Health Minister Inspects Arafat Field Hospital Ahead of Hajj Rituals
Minister of Health Fahad AlJalajel conducted an inspection visit to the Arafat Field Hospital, where he was welcomed by several senior officials.
During the visit, the Minister toured the hospital's departments and reviewed the range of medical services being offered to pilgrims for the 1446 Hajj season. He was also briefed on the network of healthcare centers affiliated with the hospital, including their emergency and specialized services aimed at ensuring the health, safety, and comfort of pilgrims.
The Arafat Field Hospital is among the key healthcare projects supporting this year's Hajj. It features a capacity of 100 beds, including 20 designated for heat exhaustion treatment. The facility is fully equipped with an operating room, an isolation unit, a mobile medical unit with five field clinics, a laboratory, a pharmacy, and mobile radiology services.
This comprehensive setup highlights the Ministry's advanced level of preparedness to deliver timely and effective medical care directly to pilgrims during the Hajj.

A new flavor for Saudi restaurant meals starting July 1
Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — In less than 10 days, the restaurant experience in Saudi Arabia will be completely different from what the diners have been used to for decades. Starting July 1, the new rules regulating restaurant meals are scheduled to take effect, in accordance with the Saudi Food Regulation Policy. The most notable changes will include a list of the menu's ingredients, including calories, details of its nutritional components, and a warning about any ingredients that could cause an allergic reaction in some diners. The new regulation will be implemented by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), which emphasizes the need to provide healthy and safe food options for families and diners of restaurants, especially given the large number of people who require meals that do not cause allergies. Starting July 1, restaurants will be required to change their menus to include a clear list of calories, fat and sugar content, sodium (salt) levels, and clear information about allergens. SFDA noted that food outlets will be mandated to display detailed nutritional information on their menus from this date. This includes placing a 'saltshaker' label next to meals high in sodium as a clear guide, disclosing the caffeine content of beverages, and indicating the estimated time required to burn off the calories from a meal. These requirements apply to all menus, whether physical or online, and extend to online food ordering platforms. A large segment of Saudi consumers have welcomed these new regulations, especially given the growing concern in the Kingdom about rising rates of diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. Displaying this information will enable diners to adequately protect their health. Restaurant and café owners have welcomed the new food regulations, to the point that some have even taken the initiative to choose food alternatives that are healthier for their customers. Through these initiatives, the SFDA aims to promote healthier food options, encourage a balanced lifestyle, and help consumers track their salt and caffeine intake in relation to approved health recommendations. The Saudi government is providing all possible assistance to owners of restaurants and cafés to navigate this phase and adapt to Saudi food regulations. The new regulations reflect the Kingdom's Vision 2030 goal of improving the quality of life for citizens.

Saudi Arabia Welcomes 116 mln Visitors in 2024
Saudi Arabia welcomed nearly 116 million domestic and inbound tourists in 2024, marking a significant milestone in the Kingdom's tourism sector, according to the Saudi Press Agency. The ministry also released its 2024 Annual Statistical Report on Saudi Arabia's tourism sector to highlight key indicators of tourism activity and review the sector's growth during the year. Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khateeb stated that the report focuses on the efforts of the ministry and all stakeholders in Saudi Arabia's tourism ecosystem. According to the report, total tourism spending for domestic and inbound travel recorded approximately SAR284 billion, marking an 11% year-over-year growth. Furthermore, the Kingdom reached its highest-ever number of inbound tourists, with almost 30 million visitors in 2024, marking an 8% rise compared to 2023. Meanwhile, inbound tourism spending in 2024 surged to SAR168.5 billion, up 19% from the previous year. The Ministry of Tourism noted that this remarkable success was mainly driven by the efforts and support of the Saudi leadership in line with the Saudi Vision 2030. As for domestic tourism, the ministry reported noticeable growth with 86.2 million domestic tourists in 2024, representing a 5% increase compared to 2023. The domestic tourism spending also reached SAR115.3 billion in 2024. SDAIA Facilitates Departure of Iranian Pilgrims via Jadidat Arar Tech
The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) has deployed advanced technologies and smart systems—coordinating with relevant authorities—to facilitate the departure of Iranian pilgrims through the Jadidat Arar border crossing toward Iran.
