CRDA to begin final phase of IRR in Guntur
Guntur: The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) is set to launch the third phase of Inner Ring Road (IRR) construction in Guntur city at an estimated cost of 50 crore. With the Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) clearing encroachments along the 4.5-km stretch, CRDA is now preparing to invite tenders for the road development.

The final phase of IRR, stalled for nearly 20 years, aims to ease traffic congestion by allowing heavy vehicles from Palnadu district to access National Highway-65 without entering the city. Initially conceptualized in 2005 by the Vijayawada-Guntur-Tenali-Mangalagiri Urban Development Authority (VGTM UDA) — CRDA's predecessor — the IRR was designed to connect Perecharla (western Guntur) with NH-65 (eastern Guntur near Autonagar) through an 11-km four-lane highway.
Due to land acquisition challenges, the project was executed in phases, with only 7 km completed over the past two decades. Despite multiple government transitions, the final phase remained incomplete.
Following the TDP-led NDA assuming power, Union minister Pemmasani Chandrasekhar took the initiative to push CRDA authorities to complete the IRR, addressing Guntur's growing traffic woes. Dr. Pemmasani also secured four Railway Over Bridge (ROB) projects, including one linked to the IRR, from the Union highways and road transport ministry. With the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) now preparing to begin ROB work, CRDA is keen to accelerate the final phase of IRR development.
"We have cleared encroachments and distributed TDR bonds to affected property owners. The road markings are complete, and now it's over to CRDA to proceed with development," said GMC commissioner Puli Srinivasulu.

Cybersecurity boost: Banks, RBI move to launch Digital Fraud Detection Platform amid soaring crimes - All you need to know
This is an AI-generated image, used for representational purposes only. In a concerted push to tackle the rising wave of digital payment frauds, major public and private sector banks are collaborating with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to develop a Digital Payment Intelligence Platform (DPIP), a new Digital Public Infrastructure aimed at enhancing fraud risk management As per the news agency PTI, the proposed platform will enable real-time intelligence sharing and data analysis to detect and prevent fraudulent digital transactions. According to sources, the RBI-led initiative is a top priority and is expected to go live in the coming months. The Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH) has been tasked with building a prototype of DPIP in consultation with 5–10 banks. 'Fraud is a common monster,' a source said, underlining why both public and private banks are being roped in to co-develop the platform. A high-level meeting was recently held to finalise its institutional structure, with participation from senior bank executives and RBI officials. The platform comes in response to a sharp spike in fraud cases. As per the RBI's latest annual report, bank frauds jumped nearly threefold to Rs 36,014 crore in FY25, compared to Rs 12,230 crore a year ago. Public sector banks reported Rs 25,667 crore worth of frauds—up from Rs 9,254 crore in FY24. While card and internet payment frauds dominated in the private sector, public sector banks faced large-scale fraud in their loan portfolios. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Aparat de sudură cu laser de 9000 W (4 în 1) – o revoluție în sudură! The telecom major also highlighted risks posed by OTT messaging platforms, calling them the weakest link in fraud prevention due to lack of regulatory oversight. Airtel Vice Chairman and MD Gopal Vittal, in a letter to NPCI MD & CEO Dilip Asbe, proposed 'closer collaboration to create a repository of known fraudulent financial domains,' and favoured joint public awareness campaigns and technical cooperation to counter online scams. 'The external threat landscape is evolving rapidly. Systems like are useful, but still reactive,' Vittal wrote to the RBI, stressing that fraud must be stopped at the first step—when a user attempts to access a malicious site. The telco's proposal received positive responses from banks and the NPCI, sources said. Airtel has also sought to join forces with Jio and Vodafone Idea to initiate a joint industry-level defence against telecom-based scams. In the first nine months of 2024 alone, India reported over 1.7 million cybercrime complaints, resulting in losses exceeding Rs 11,000 crore. These figures underscore the urgency of building a coordinated, tech-driven ecosystem like DPIP to shield consumers and financial systems from the growing digital threat. After Ratan Tata's TCS, this company gets land in Andhra Pradesh for less than a rupee; to invest Rs 15820000000 in..., company is...
Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu New Delhi: In a major move that promises to generate thousands of jobs, technology giant Cognizant is likely to set up a world-class IT/ITES campus in Andhra Pradesh's Visakhapatnam. The company will invest around Rs 1,582.98 crore. According to a Times of India report, the project is expected to generate over 8,000 jobs. To recall, a few months back, the Chandra Babu Naidu-led Andhra Pradesh government announced that it would allocate land at just 99 paisa to Cognizant IT Solutions for this project. A similar deal has also been made with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) where the government has decided to sell 21 acres of land for 99 paise each. The bold move indicates that the state is aiming to establish itself as a tech hub in India. Cognizant's Big Plan: Here are some of the key details: Cognizant has proposed a huge investment in Visakhapatnam The company has asked for 21.31 acres of land at Kapuluppada under the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA). With this move, Cognizant aligns its strategy to optimise real estate costs. In May 2023, Chief Executive Ravi Kumar S said the firm would relinquish 11 million square feet of office space globally, especially in India's largest cities, while investing in tier-2 cities. Cognizant is targeting 2025 annual revenue between $20.5 billion and $21.0 billion, compared to the previous outlook of the midpoint of $20.30 billion to $20.80 billion. Cognizant plans to begin commercial operations by March 2029 The entire project being 100 percent self-funded, indicating the MNC's long-term commitment to Andhra Pradesh. The announcement comes just months after India's tech leader, Tata Consultancy Services, disclosed plans for a 13.70 billion rupee campus in the same city, which is expected to generate about 12,000 jobs. Globally, IT companies, including those in India, are taking cost-cutting measures such as monetising real estate assets and slowing down salary increments amid demand uncertainty.

Big win for India as it becomes global hub in…, defeats China and Bangladesh, Pakistan in tension because… The global textile industry has been witnessing a major change recently. Major buyers are now turning away from China and Bangladesh and moving towards India. India is emerging as a new major hub in this sector with the country's textile exports have registered a significant increase. 11.3% Growth In Textile Industry In May As per the available data from the textile industry body Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI), the textile export of the country has increased by 11.3 percent in May 2025 as western buyers are now considering it as a reliable option ignoring China and Bangladesh. Impact Of Political Turmoil In Bangladesh It is to be noted that the ongoing political turmoil in Bangladesh, following the change of the Sheikh Hasina-led government in August last year, has impacted the country in several ways, including the textile industry. The situation has turned the buyers towards India. As per a report by The Economic Times, garment exports grew by 17.3 percent in September and 24.35 percent in October. US-China Tariff Policy and India US tariffs on Chinese goods inadvertently boosted India's competitiveness, enabling its exporters to significantly increase their market share in the United States. This surge in demand led to requests from international buyers for increased Indian production capacity and compliance with relevant certifications. Furthermore, these tariffs also facilitated preferential treatment for Indian sugar exports. India Compared To China Notably, the share of India in the US apparel market is around USD10 billion, while China's share is USD30 billion. Along with textile exports, raw cotton imports have also witnessed a rise. As per Cotton Association of India, the estimated imports in 2024-25 will be 3.3 million bales (170 kg per bale), compared to 1.52 million bales in 2024. India compared to Pakistan As per Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), Pak's apparel exports stood at USD2.92 billion during July-August 2024-25. While India's textiles and apparel exports increased to USD6.180 billion during the first two months of the financial year 2025-26. Why India? Political stability and US tariff benefits have played a crucial role in elevating India's position in the global textile market. The country is moving ahead by balancing export growth, raw material imports and global demand.
