03 Jun 2025 | 04:21:03 PM IST
RCB vs PBKS Live Score, IPL Final: The wait is almost over to find out who will crowned IPL champions for the 2025 chapter. Will it be 'ee saala cup namde' for Bengaluru or 'sarpanch sahab' scripting history for Punjab? A new champion is guaranteed. After 17 seasons of heartbreak, near-misses, and "what ifs," either Royal Challengers Bengaluru or Punjab Kings will finally lay their hands on the coveted IPL trophy when they face off in the 2025 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad tonight. Both franchises carry years of emotional baggage. RCB have made it to the final thrice before — in 2009, 2011, and 2016 — only to fall short each time. Punjab Kings (formerly Kings XI Punjab) made their lone final appearance in 2014, losing to Kolkata Knight Riders. The scars have lingered, but so has the hunger.
RCB vs PBKS: Road to the final RCB were the first to secure a place in the final. After finishing second in the league stage with 19 points from 14 matches, they defeated Punjab Kings comprehensively in Qualifier 1, chasing down the target with eight wickets in hand.Punjab, who had topped the table thanks to a superior net run rate (also 19 points), had to take the longer route. After stumbling in Qualifier 1, they bounced back with a gritty win over Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 — a match that saw their skipper Shreyas Iyer play one of the innings of the tournament: an unbeaten 87 off 41 balls.
PBKS vs RCB IPL final: Key Performers RCB's success this season has revolved around two pillars: Virat Kohli and Josh Hazlewood. Tushar Raheja to Shivam Singh: Star TNNPL batters KKR should target for IPL 2026
In this collection of pictures, we will explore the list of star TNPL batters KKR could consider signing for IPL 2026. 2024 IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders had a difficult 2025 season following the loss of a key opener Phil Salt to RCB. Their weaknesses were best demonstrated in powerplay, where their openers averaged a miserable 26.5 per man individually and a meager 22.3 together the third-lowest opening partnership average of the league. KKR's skipper, Ajinkya Rahane was the only batter who amassed runs with intent and turned out to be the highest run-scorer for his side. He scored a total of 390 runs at an average of 3.45 with a strike rate of 147.73. His highest score was 61. There is no doubt that KKR are going to seek reinforcement at the top-order, exploring the Indian talent pool, and in this case, there is where these three super hitters in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) can come handy. In case you have been able to see a glimpse of the TNPL, then you must have heard of Tushar Raheja. The classy left-handed opener will be the perfect addition in the line-up of KKR style which is to attack in the powerplay. He is the top run-scorer in TNPL 2025 so far, with 298 races at a mind boggling average of 99.33 and a strike rate of 204.10. His six-hitting skills are never in doubt, though, and with 21 sixes and 29 fours in the contest, he has more boundaries as a hitter than any other TNPL 2025 batter. No batter has scored more runs in TNPL since 2023 than Shivam Singh. The ex-PBKS all rounder has been in a rampage in the tournament having scored 931 runs with an amazing average of 51.72. Imagine Ajinkya Rahane took a bold decision by playing as an opener for KKR, the team will require someone solid at No.3 and that is where Nidhish Rajagopal comes handy. The left hander deals well with pace and spin, which is highly necessary in a KKR team with a fire balling middle order. He has an adequate record against spinners, scoring 263 runs with 16 sixes since the 2023 TNPL, which is a good sign of dealing with spinners. The Salem-born hitter is only 25 so he brings youth to an already ageing KKR top order, providing the ideal calm yet effective balance in the batting arsenal.

Jasprit Bumrah and the power of belief
Jasprit Bumrah has been told 'no' throughout his career. Want to make it big with a quirky action? Not likely. Want to play all three formats? You're just a white-ball bowler. Want to be a bowling superstar in a country obsessed with batters? Fat chance. Want to come back from injury, again and again and again, and still be as good a bowler as you were? Not going to happen. Every step of the way, Bumrah has proved naysayers comprehensively wrong. In the last Test India played, Bumrah's back finally gave way. He had been carrying the load of his country's hopes for so long that something had to give. When he walked off the field in Sydney, no one knew how long he would be away, and how his bowling would hold up when he returned. But when India next played a Test, Bumrah turned up with 5 for 83. Those figures are deceptive because they could have been so much more. Bumrah was bowling with all the venom, guile and skill of old, but his team could not seem to hold their catches off him. Eventually, he just did it himself, castling England's last batters. It is thanks to Bumrah that India still have parity against England after three days' play in the first Test at Headingley. Without Bumrah, India were looking at conceding a potentially big lead. Which is a disquieting sentence for India because one of the fallouts of Bumrah's breakdown in Sydney is that he has to be a lot more careful about managing his body, and he will not be available for all five Tests in England. India have to learn to survive without Bumrah. Bumrah, the bowler, is irreplaceable. But when he's absent, maybe the rest of the team can channel some of Bumrah's belief. 'I played for India on my belief. I have played every format on my belief,' Bumrah said after play on Sunday (June 22). 'Because people have only told me 'no'. First, they said you won't be able to play, then they said you will last only six months, then only eight months. And just like that, I have spent 10 years in international cricket and 12-13 years playing IPL. People still say the same thing, 'He will go now'. Well, they can keep waiting. I'm not going to think about that at all. I'll just do my work. Every three-four months, news will come that I'm done now. (Shrugs) Let's see. Till it is written in my destiny, I will play. I do my best preparation and leave the rest up to god.' But even if you cannot replicate Bumrah's skills, the Indian team faltered in their ability to at least support their most valuable player to the best extent possible. There is a heavier price to be paid for dropped catches by India than just the runs scored by the reprieved batter. The pitch at Headingley has not been of any great help to bowlers. Bumrah created several chances despite that. Every dropped catch meant that much longer of a bowling stint. On a helpful pitch, the next wicket might not be too far away. On a batting pitch, the effect of each dropped chance is exponential. Bumrah had four catches dropped off his bowling. India could have had a lead of 150 runs instead of the six they got, and Bumrah's workload could have been much shorter. This is what happened at the MCG in 2024-25. A lot of drops, a sharp increase in the overs, Bumrah was asked to bowl, and a breakdown in the next Test at SCG. Bumrah himself was philosophical about the drops. 'You can't really sit down and cry, isn't it? You have to move forward in the game… Nobody is dropping catches purposely. I don't want to create a scene or put more pressure on the fielder - that I'm angry, I'm kicking the box… It's okay, it's part and parcel of the game.' But while Bumrah can move on, Team India must make it a priority to address the rash of drops. It will cost them in the game, but it could have longer-term effects on their most prized asset. If India does go on to win the first Test, they will again have to depend on Bumrah's genius. He himself doesn't think in those terms, though. 'If I start to play on everybody else's expectations, that 'This is my name and this is my ranking and this is how I'm supposed to bowl' - then I'm carrying a lot of baggage, and that's very difficult to carry,' Bumrah smiled. 'I ask myself this question at night. Did I give it my absolute best? If the answer is yes, I quietly go back to sleep.' Based on that, Bumrah will at least get a good night's rest every single day.
