WA Police disciplines officer filmed pushing man to ground in Broome
Western Australia Police has disciplined an officer who pushed a man to the ground in Broome earlier this year but will not release details of what action has been taken.
The WA Police Internal Affairs Division began investigating the matter in February when a video emerged on social media.
It showed part of an altercation between a Broome police officer and a man filmed at Male Oval in Broome's town centre.
The oval is a hub for people sleeping rough in the Kimberley town, 2,000 kilometres north of Perth, and is regularly patrolled by police.
In the video, which starts with the pair standing next to a police van, the officer pushes the man to the ground before getting into his police car and driving away.
At the time, Kimberley Police Superintendent John Hutchison said the video was "disappointing" given the work of his officers to build community relationships.
WA Police said the officer was placed on administrative duties while the Internal Affairs Division investigated.
That investigation concluded in March, with an "internal disciplinary process" taking place since then, which was finalised today.
"The Western Australia Police Force expects the highest standards of behaviour by our officers," a police spokesperson said.
"Any breaches of our code of conduct are treated seriously and thoroughly investigated, with real-time oversight by the Corruption and Crime Commission.
"The officer involved in this incident has been stood aside from operational duties since the incident occurred.
"Disciplinary proceedings have now concluded and suitable disciplinary action has been taken in relation to this matter.
"The officer will soon return to full duty but remains subject to that disciplinary action."
In response to further questions from ABC, police did not outline details of the disciplinary action or what considerations were made.

A man has been arrested after allegedly stabbing two women and threatening another man with a knife in NSW's north. Police were called to John St in Uralla in the Northern Tablelands about 9.40am Sunday after reports a woman had been stabbed in the face by a man with a knife, before fleeing in a Holden sedan. The 33-year-old woman was treated for facial injuries by paramedics before she was transported to Armidale Hospital in a stable condition. A short time later, police were called to a house on Rowan Ave in Uralla after reports a man had threatened another man with a knife. Police were told the armed man threatened a 23-year-old man with a knife before leaving in the Holden sedan after he was unable to enter the home. About 11am, police were called to a home in Noalimba Ave in Kentucky after reports a woman had been stabbed. Upon arrival, police found a 22-year-old woman with lacerations to her hand and mouth after she was allegedly assaulted by the same man outside the house. She was treated by paramedics and transported to Armidale Hospital for further treatment. With the assistance of Polair, police launched a desperate search to find the man. Shortly after 12.30pm, police found the man hiding in a children's cubby house on East St in Uralla. 'During the arrest police also located and seized a knife from the cubby house and a Holden sedan parked nearby,' a police statement read. The man was taken to Armidale Police Station. No charges have been laid. Multiple crime scenes have been established as police launch an investigation into the incidents.

Broncos star Ezra Mam has opened up about the car crash that left a woman and child injured as well as what was said between him and Spencer Leniu, ending a feud that stemmed from the Las Vegas racism saga. Mam pleaded guilty to one count of driving while relevant drug is present in the blood and driving without a licence. But while the Magistrate was relatively lenient, the NRL was less so. The 22-year-old was slapped with a combined $120,000 in fines from the NRL and the Broncos and was handed a nine-game ban. Speaking about the ordeal, Mam says the whole experience has given him a different outlook on life, acknowledging in hindsight that he was previously very selfish. Police launch search and rescue in Childers for missing man Glenn Courtis
A search and rescue operation has been launched in regional Queensland for a missing man, after a car was found abandoned in Childers. Police said the car, a dark-coloured 2016 Citroen C4, was found on Chews Road in Childers, about 325 kilometres north of Brisbane, after lunchtime on Friday. It was not reported to officers until yesterday afternoon. Police said the owner of the car, Howard man Glenn Courtis, 61, has not been found. Emergency services, including SES personnel, began searching bushland near Chews Road and surrounding areas this morning. Investigators have appealed to Mr Courtis, or to anyone with further information, to contact police.
