Trans activists push measure to issue ‘predator' warning to schools if Cuomo wins mayoral race

Yahoo27-04-2025

Lefty activists pushed a resolution this week to issue a predator warning to schools if Andrew Cuomo is elected mayor.
The bizarre political stunt happened Wednesday at the Community Education Council meeting for District 2. The motion called on the city to protect students and staff, specifically from Cuomo. It referenced his 2021 resignation following a report by state Attorney General Letitia James into allegations that he sexually harassed 11 women.
'Given the extremely serious nature of the allegations against Cuomo . . . CEC2 urges the City Council to institute protocols to safeguard students and school staff from a predatory mayor,' read the proposal, which failed in a 4-4 vote.
'I think this is one of the worst resolutions I've ever seen by District 2,' said Vice President Leonard Silverman, 'This one is just horrific.'
'If you have opposition to Andrew Cuomo becoming a mayor, I suggest you don't vote for him,' said the veep for District 2, which covers most of lower and Midtown Manhattan and part of the Upper East Side.
Cuomo has adamantly denied all sexual misconduct allegations, and district attorneys concluded that there were insufficient legal grounds to bring criminal charges against him.
Cuomo's campaign referred to a statement from Bishop Orlando Findlayter, pastor of New Hope Christian Fellowship in Brooklyn.
'This is why people are so distrustful of politics — especially the politics of the far left that appears to be fueled by underhanded, transparent tactics and division,' Findlayter said, adding that Cuomo is a man of 'integrity.'
'Those attempting to engage in vile gutter politics for their own personal gain should really reflect on their actions going forward,' he added.
Over 50 activists with the groups Trans Formative Schools and Aunties & Friends for Liberation flooded the meeting in support of the resolution and others including one opposing President Trump's executive order ending 'radical indoctrination' in schools.
'Diversity, equity and inclusion make our kids better people and there is evidence that it improves educational outcomes,' one mom claimed during public comment.
They awkwardly danced the 'Macarena' and 'YMCA' in opposition to supporters of Resolution 248, a now-moot measure calling on the city Department of Education to review its policy allowing students to play on sports teams according to their gender identity.
'I would like to protect the right of women who were born biologically as women to have a fair environment in which to compete,' argued one father.

NYC Democratic mayoral primary enters home stretch

NEW YORK (PIX11)– For the first time since he was detained by immigration officials earlier this week, Comptroller and candidate for mayor Brad Lander was back at immigration court to try and help immigrants from being deported. After observing more detentions by ICE, a clearly frustrated Lander said more needs to be done to quote gum up the works. 'It's time for people to stand up and say we are not going to allow the deportation machine without due process,' Lander said. 'We are going to have to, in the tradition of nonviolent protest, find more and better ways not to allow our democracy to be eroded.' More Local News Lander is also calling on former governor Andrew Cuomo to instruct his Super PAC to back down from repeated attack against Zohran Mamdani. Mamdani said he has been in touch with the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force after repeated Islamophobic threats called into his government office, including a recent car bomb threat. 'If you design mailers that artificially lengthen and darken my beard, if you blanket the airwaves with language of me being a radical, if you put me in [traditional Islamic clothing] instead of a suit, it is not a surprise to see the threats that come,' Mamdani said. Mamdani was outside the NYC Campaign Finance Board, where he was petitioning for a last-minute rule change that would allow him to spend more donor money, due to the constant barrage of Cuomo Super PAC ads. He said Cuomo is trying to 'buy the election.' A spokeswoman for the Cuomo campaign says the former governor cannot legally direct a Super PAC to do anything. She said Momani is simply trying to change the subject from a discussion of antisemitism: 'Mr. Mamdani has a super PAC and a fringe party financially supporting his candidacy and smearing Governor Cuomo, and has been, potentially illegally, coordinating with other candidates to attack Governor Cuomo. This latest attempt to change the subject from Mr. Mamdani's inability to clearly and unequivocally condemn the use of the repugnant phrase 'globalize the intifada' are as transparent as they are desperate.' Meanwhile, the former governor was endorsed by the Daily News on Friday, and influential South Carolina Congressman Jim Clyburn was also endorsed. Finally, late Friday, City Council Speaker and candidate for Mayor Adrienne Adams said she would not cross-endorse, as Mamdani and Lander have done. She said she is still committed to defeating Cuomo and encouraged her supporters to rank the Working Families Party slate, which includes Lander and Mamdani. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Andrew Cuomo, Jim McGreevey and Anthony Weiner are all running for office again. Is 2025 the year of the political comeback?

Are voters forgiving, and are they willing to elect people who may have left office under a cloud? This year, Andrew Cuomo, Jim McGreevey and Anthony Weiner are all trying to make a comeback. Cuomo resigned as governor of New York following allegations of sexual harassment. McGreevey left the New Jersey governor's mansion following public acknowledgement of homosexuality and an extramarital affair. Weiner resigned from Congress in a sexting scandal. All three are back running for office this year, so-called "boomerang candidates," coming back for a second bite at the political apple. Cuomo is running in the New York City mayoral primary, Weiner is running for City Council, and McGreevey is seeking to become mayor of Jersey City. "Voters can vote based on whatever they want" They are running based on their experience, telling voters they have it what it takes in these difficult political times. "I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm running for the City Council. Arguably, the most qualified person ever to run for this office," Weiner said. "If people want to talk about my history, or they want to talk about something they know about my private life, that's fine. Voters can vote based on whatever they want." "I don't even think necessarily they have to forget, but the have to forgive. They have to say, alright, you, for whatever reason, made a bad decision, ABC, but overall, we think you're competent, we think you're experienced, we think you're committed to the well being of the city, and we're going to trust you," McGreevey said. "I think New Yorkers are forgiving people" Political experts think they each have a shot, especially because voters all across the nation sent President Trump back to the White House despite his conviction in the Stormy Daniels case. "I think New Yorkers are forgiving people, and they're willing to give someone a second chance," law professor and political analyst J.C. Polanco said. Polanco says the members of the boomerang group is coming back because public service and the spotlight are hard to give up. "I mean, it's just addictive, and there's no way you get it out of your system. And remember, in politics, timing and your name identification matters," Polanco said. "To some degree, candidates don't get to choose what voters care about. And if someone knows something about me that they don't like, and they say, I'll never vote for Weiner, so be it. But a lot more people are saying to me, You know what? We need someone with guts and someone with experience. This is kind of that moment," Weiner said. Cuomo and Weiner will find out Tuesday if voters are in a forgiving mood. McGreevey has no primary, so he'll have to wait until November.

Andrew Cuomo aide and Eric Adams trade social media blows as NYC mayoral campaign heats up: ‘Which private club was this sent from?'

New York City's general election for mayor is still more than four months away — but the mudslinging has already started. Incumbent Mayor Eric Adams, a Democrat running on an independent line in the November contest, sparred with a longtime Andrew Cuomo aide on social media — after she called out Hizzoner's penchant for clubbing. '12:01am tweeting – which private club was this sent from? Or were you busy smoking cigars with more antisemites at the time of the tweet?' Cuomo lieutenant Melissa DeRosa zinged at Adams Thursday. Advertisement 4 Incumbent Mayor Eric Adams and longtime Andrew Cuomo aide Melissa DeRosa clashed on social media after the Cuomo lieutenant called out Adams for constantly going clubbing. Pacific Press/LightRocket via Getty Images DeRosa — a fierce backer of Cuomo's comeback bid for mayor who worked as his right-hand in the governor's office — had amplified a New York Times story reporting that Adams' Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Kaz Daughtry was working with ICE on immigration raids. 'Thank god this city has Jessica Tisch @NYPDPC at the helm, or one can only imagine what @ericadamsfornyc and his admin would be doing to bend to Trump's will,' she wrote. Advertisement The mayor shot back with his own choice words shortly after midnight. 'Agreed. Jessica Tisch — second woman NYPD commissioner — is leading the department because I appointed her. And she's delivering results. Andrew Cuomo? He's running for office because he got run out of office?' he posted. DeRosa then slammed Adams' love of nightlife, while also bringing up his recent controversial interview with antisemitic podcaster Sneako over cigars at Gracie Mansion. 4 DeRosa took to X to call out Adams, sending a tweet at 12:01 am speculating that he was at a club or smoking cigars. Eric Adams/X Advertisement Adams hit back, posting: 'I was en route to the Crane Club,' a luxury Chelsea steakhouse that also boasts a members-only club within the restaurant. 'Crime is down, nightlife is back, and the $30 billion industry is helping to rebuild the economy @andrewcuomo tanked with his failed policies like bail reform,' the mayor posted from his campaign account. 'Eric Adams: Delivers. Never quits.' 4 Adams fired back and responded that he was on his way to the Crane club while also taking a shot at mayoral hopeful and Democratic nominee for mayor, Andrew Cuomo. Getty Images Advertisement To political observers, the social media spat was sign that November's election is heating up and likely only to get nastier along the way. Political consultant Chris Sosa said that DeRosa's posts were indicative of Cuomo's political style but that there was little the campaign could gain from it. 'This is the Andrew Cuomo way – insult, antagonize and bully, even when there's nothing to be gained. It's not new to anyone who's had to deal with Andrew in Albany,' he said. Every morning, the NY POSTcast offers a deep dive into the headlines with the Post's signature mix of politics, business, pop culture, true crime and everything in between. Subscribe here! 'But favorably citing the NYPD commissioner to score a point against the mayor who appointed her is head scratcher.' Bill Cunningham, a former Communications Director for Mayor Bloomberg and staffer, agreed that Cuomo's camp came off looking worse in the tiff, and predicted that the general election 'could be very vicious.' 'This episode shows Adams as pretty handy in the clinches. Cuomo people should take heed that when they spot an opening they don't fall into it,' he said. 4 Adams is seen as a long shot to win the mayoral election, while running as an independent, with Cuomo still the front runner to win the Democratic nomination for mayor of New York City. Getty Images Advertisement 'No one voting now or on Tuesday gave a rat's hindquarters about where and when Adams was tweeting. All Melissa did was give him a free shot,' Cunningham added, referring to the June 24 Democratic mayoral primary, in which Cuomo is the frontrunner to get the party's nomination. Cuomo rep Rich Azzopardi fired back even harder in response to an inquiry from The Post. 'He's a desperate man who sold out the city to President Trump for his own personal benefit. We wish the MAGA mayor well with whatever administration appointment he gets come January,' Azzopardi snipped about Adams. Advertisement Adams campaign spokesperson Todd Shapiro said that mayor was more focused on delivering results for New Yorkers than 'social media theatrics.' 'Mayor Adams is focused on good government, not political mudslinging,' he said in a statement. 'We're not going to be distracted by the noise. This campaign is about leadership, not likes' The mayor has previously defended his late nights at members-only clubs like Zero Bond, saying, 'I hang out with the boys at night and I get up with the men in the morning.'
