat' (four) isn't just a number. It's a collaboration among four artistes from the same family. We hope it will become a legacy and a historic moment for us. 'We also hope it will be something people talk about for a long time,' he said at a press conference recently. To further excite fans, the four will also be releasing a brand-new single in conjunction with the concert, centered around the theme of universal love and composed by Edry Abdul Halim. Anuar, who worked with Edry about 15 years ago on the hit song 'Sedetik Lebih', described him as a smart and experienced songwriter and composer. 'When we met Edry, he gave us two song options. But one of them really captured our hearts. Without saying much, the four of us immediately agreed once we heard it,' he said. Anuar added that Edry understood the vocal characteristics of all four singers and crafted an arrangement that suited them well, which made the recording process smooth from start to finish. Empat is the name - Malaysian music legends team up with family members to become music's new super quartet
The dice has been set and it heralds a new beginning for Malaysian music and also for the South-East Asia entertainment scene. Meet the new quartet set to break new grounds in the local and international entertainment scene. They are aptly called Empat and will feature legendary singers and siblings Ziana Zain and Anuar Zain, along with their niece, award-winning singer Ernie Zakrie, and her husband Syamel, a well-known singer-composer who was also a member of Akademi Fantasia 2015 franchise. And then comes the 'Empat Live in KL 2025', which will be held at the Mega Star Arena on Oct 18. It will also mark the first concert collaboration between the four family members, each of whom has made a significant and lasting impacts on the Malaysian music industry.
