Odell Beckham has 3-word response after being told to return to New York Giants

USA Today7 hours ago

Could wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. return to the New York Giants?
That question has been asked every single year since Beckham was traded to the Cleveland Browns in 2019. Over that span, Beckham has expressed both anger and frustration with the Giants, while also looking back on his tenure fondly.
Time has a way of changing perception, and seven years after that trade, Beckham recently revealed the heartbreak he felt at the time.
"I never, ever wanted to leave the New York Giants," Beckham Jr. said. "The reason you heard me talking about what was going on was because I was pissed because, where I come from in college, if we lost one game, our season was over.
"This was the organization I got drafted to. They believed in me. So if the Giants went and won a Super Bowl, I would be happy. But deep down inside, I wanted to be the one. No question. So it's definitely you'll always hold that. But then someone like me, I went to the LA Rams, won a Super Bowl. But still, you just want that."
And now we circle back around.
The Giants have been actively searching for wide receivers to add to their roster, most recently visiting with veteran Gabe Davis. Might general manager Joe Schoen consider the 32-year-old Beckham?
That seems unlikely, but Beckham doesn't appear to be closing the door.
During a panel appearance at Fanatics Fest NYC on Saturday, a fan yelled out, encouraging Beckham to return to the Giants. The 2014 Offensive Rookie of the Year offered a smile and a three-word response.
"I got you," Beckham said.
The decision is obviously not Beckham's to make, but stranger things have happened. As former Giants general manager Jerry Reese would remind, "Never say never."
During his time with the Giants, Beckham was arguably the most electrifying offensive player the franchise had ever seen. He dazzled with feats of athleticism rarely seen, highlighted by unbelievable one-handed catches and elite route running. He was lightning in a bottle, capable of taking it to the house any time he touched the ball.
Beckham is no longer that level of superstar, hindered by various injuries, but that's not to say he doesn't have something to offer a team or locker room. And it would be somewhat fitting to see him end his NFL career back where it began.

Kevin Durant traded from the Suns to the Rockets in a blockbuster deal

The Houston Rockets are acquiring 15-time All-Star and four-time Olympic gold medalist Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns in a blockbuster deal struck Sunday, a person with knowledge of the agreement told The Associated Press. The Rockets are giving up Dillon Brooks, Jalen Green and six future picks — including the No. 10 selection in Wednesday's opening round of this year's draft — according to the person who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the deal was still pending NBA approval. It ends weeks of speculation about where Durant would end up. Many teams were involved at various times, including Miami and Minnesota, but in the end Phoenix took the Rockets' offer. ESPN first reported the trade. Fans learned of the news while Durant was on stage in New York at Fanatics Fest NYC, and when they began reacting, Durant started smiling broadly. 'We're gonna see, man,' Durant said from the stage. 'We're gonna see.' Boardroom, the ever-growing media company that Durant and his business partner, Rich Kleiman, co-founded in 2019 teams up with Fanatics on a number of projects. The panel that Durant was set to appear on there Sunday was called 'Global Game Changers.' He certainly figures to change the game for Houston. Houston finished No. 2 in the Western Conference in the regular season, albeit 16 games behind No. 1 Oklahoma City. It now adds a two-time champion to its young core as it looks to make another jump next season. Durant averaged 26.6 points this season, his 17th in the NBA — not counting one year missed because of injury. For his career, the 6-foot-11 forward is averaging 27.2 points and seven rebounds per game. The move brings Durant back to the state of Texas, where he played his one year of college basketball for the Longhorns and was the college player of the year before going as the No. 2 pick in the 2007 draft by Seattle. Houston will become his fifth franchise, joining the SuperSonics (who then became the Oklahoma City Thunder), Golden State, Brooklyn and Phoenix. Durant won his two titles with the Warriors in 2017 and 2018, and last summer in Paris he became the highest-scoring player in U.S. Olympic basketball history and the first men's player to be part of four gold-medal teams. Reynolds writes for the Associated Press.

MLB rumors: Yankees, Giants monitoring Pirates for trade

The post MLB rumors: Yankees, Giants monitoring Pirates for trade appeared first on ClutchPoints. The New York Yankees and the San Francisco Giants both appear to be rolling toward the playoffs with plenty of baseball left to play this season, but there is always room for improvement and that is no different with these two. As the trade deadline continues to get closer and closer, both teams could be looking for upgrades at certain spots. Advertisement On the other end of the spectrum, teams who are falling out of the race will be looking to get future assets back for some of their veteran players. The Pittsburgh Pirates are one of those squads, and infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa is one of the names that could be on the way out. The Yankees and Giants are two teams that could be in the market for Kiner-Falefa, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. 'The New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants are keeping a close eye on versatile Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa, who should be available at the trade deadline,' Nightengale wrote. Kiner-Falefa is hitting .280 this season, so he could be a solid piece who gets on base at the bottom of either of these lineups. He still isn't producing very many runs, but he can still be a good addition for cheap. He is also a solid player in the field that would add depth to the middle infield of both squads. Advertisement Of course, if the Yankees do end up adding the 30-year old, it would be a reunion after he played in pinstripes in 2022 and 2023. The Yankees are just coming out the other side of a brutal offensive slump after blowing out the Orioles 9-0 on Saturday night while the Giants are in the middle of a very tight series with the Boston Red Sox. As it stands, the Giants are just 3.5 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West, so it makes sense why they would be trying to improve and get back on level terms with the defending champs. On the other side, the Yankees are in the lead in the AL East but are fending off a spirited push from the Tamps Bay Rays and the Toronto Blue Jays. While it may not be the flashiest thing to do on paper, adding a player like Kiner-Falefa could be the difference between a division title and a wild card spot in these tight races. Waiting for his next NFL team to call, free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. seems open to that team being the New York Giants. As Beckham was one of many pro athletes to flock to Fanatics Fest this weekend, the veteran wide receiver was ordered by an audience member to join the Giants. An amused Beckham gave the fan what he wanted. "I got you," said the 32-year-old wideout. A fan tells Odell he should sign with the Giants at Fanatics Fest. 'I got you,' Odell Beckham Jr. 👀 (via @AryePulliNFL) — SleeperGiants (@SleeperGiants) June 21, 2025 Life in the NFL hasn't treated Beckham too well lately. Although his 2021 run with the Los Angeles Rams allowed him to earn his first Super Bowl ring, it came at a tough cost. After scoring in the Super Bowl, Beckham left the game during the first half with a knee injury. The team feared he tore his ACL. Beckham's worst fear was confirmed. Since Beckham's eight-game run with the Rams, he took a season off for recovery and joined the Baltimore Ravens for the 2023 NFL season. In 14 games with the Ravens, Beckham caught 35 passes for 565 yards. He ended up scoring three touchdowns during the regular season. Odell Beckham #13 of the New York Giants runs in for a touchdown during their game against Los Angeles Chargers at MetLife Stadium on October 8, 2017 in East Rutherford, New two playoff games with the Ravens, Beckham caught just four passes for 34 yards. He failed to find the end zone in both games. Last year, Beckham looked forward to another fresh start as he joined the Miami Dolphins for the year. He started the season off on the PUP list, dealing with an injury. By October, Beckham finally made his Dolphins debut. He appeared in just nine games. After catching nine passes for 55 yards, Beckham and the Dolphins agreed to part ways. The veteran wide receiver was waived in mid-December. He hasn't been picked up since. Beckham is a long way from the player he was when he joined the Giants as their 12th overall pick in 2014 out of LSU. At the time, Beckham burst onto the scene with a 1,305-yard campaign as a rookie, scoring 12 touchdowns. He dominated secondaries throughout his first three seasons, averaging over 1,300 yards per season and totaling 35 touchdowns. During the 2017 season, Beckham played in just four games as he dealt with an ankle injury. Although he managed to cross the 1,000-yard threshold for the fourth time as a member of the Giants in 2018, New York traded Beckham to the Cleveland Browns during the 2019 offseason. Since leaving, Beckham eventually made it clear that he was still quite fond of his time with the NY Giants. It doesn't come as a surprise that he didn't shoot down the idea of going back to them recently. For more New York Giants and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.
