Morocco Plans to Export 3,000 Vehicles to Egypt Per Year

Rabat — Morocco aims to export 3,000 vehicles yearly to the Egyptian market, according to Egypt-Morocco Business Council President Nizar Abu Ismail.
The initiative is part of a comprehensive plan to rebalance trade between the two countries, he said in an interview with Al Borsa News.
Speaking of the current trade situation between the two countries, Abu Ismail pointed out that Egyptian investments in the North African country now exceed $700 million.
Meanwhile, a potential major project led by an Egyptian businessman entails developing an integrated tourist city in one of Morocco's coastal regions, according to the council's president, adding that it could attract over $500 million in investments over the next three to four years.
'This tourism project is one of Egypt's largest in North Africa,' Abu Ismail explained, saying that it will contribute to the creation of significant job opportunities, as well as 'establish an attractive investment environment, opening new horizons for cooperation' between Morocco and Egypt.
Looking ahead, he estimated that nearly 30 Egyptian companies have shown interest in investing in Morocco through building new factories in the country within the next three years.
This expansion strategy aims to increase Egyptian investments across North Africa and leverage the advantages of the Moroccan market — particularly its geographic proximity to Europe and free trade agreements that enable easier access to Western and African markets.
Speaking of the sectors, Abu Ismail said that companies that have shown interest so far operate across various sectors, including agri-food, manufacturing, food supplements, automotive parts, the fishing industry, and fishing vessels.
These developments come following recent economic advancements between the two countries, bolstering bilateral trade ties through the creation of an Egyptian 'Fast Track' system designed to streamline access for Moroccan exports into the Egyptian market.
Morocco and Egypt held earlier this month a significant Egypt-Morocco Investment and Trade Forum in Cairo, bringing together officials, economic players, and business leaders from both countries.
The forum was held during a Moroccan economic delegation visit to Egypt, initiated by the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), aiming to boost Moroccan products' presence in the Egyptian market.

The partnership centers on locally manufacturing Wheeled Armoured Combat Vehicles (WhAP 8×8) and developing a regional hub for defense mobility equipment, exemplifying the growing South-South cooperation that both countries aim to advance in the defense sector. After Morocco, Modi will continue his tour with visits to Argentina, Brazil, Trinidad and Tobago, and Jordan. His stop in Brazil on July 6-7 will coincide with the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, where he may meet with several global leaders, including Chinese President Xi Jinping. Morocco Hits Record Rasberry Exports to Middle East

Morocco has set a new benchmark for its raspberry exports to the Middle East, reaching 700 tonnes just three months before the close of the 2024/2025 export season, according to agricultural data platform EastFruit. This surge, achieved during the first nine months of the current marketing campaign, marks a significant milestone for Moroccan agriculture. The boost is credited to the strong positioning of Moroccan raspberries during off-peak periods in rival markets, consistently high product quality, and a targeted trade strategy aimed at expanding in the Gulf region. Exports typically run from August through June, with major shipping peaks between October–November and February–May. October 2024 stood out as a record month, with more than 200 tonnes shipped, surpassing the combined totals of the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 seasons. Currently, Morocco exports raspberries to seven Middle Eastern countries. The UAE and Saudi Arabia dominate as the leading importers, accounting for roughly three-quarters of the total volume. Meanwhile, shipments to Kuwait have tripled over the past three seasons, and exports to Jordan have doubled. The UAE alone has seen a 67% jump in imports over that same period. The country's market share has expanded sharply across the region. Moroccan raspberries now represent 15% of imports in the UAE, up from 7%. In Kuwait, the share has jumped from 0.2% to 5%, in Qatar from 6% to 10%, in Bahrain from 6% to 22%, and in Jordan from 0.3% to 22%. ​​While the report details Morocco's impressive growth in Middle Eastern markets, it also notes the country's rise to become the world's second-largest exporter of fresh raspberries as of 2024, second only to Mexico. Morocco Telecom secures €370 million IFC loan to expand 4G in Chad and Mali

Morocco Telecom has secured a €370 million loan from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to fund the rollout of 4G services in Chad and Mali, the company announced Friday. The financing aims to improve access to high-speed internet, help bridge the digital divide, and support economic development, in line with the African Union's goal of creating a unified digital market by 2030. Morocco Telecom, in which Emirati group e& holds a 53% stake, serves around 79 million customers, more than 57 million of whom are in ten African countries. It is the second-largest company on the Casablanca Stock Exchange by market capitalization. «Morocco Telecom Group has been operating in sub-Saharan Africa for over 20 years.
