Aamir Khan reveals he discouraged son Junaid Khan from learning acting; reviews Loveyapa and its failure
When an actor's child begins their journey in the film industry, they are often subjected to trolling. Those who can act manage to make a place for themselves in the land of cinema whereas others continue to be called 'products of nepotism'. But the case was quite different for Aamir Khan's son Junaid Khan, who began his acting career in 2024. With his debut film Maharaj, Junaid initially impressed one and all, leaving many lauding his acting chops and impactful performance. However, later the star kid was brutally trolled when his second film Loveyapa, opposite Sridevi's younger daughter Khushi Kapoor, arrived in theatres. Well, Aamir has now reviewed Junaid's work, Loveyapa and the trolling it faced.

In a chat with Raj Shamani on his podcast, Aamir Khan explained, 'When Loveyapa released, I really liked the film and thought Junaid had done a good job. The role he played was quite different from his real personality. Junaid has this quality — he transforms into the character. I think uss film ko bohot negative backlash aaya. It was heavily trolled, nepotism mein bohot chali gayi ki yeh nepo kids hai (I think the film received a lot of negative backlash. It was heavily trolled and got dragged into the nepotism debate, labelled as a 'nepo kid' film). But Junaid and I are not like that. Until now, I've not interfered in his career, nor do I want to. In fact, I discouraged him from formally learning acting.'

Aamir went on to share that he was earlier affected by the success and failure of his films, but lately he has been more concerned about Junaid's career. Aamir stated, 'I want him to succeed, to be happy, and to get the recognition he deserves for the work he's doing. As a father, that's a very strong emotion.' After Maharaj and Loveyapa, Junaid is now busy gearing up for his third film. Titled Ek Din, the upcoming project backed by Aamir also stars Sai Pallavi. We wish Junaid all the best!

Maharaj Director Backs Deepika Padukone's 8-Hour Workday Request: "Rani, Kajol Did It Long Before It Became A Debate"
New Delhi: As conversations around work-life balance and regulated shooting hours continue to grow in the film industry, filmmaker Siddharth P. Malhotra has shared his thoughts on the ongoing debate around 8-hour work shifts. What Recalling his own experiences, Siddharth pointed out that actors like Rani Mukerji and Kajol have long followed structured 8-hour workdays. He cited the example of Hichki, a film that was completed in just 28 days. The director said discipline and coordination on set are key, regardless of the number of working hours. "Every film has its own requirement. We shot Hichki with Rani and the kids in 28 days with 8-hour shifts. Everyone, from actors to spot boys-was aligned. Kajol used to do 8-hour shifts even back in 2010. Rani does it too. So what Deepika is saying isn't new. If a director needs a certain actor and they can only give 6 hours a day-so be it. It's about aligning expectations. It's not about ego; it's about efficiency," Siddharth told IANS. Background The 8-hour work shift discussion gained attention after reports surfaced about Deepika Padukone being "dropped" from the film Spirit. The actress was initially cast opposite Prabhas but reportedly was dropped from the project due to disagreements over various demands. These included a profit-sharing model, a fixed 8-hour workday, and other terms that did not align with the vision of director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Following her exit, Triptii Dimri was brought in as the new lead. Siddharth also addressed the issue of pay disparity in the industry. The Maharaj director said that while the conversation around equal pay has been going on for years, there has been some progress. He noted that actors like Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt are now among the highest-paid stars in the business. "The truth is, pay depends on your star power. The first few days of a film rely on the actor's draw. After that, it's the director's job to sustain interest. It's not just about gender- it's about economics. If an actor brings in a strong opening, they deserve that pay. It's business logic," he added. In A Nutshell Filmmaker Siddharth P. Malhotra has addressed the 8-hour shift debate, saying actors like Rani Mukerji and Kajol have followed such schedules for years. He added that efficiency and alignment matter more than ego. He also noted that actor pay is based on star power and box office draw, not just gender.
