Russia accuses Ukraine of postponing exchange of dead soldiers
Russian officials said Sunday that Moscow is still awaiting official confirmation from Ukraine that a planned exchange of 6,000 bodies of soldiers killed in action will take place, reiterating allegations that Kyiv had postponed the swap. On the front line in the war, Russia said that it had pushed into Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region. Russian state media quoted Lt. Gen. Alexander Zorin, a representative of the Russian negotiating group, as saying that Russia delivered the first batch of 1,212 bodies of Ukrainian soldiers to the exchange site at the border and is waiting for confirmation from Ukraine, but that there were 'signals' that the process of transferring the bodies would be postponed until next week. Citing Zorin on her Telegram channel, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova asked whether it was Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's 'personal decision not to take the bodies of the Ukrainians' or whether 'someone from NATO prohibited it.' Russia and Ukraine each accused the other on Saturday of endangering plans to swap 6,000 bodies of soldiers killed in action, which was agreed upon during direct talks in Istanbul on Monday that otherwise made no progress toward ending the war. Vladimir Medinsky, an aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin, led the Russian delegation. Medinsky said that Kyiv called a last-minute halt to an imminent swap. In a Telegram post on Saturday, he said that refrigerated trucks carrying more than 1,200 bodies of Ukrainian troops from Russia had already reached the agreed exchange site at the border when the news came. In response, Ukraine said that Russia was playing 'dirty games' and manipulating facts. These strikes came after Russian attacks targeted the regional capital, also called Kharkiv, on Saturday. Russia fired a total of 49 exploding drones and decoys and three missiles overnight, Ukraine's air force said Sunday. Forty drones were shot down or electronically jammed. Russia's defense ministry said that its forces shot down 61 Ukrainian drones overnight, including near the capital. Five people were wounded Sunday in a Ukrainian drone attack on a parking lot in Russia's Belgorod region, according to regional Gov. Vyacheslav Gladkov. Two people were wounded when a Ukrainian drone attack sparked a fire at a chemical plant in the Tula region, local authorities said. Russian authorities said early Sunday that Vnukovo and Domodedovo airports, two international airports serving Moscow, temporarily suspended flights because of a Ukrainian drone attack. Later in the day, Domodedovo halted flights temporarily for a second time, along with Zhukovsky airport.

Russian Defense Ministry said on Sunday that Russian forces reached Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region and continued their advance there. It also said that Russian troops captured the village of Zoria in Ukraine's Donetsk region.

Russia shoots down 10 Ukrainian drones targeting Moscow
Russian forces have shot down 10 Ukrainian drones heading towards Moscow, according to the city's mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, as Ukraine reported at least one person killed in Russian attacks on the war-torn country. There were no reports of any damage in Moscow on Sunday, but a Ukrainian drone attack led to a short-lived fire at the Azot chemical plant in the neighbouring Tula region, injuring two people, and seven drones were destroyed above the Kaluga region, regional governors said. Rosaviatsia, Russia's civil aviation authority, said on Telegram that, to ensure air safety, it halted flights at Moscow's Vnukovo and Domodedovo, as well as nearby Kaluga (Grabtsevo) airports. They were later reopened. The drone attack comes as Kyiv launched an unprecedented drone operation last weekend deep inside Russia, targeting nuclear-capable military aircraft at Russian airbases. Moscow promised to retaliate, unleashing a barrage of attacks in recent days. In the early hours of Sunday, Russian attacks pummelled multiple locations across Ukraine. At least one person was killed in the industrial region of Dnipropetrovsk that was hit by drones, artillery and rocket launchers. 'The invaders struck … Synelnykivsky district with a guided aerial bomb. A man was killed. Our sincere condolences to his family,' Dnipropetrovsk Council chief Mykola Lukashuk said. 'Five private houses and a kindergarten were also damaged,' he added. In Nikopol district of Dnipropetrovsk, a business, four homes and power lines were damaged, he said. Also on Sunday, Russian forces hit villages in the regions of Zaporizhia and Kherson, injuring two civilians, local officials said. Russia has accelerated its advance in recent weeks as the latest negotiations in the Turkish city of Istanbul failed to broker an end to the three-year war. The warring sides accuse each other of delaying a large-scale prisoner exchange – the only concrete outcome of the talks in Istanbul. The prisoner swap, originally due to take place this weekend, would see more than 1,000 people released from each side. But Moscow accused Kyiv on Saturday of not agreeing to a date to swap the captured soldiers, while Ukraine said Russia was playing 'dirty games' by not sticking to the agreed parameters for the swap.

Three people injured in Russian attacks in Ukraine's south, southeast, officials say
Russian drone attacks injured three people in Ukraine's south and southeast overnight, Ukrainian officials said on Tuesday. Two people were injured in the Dnipropetrovsk region, Governor Serhiy Lysak said on Tuesday. 'Air defense forces were working during the night in the Dnipropetrovsk,' he said on the Telegram messaging app, adding that five drones had been shot down over the region. The attack sparked a fire in a private house and an outbuilding in one district of the region and destroyed an agricultural enterprise, a private house, and a car in another. Nikopol district also came under FPV, artillery and drone attack, Lysak said. A 59-year-old man was injured in a morning drone attack on the southern city of Kherson, the military administration said. In the northeastern city of Sumy, a drone strike sparked a fire in a building of an industrial enterprise. A later air strike damaged at least seven private and one two-storey buildings and cars in another area, the military administration said. There were no casualties, it added. Russia, which began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, did not immediately comment on the reports.
