Is Texas a college baseball "Blue Blood?" Of course the Longhorns are a baseball "Blue Blood." Texas has the most (by far) College World Series appearances and UT is third on the list in national titles. But the topic has come up thanks to the matchup in the CWS championship series. LSU, a definite college baseball "Blue Blood," against a complete upstart in Coastal Carolina.
The conversation really started back in early June when a video edit about North Carolina popped up that called the Tar Heels a "Blue Blood," even though UNC has never won a CWS title.
But the topic has really accelerated thanks to the matchup in the CWS final series. Now the conversation is viral on social media.

Longhorns Wire actually wrote about this three years ago. Our list was Texas, USC, LSU, Arizona State, Miami, Cal State Fullerton and Arizona. Basically, every team with four or more national titles. Historically, they all fit and stats-wise they all fit.
Our definition of a "Blue Blood" is a program with sustained success over a long period of time. Vanderbilt, Oregon State, and Arkansas have had a lot of success recently, but "long" means "long." Oklahoma State and Florida State have a lot of College World Series appearances, but few trophies.
Much of the raging debate aligns with our list, including X/Twitter AI Grok. Others will add either FSU or Oklahoma State.
No matter how you slice it, two of the bluest "Blue Bloods" are in the SEC - Texas and LSU. The two programs haven't met a lot before this year, though there have definitely been some historical battles in Omaha.
Now that the Tigers and Longhorns are both in the SEC, the two programs will be bitter rivals for years to come. This season's series definitely helped light the fire.

Report: Rockets have ‘firm offer' to trade for Kevin Durant, but Suns are underwhelmed
The Rockets continue to have a 'firm offer' to trade for Suns star Kevin Durant, but Phoenix continues to be underwhelmed with Houston's current valuation of the All-Star forward, per Kelly Iko of The Athletic. There has yet to be a clear indication of what that offer specifically entails, though Rockets Wire explored the financial possibilities last week. According to The Athletic's Iko, Sam Amick, and Jon Krawczynski, the Suns are also relatively uninspired by their options involving the San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat — the other two teams on Durant's list of preferred destinations. Advertisement Reports have indicated that the Timberwolves could perhaps bid closer to the Suns' liking, with established players such as Rudy Gobert and Donte DiVincenzo a part of the package. But, to no surprise, The Athletic's report indicates that Minnesota 'does not want to make a seismic change to a roster that advanced to the Western Conference finals, if Durant is not on board with the move.' With Durant having only one season left on his current contract, surrendering significant value in a trade for a player who is unwilling to extend and could leave for no compensation in 2026 free agency would be very risky. So, in effect, it's a standoff. The Suns are waiting out Durant, in hopes that he eventually expands his list of desired teams. Durant and the Rockets (and perhaps the Spurs and Heat, as well) are waiting out the Suns, in hopes that Phoenix eventually accepts a lower offer. Time will tell as to which side wins out, but the first round of the 2025 NBA draft is next Wednesday, June 25 — and the Suns would undoubtedly prefer to have a deal finalized by that time so that they can make a selection, themselves, for any draft asset they might obtain. Advertisement Furthermore, with Durant turning 37 years old in September, there wouldn't seem to be much value upside to waiting — unless Phoenix is potentially open to rejecting all trade offers (if deemed unsatisfactory) and bringing Durant back into its fold for the 2025-26 season. To this point, there have been no indications of that being a viable scenario. So, for the time being, it seems both Durant and the Suns are waiting out the other. ESPN's Brian Windhorst: Rockets with Kevin Durant would be ‘serious contender' in West
The Houston Rockets and Miami Heat appear to be the only two teams who are both on Kevin Durant's list of desired destinations and actively engaged with the Phoenix Suns to get such a deal done. And between those two, longtime NBA insider Brian Windhorst thinks it's Houston that could be the most compelling fit. While the terms of a potential deal remain unknown, financial analysis from Rockets Wire suggests a package headlined by Jalen Green or a combination of Dillon Brooks and either Jabari Smith Jr. or Reed Sheppard as the most likely starting point for a trade. Advertisement Draft equity and further matching salaries would likely be a component, as well. Phoenix is reportedly underwhelmed by the current offer, though negotiations are ongoing. So, why are the Suns underwhelmed? In a Friday appearance on ESPN's Get Up, Windhorst said the sticking point is two future draft assets that Houston owns from the Suns and is unwilling to give up for Durant, who turns 37 years old in September. Among Windhorst's comments (hat tip Chris Gorman, X): I think Houston is the team that can make the best trade and is also the best spot for Durant. There's a connection there with Ime Udoka. Ime was an assistant coach for Brooklyn when KD was there. If Durant ends up in Houston, I think you've got a serious contender in the Western Conference. However, Houston is really not motivated to dip into the stash of picks that they have. Specifically, they have two future Phoenix Suns draft picks (in 2027 and 2029). That's what the Suns want back. They literally want some of the stuff back that they traded for Durant, which the Rockets went out and acquired from Brooklyn with the possibility of making a Durant trade. But they don't want to pay that price right now. They're basically wagering that the Suns' price will come down. Time will soon tell as to whether the Rockets are correct in that wager, with a deal reportedly possible at any time. To Windhorst's point, the Rockets finished 52-30 and No. 2 in the West last season, and that was with an elite defense and a mediocre offense. By adding Durant, who remains an All-Star forward with elite scoring, it would significantly improve Houston's biggest weakness. Advertisement But given the advanced age, Rockets general manager Rafael Stone isn't willing to pay an extremely high price, considering that Durant's NBA prime is likely dwindling. Perhaps that leads to the Suns eventually reducing their asking price.
