But amidst the grinding play, Gill's cheeky dig at Pant stole the show.
After the wicketkeeper-batter elegantly left a delivery outside off, Gill was caught on the stump mic saying with a grin: "Kya hi baat hai teri bhai, isse tagdi leave nahi kar sakta tu. (What a leave, brother! You couldn't have left that ball any better.)"

The remark had fans in splits, another moment of chemistry between India's new leadership duo.
Pant, who later completed his seventh Test hundred in trademark style with a one-handed six off Shoaib Bashir, showed his own game awareness.

During an earlier passage of play, he was heard cautioning Gill after the captain stepped out to drive a rising delivery.
"Niche hi reh nikal raha hai toh. Ye aa jaata, uth gaya. (Keep it down when stepping out. This one rose a bit, could've gone wrong.)"
That balance between camaraderie and caution reflected the maturity and synergy in the Gill-Pant partnership, which swelled past 200 runs for the fourth wicket — a defining moment in the opening Test of the Anderson–Tendulkar Trophy.

IND vs ENG, 1st Test Day 2 Highlights: Pant's flair, Bumrah's fire, but Pope stands tall to keep England afloat
Jasprit Bumrah and teammates celebrate the wicket of England's Ben Duckett. (Pic credit: BCCI) Rishabh Pant brought Headingley to its feet with a spectacular hundred and Jasprit Bumrah once again delivered a masterclass in hostile fast bowling, but England weathered the storm through a tenacious Ollie Pope to end Day Two on 209 for 3 in reply to India's imposing 471. Score: India vs England 1st Test Day 2 Trailing by 262 runs, the hosts found much-needed stability through Pope's unbeaten century and stand with Ben Duckett, before a late strike by Bumrah brought some relief to the visitors. Despite Bumrah's searing spells - which included the wicket of Joe Root and a near dismissal of Harry Brook off a no-ball - England showed grit and gumption, led by Pope's calculated aggression and control. Pant flips, soars, and silences critics India began the day at 359 for 3, and the morning belonged to Rishabh Pant. Mixing audacity with calculated shot-making, he reached his seventh Test century with a breathtaking one-handed six off Shoaib Bashir. The celebration - a trademark somersault - underlined the intent. His innings of 134 came after a 209-run partnership with captain Shubman Gill, who notched a career-best 147. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Concentrated Siberian Ginseng Extract 2oz Superior Ginseng Undo Pant's brilliance felt like vindication. Six months after being labelled 'stupid, stupid, stupid' by Sunil Gavaskar for his shot selection, the legendary batter was heard exclaiming 'superb, superb, superb' on air as Pant reached his century. Nick Knight EXCLUSIVE: On Shubman Gill and absence of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma in England Bumrah's brilliance: Too hot to handle Jasprit Bumrah began with a magic ball to dismiss Zak Crawley in the very first over and returned later to remove Duckett and Root with deliveries that reeked of quality and menace. Duckett's dismissal - inside-edge onto stumps - halted a 122-run stand, while Root's poke to slip marked Bumrah's 10th dismissal of the England star in Tests. He nearly had Brook too, caught by Siraj at fine leg, only for it to be called a no-ball - Bumrah's third of the over. But his figures of 3/48 didn't quite reflect how threatening he was all day. Pope's poise steals the session Coming in amid chaos, Ollie Pope showed composure and clarity. He was dropped early by Yashasvi Jaiswal and survived an LBW appeal by Siraj, but once settled, his footwork and bottom-hand flicks cut through the Indian attack. Pope, on 100* at stumps, constructed a crucial 122-run stand with Duckett and later added 80 with Root. His celebration, a jump and punch in the air, echoed England's relief as Headingley rose in applause. Collapse dents India despite big total India, once cruising, lost seven wickets for 41 runs after the dismissal of Gill and Pant. The collapse - as batting coach Sitanshu Kotak admitted - came too soon. 'It was a collapse. We expected better,' he said, though he lauded Gill's growth post-BGT and defended Pant's unique method: 'Just because he plays aggressive doesn't mean he can't defend.' 5 Rockstar games that got canceled before release
Image Via SynthPotato's X Rockstar Games boasts a legacy of developing some of the most groundbreaking and immersive games of all time. But not all of its in-house projects did make it to store shelves. Rockstar quietly canceled some of its more ambitious games over the years, some almost finished. Here are five Rockstar games that were canceled prior to release, including a zombie survival game and a canceled GTA 5 expansion. 1. Bully 2 Development of Bully 2 was supposedly started immediately after the success of the first. A playable prototype with around 8 hours of content was developed, and the world was estimated to be close to three times as large as Bully. Years of development later, Rockstar quietly dropped the project. It is still one of the most-wanted sequels of all time among fans. — SynthPotato (@SynthPotato) 2. Project Z Well before zombies became a gaming phenomenon, Rockstar had an internal project titled Project Z. Based on a Scottish island shrouded in fog, the title included fuel scavenging and constant zombie fending. The idea was innovative for its time but never made it beyond the early development phases. 3. Agent Originally unveiled in 2009 as a PlayStation 3 exclusive, Agent was being developed as a Cold War-era stealth-action game. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trade Bitcoin & Ethereum – No Wallet Needed! In spite of public teasers and constant rumors, Rockstar never showed any gameplay, and the game was cancelled quietly years later. 4. GTA 5 Expansions Rockstar initially conceived of having five single-player expansions for GTA 5, such as a zombie-themed "Norman Episode," an alien invasion sci-fi, and a Liberty City crossover game titled LibertyV. The most advanced among them, the Trevor-based "Clifford Episode," later became GTA Online's Doomsday Heist. The others were canceled as priorities went entirely to online games. 5. The Warriors 2: We Are the Mods A spiritual follow-up to The Warriors had been in development in early stages as We Are the Mods . Based on 1960s England, it dealt with street battles between Mods and Rockers. Originally scheduled for PS2 before being shifted to Xbox 360, the game was ultimately canceled before it could take complete form. Hidden behind Rockstar's high-gloss blockbuster franchises are a number of intriguing games that never reached the public. Whether in the form of a zombie survival idea or overdue sequels, these axed projects are part of Rockstar's forgotten development history, and fuel interest in fans to this day.
