Imagine Dragons' Dan Reynolds Is In The Videogame Business; First Release Packs New Original Music
Dan Reynolds performs in June 2024 Imagine Dragons front man Dan Reynolds has been using his imagination for a new venture. The artist behind hits including 'Believer' and 'Radioactive' is the co-founder of a videogame company whose first release packs a turbo-charged version of childhood favorite game capture the flag, and original music by Reynolds. Night Street Games, the indie studio co-founded by Reynolds and his brother Mac Reynolds, who manages Imagine Dragons, will enter the market in 2026 with Last Flag on Windows PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Console platforms in the works. Last Flag is set in a 'funk-blasted '70s-inspired universe,' where players are transformed into contestants on the world's most-watched game show—hosted by the mysterious media mogul Victor Fex. 'When the cameras start rolling, players leap into an outdoor arena to hide their team's flag, then scramble to reveal the enemy's location by controlling radar towers and scouring the map's multitude of hidden nooks and crannies,' according to the game description. Each game lasts 20 minutes or less, and players can compete in two teams of five—there are 10 possible characters to choose from—in a classic game of capture the flag with lots of futuristic modifications. Among them, characters don't just get eliminated when they're caught, they get vacuum-tubed off to the green room where they can rejoin the fun. In keeping with the '70s vibe, the game will be powered by an original soundtrack featuring fuzzy guitars and analog synths crafted with real vintage gear by Dan Reynolds, Grammy-nominated producer/writer JT Daly (Benson Boone, Bully), and Night Street Games' soundsmith Dave Lowmiller (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Battlefield, Dead Space). 'When I was in third grade, my 'What do you want to be when you grow up' answer was 'run a video game studio.' Oddly specific, but I guess I really meant it,' said Mac Reynolds in a statement. 'Dan and I grew up playing capture the flag in the woods at night with flashlights, friends, and lots of adrenaline. Last Flag is our attempt to honor the purity and magic of that hide and seek experience—brought to life by the incredible team of developers we're lucky enough to stand beside.' Gamers can sign up at for a change to become a contestant in the alpha playtest launching later this year.

Nissan's made a brilliant 8-bit videogame set in Tokyo you can play right now for FREE
Nissan's made a brilliant 8-bit videogame set in Tokyo you can play right now for FREE Nismo's bringing the Nineties back in the shape of this OutRun style retro racer Skip 3 photos in the image carousel and continue reading Turn on Javascript to see all the available pictures. 1 / 3 Nissan has revealed a new videogame called 'Nismo Electric Racer Tokyo'. It is a videogame where you race an electric racecar in Tokyo and on first impressions it is… brilliant. Because it is brilliantly retro, transferring OutRun's glorious 8-bit aesthetic to one of the greatest cities in the world. Advertisement - Page continues below And because it is so brilliantly retro, you won't mind that it's wrapped up in the shape of Formula E. The game's been built to mark the upcoming Tokyo round of the all-electric racing series that Nissan's been campaigning in for years. Hence why you're not piloting an old R33 or R34 or 300ZX or Pulsar GTI or 200SX or literally any cool Nissan from the 90s or indeed any cool Nissan from history. No. You're piloting a Nissan Formula E car, as either of the team's current drivers (Oli Rowland and Norman Nato). Still, despite the fact you're not driving a cool old Nissan but a silent racing one, illustrator Kentaro Yoshida has turned out a bit of a pixelly masterclass here, rendering a Tokyo cityscape with the obligatory cherry blossom trees and Mount Fuji looming in the background. Just need a Yuzo Koshiro soundtrack and, yup, we're kids again. Best thing is, it's free! You can play it right now! And your Formula E racer won't run out of battery either! Head this way to have a play and post your experiences below. Advertisement - Page continues below Top Gear Newsletter Thank you for subscribing to our newsletter. This just in: the second new trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI has landed
This just in: the second new trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI has landed More details on the delayed, hugely anticipated videogame Skip 20 photos in the image carousel and continue reading Turn on Javascript to see all the available pictures. 1 / 20 Grand Theft Auto VI has been delayed. We are not sure if this new trailer – only the second since the game was announced back in 2023 – is a consolation, but it's all we have and this is GTA, so yeah, we'll take it. Rockstar's given us a little bit more info and scenery to chew on this time out, explaining how 'Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them'. Those are our protagonists – a sort of Bonnie and Clyde setup. Advertisement - Page continues below And now we know a little bit more about how they were set up. 'When an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida – forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.' The die-hard, frame-by-frame enthusiasts might dig out some more details, but once the scene has been set with a day in the life of Jason, all manner of narratives and classic GTA beats are teased: picking up Lucia, heists, shootouts, explosions, helicopters, jet skis, bikes, trucks and of course, cars. One of which is an extremely convincing Ford Ranger pick-up that shows off GTA 6's mighty impressive graphics engine and how well it can do the smaller details, as well as gorgeous Floridian cityscapes and neon-drenched nightclub scenes. And in amongst clips of the two dancing, sinking beers and committing felonies are vignettes of Vice City life, and we can now officially confirm it's a city that parties hard. Advertisement - Page continues below GTA 6 is now scheduled for release on 26 May 2026. The stated platforms in this latest trailer are PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, so it appears there won't be a PC version at launch. That follows Rockstar's historical pattern to the GTA series, wherein the PC release follows some months (or in the worst cases, years) afterwards. So, clear your afternoon, turn up The Pointer Sisters and take the freeway straight into downtown VC right here. Top Gear Newsletter Thank you for subscribing to our newsletter.
