Indican Pictures Lands North America Rights To 'In The Fire Of War'
EXCLUSIVE: U.S. distributor Indican Pictures has acquired rights to In the Fire of War (Ka Whawhai Tonu) from UK sales outfit Locomotive Entertainment. Indican will begin distributing the film theatrically on July 13. Released under its original title, the pic topped the New Zealand box office. Set in New Zealand in 1864, it follows the story of a conflict during New Zealand's first land warfare, fought between Maori and colonial soldiers. Tim Worrall (Head High) is the writer, Mike Jonathan the director and Temuera Morrison (Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom), Jason Flemyng (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Mirama Smith (Love and Monsters) and Cliff Curtis (Sunshine) star. 'We are really excited to bring such an important moment in history to audiences in North America during such a time of upheaval around the world,' said Randolph Kret from Indican Pictures. 'The acting is flawless, the story riveting and everything was executed with precision. See it on the big screen if possible to completely experience the film.' Locomotive, which is currently in Cannes with pics such as gangster comedy Café 404 and Richard Strauss' Deadline, has also secured deals for In the Fire of War with unnamed buyers in the likes of Poland and Germany.

Jung Hae-in & Ha-young Set For Netflix Series 'Lovestruck'
Jung Hae-in and Ha-young will star in Netflix romantic drama series Lovestruck, which has gone into production in Korea. Jung will play a former youth boxing champion turned gang member, who is seeking redemption as a small-town boxing coach. Ha-young plays an ambitious prosecutor who wakes up one day with amnesia and meets a suspicious man who insists he is her boyfriend. Jung's character, her real first love, unexpectedly crosses her path and to protect her spins a lie that could cost their lives. Kim Jang-han is the director and Mo Ji-hye the writer. Watch it now on Disney Plus For an offbeat romantic drama with a heavy helping of sci-fi, look no further than Kristen Stewart and Steven Yeun's "Love Me." Set in a future where humanity has gone extinct, it follows an unexpected duo: a weather buoy (voiced by Stewart) that becomes self-aware after a brief encounter with a passing satellite (Yeun). Yearning for a sense of self, the buoy calls itself 'Me' and dubs the satellite 'Iam.' Me persuades Iam to study the remnants of the internet with her to better understand what it means to be human. Though Iam doesn't realize it, Me begins to construct new identities for them both based on social media posts from a once-living couple. The second and final season of Arcane is poised to shake up the 2025 Emmys. There are 38 submissions this year in the Best Animated Program category, which means there will again be five nominees. Three years later, it's back for Season 2, and there's no reason to think Television Academy members won't be just as enamored this time around. It won Best Short Form Animated Program for each of its first three seasons in 2019, 2021, and 2022, but is now competing against the big dogs up in the main Best Animated Program race. (There is no short form animation category this year, possibly due to a dearth of eligible submissions.) Season 4 of the anthology series streamed all 10 episodes on May 15, right at the tail end of the eligibility period. The third episode, "Spider Rose," has been submitted, and focuses on a grieving woman hellbent on revenge at the end of the galaxy. In fourth place is Bob's Burgers, a 13-time nominee in this category and two-time winner (2014 and 2017). Season 15 was split into two parts, with the first part airing at the end of 2024 and the second part airing now and through the summer. The eighth episode, "They Slug Horses, Don't They?," is being put forward for Emmy consideration, in which Tina and Louise get into an argument that escalates across several increasingly graphic "apology" cards. Invincible comes in fifth place for a nomination. Emmy voters will be judging the sixth episode of Season 3, "All I Can Say Is I'm Sorry," where a powerful new figure challenges Markus "Mark" Grayson/Invincible (voiced by Steven Yeun), and helps him to explore the concept of right vs. wrong. The superhero series streams on Prime Video, and received its first Emmy nomination last year for Sterling K. Brown for voicing Angstrom Levy.
