5-star Oregon football target Tyler Atkinson schedules visit to Texas Longhorns
When looking at the Oregon Ducks recruiting board in the 2026 cycle, there are few players who are likely higher priorities than 5-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson.
Standing at 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, Atkinson is rated as the No. 9 player in the nation, and the No. 1 linebacker in the 2026 class, per the 247Sports Composite. He has been in Eugene a couple of times this year for visits, including an official visit earlier this month. A select group of Oregon coaches has also gone in-home to visit with Atkinson, and the Ducks reportedly feel good about where they stand for the elite defender.
They're going to have a lot of competition to land him, though, particularly down in SEC country.
Last week, Atkinson — a Georgia native — took yet another visit to Athens to see the Georgia Bulldogs, and this week, he announced that he is heading to see another SEC school: the Texas Longhorns.
Much like former 5-star LB Justin Williams, a high-profile member of the 2024 class, it feels as if Atkinson is being made a major priority for Lanning and his staff. Williams committed to Georgia a couple of years ago, but has had very little playing time so far with the Bulldogs.
We will see if Lanning and the Ducks are able to land Atkinson and bring him across the nation to the Pacific Northwest. If so, it would be undoubtedly one of the crowning achievements of Lanning's recruiting career thus far.

Oregon Ducks target Khary Adams announces college commitment
The Oregon Ducks have been recruiting 4-star cornerback Khary Adams strongly over the past few months, but on Friday afternoon, they got some unwanted news. Adams, the No. 36 player and No. 3 cornerback in the 2026 class, per 247Sports, announced his commitment to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. It appeared that this was the likely outcome over the past week, especially when Adams cancelled an official visit that he had planned to Eugene for this weekend. Adams stands at 6-foot-2, 175 pounds, and is from Towson, Maryland. It makes sense for him to stick closer to home at Notre Dame, but he would have been a significant win for Oregon had they been able to land him. This may not be the only win that Notre Dame gets over the Ducks on Friday in the recruiting world, either. 5-star safety Joey O'Brien is scheduled to announce his commitment later this afternoon, and the expectation is that the Oregon target is also going to end up committing to the Fighting Irish as well. While these are two unfortunate losses for the Ducks on the recruiting trail, they did get to celebrate a big win on Thursday, with 5-star safety Jett Washington joining Oregon's 2026 class. Washington is rated as the No. 18 player in the nation, and he becomes the No. 1-ranked safety to ever commit to the Ducks. Why Dakorien Moore is the biggest X-factor for Oregon Football in 2025
As the years go on, having true freshmen contribute immediately has become even more important than before. When the Oregon Ducks secured the services of five-star receiver Dakorien Moore, it was assumed he would have some sort of impact on Oregon's 2025 season. But with the news of Evan Stewart injuring his knee and putting his season in question, Moore adjusting quickly and being an even bigger focal point of the Ducks' passing game just got that more important. Fortunately for Oregon, Moore has the talent to be WR1 right away and have a similar impact that Jeremiah Smith had for Ohio State last season. According to CBS Sports, Moore's importance is so high that the Ducks' championship hopes might ride on it. "There will be a lot of pressure on Dakorien Moore to produce as a true freshman. Oregon's ability to contend for another Big Ten title largely hinges on him flourishing right out of the gate," writer Carter Bahns said. "The Ducks were always going to rely on the No. 1 wide receiver recruit, but his role only got bigger when top returning target Evan Stewart sustained what is feared to be a potential season-ending injury. That is on top of the necessity to make life easy on a new starting quarterback in Dante Moore." It's a lot of pressure to put on a true freshman, and it certainly is an unusual spot for a first-year player in Eugene. While the recruiting level has ratcheted up under Dan Lanning, veteran presence has played a huge part in their recent success. Dakorien Moore might have more eyes on him than any other true freshman has before at Oregon. Georgia Tech Lands Two Promising WRs in 2026 Class Surge
Georgia Tech Lands Two Promising WRs in 2026 Class Surge originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Ramblin' Wreck just added some serious firepower to its receiving corps, and the buzz around Georgia Tech football recruiting is only getting louder. Advertisement In a 24-hour stretch that shows Brent Key's staff is executing with precision, the Yellow Jackets secured commitments from two 2026 wide receivers: Kentrell Davis out of Birmingham, Alabama, and Isaac Obrokta from Rabun Gap, Georgia. With both prospects pledging their futures to the Flats, Georgia Tech now holds 14 total commitments in the 2026 class, and four of them are wideouts. This is more than just a numbers game. It's a statement. Kentrell Davis: Speed and Swagger from the Heart of Alabama Hailing from Parker High School, Kentrell Davis brings both SEC-caliber attention and raw athleticism to Tech's recruiting board. The 6-foot, 175-pound wideout is ranked No. 975 nationally and No. 36 in Alabama by the 247Sports Composite. He recently wrapped up official visits to Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt but ultimately chose the Yellow Jackets over offers from Kentucky, Mississippi State, Wake Forest, and Missouri. Advertisement Davis is known for his breakaway speed and crisp route-running. He's a weapon in open space, a modern slot receiver with big-play potential, and he fits Georgia Tech's evolving offensive identity. With a senior season ahead and a spotlight growing brighter, Davis could be a major riser in the rankings. Isaac Obrokta: Underrated Georgia Talent with SEC Attention Just one day prior, Georgia Tech added another key piece in Isaac Obrokta, a 6-foot, 176-pound wide receiver from Rabun-Gap-Nacoochee School. Though ranked No. 1,477 nationally and No. 145 in Georgia, Obrokta's recruitment speaks louder than his star rating. Advertisement With offers from Florida State, UCF, Liberty, and Ole Miss, he's flown under the radar but not unnoticed. His game is built on consistency, with strong hands, crisp releases, and high football IQ. Coaches view him as a steady contributor who could thrive in the slot or as a possession receiver. Obrokta visited Tech on May 30 and later toured Florida State, but made his commitment soon after, signaling trust in the Jackets' vision. The Bigger Picture: Building a Receiving Corps with Depth and Versatility With Davis and Obrokta joining previously committed wideouts Darnell Collins and Jeremy Winston, Georgia Tech is putting an emphasis on versatility, speed, and depth at the position. After years of offensive inconsistency, Brent Key is clearly prioritizing long-term stability and dynamic playmakers for the future. Georgia Tech head coach Brent Key celebrates after their win against Florida State at Aviva Maher-Tom Maher/INPHO via USA TODAY Sports The Yellow Jackets' 2026 class now ranks in the top 40 nationally, and the staff's recruiting momentum, especially in the Southeast is drawing attention across the ACC. Advertisement Georgia Tech fans, take note: These are the kind of moves that can quietly shape a future contender. Watch these names, and this class closely.
