Trooper suffers minor injuries after getting shot in Saline County; MSHP investigating officer-involved shooting
Ryan Shiner COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ) The Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop A announced in a Tuesday evening social media post that the MSHP Division of Drug and Crime Control is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Saline County. The trooper was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries and has since been released. According to a MSHP press release, just after 6:15 p.m., troopers were notified that the Concordia Police Department was pursuing a motorcycle driven by a suspect wanted for an out-of-state homicide. Officers lost sight of the suspect, but just before 8 p.m., Highway Patrol troopers in the area saw the suspect on 115th Rd. heading toward Belmont Ave. The suspect crashed the motorcycle into a trooper's patrol car near the intersection of 115th Rd. and Belmont Ave., running away on foot. The trooper ran after the suspect, who was armed with a handgun. The suspect shot at the trooper, hitting the trooper's bullet-resistant vest. The trooper returned fire, shooting the suspect. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. The names of the troopers and the suspect involved were not immediately available. Massachusetts State Police trooper seriously hurt in hit-and-run crash on Mass Pike in Chicopee
A Massachusetts State Police trooper was seriously hurt in a hit-and-run crash on the Mass Pike early Tuesday morning. Police said the trooper was "working a motor vehicle stop" on the westbound side of I-90, near exit 51 in Chicopee, around 2:20 a.m. That's when investigators said a driver hit the trooper and drove away. "State Police personnel assigned to Troop B and Fire Officials responded immediately to the scene, closed all westbound lanes, and facilitated transport for the injured Trooper via EMS to Baystate Medical Center, which is a level 1 trauma center," State Police spokesman Tim McGuirk said in a statement. The trooper has not been identified. Police have not released any information yet about the driver or the vehicle that they're looking for. McGuirk said anyone with information regarding the crash should call State Police immediately at 413-505-5993. Chicopee is about 90 miles west of Boston and about 85 miles east of Albany, New York.

Video shows Missouri driver crashing into Michigan State Police cruiser on I-94
A Michigan State Police trooper walked away uninjured after his cruiser was struck during a traffic stop in Berrien County. The crash happened about 11:10 p.m. Saturday on Interstate 94 westbound, near mile marker 25 in Lincoln Township, according to the state police report. The trooper was standing outside his cruiser, handling a traffic stop detail, at the time. The driver who struck the patrol vehicle was a 33-year-old man from Missouri. He was westbound and veered off the road. A preliminary investigation showed he was operating the motor vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance. He was arrested and taken to the Berrien County Jail. A second Michigan State Police officer who was en route to the scene witnessed the impact. A Michigan State Police cruiser was struck by another motorist during a traffic stop June 7, 2025, on Interstate 94 in Berrien County. Michigan State Police "This incident could have been a devastating tragedy for everyone involved, including the trooper," state police said. "As a reminder, driving under the influence of any intoxicating substance is illegal and deadly. If you plan to indulge, do so responsibly. Don't put the rest us in danger. Stay safe, be kind, and count your blessings." This was the second crash in a week involving a state police patrol vehicle in the MSP Fifth District that was struck while on a traffic assist. The other incident happened May 30, also on I-94, near mile marker 87.

Trooper injured after fleeing driver crashes into his patrol car and runs away
A Georgia State Patrol trooper is recovering after receiving injuries during a chase with another driver. The trooper tried pulling over a silver Hyundai Sonata along on I-85 South at Indian Trail Road on Monday evening for a seatbelt violation, but the driver of the Sonata started speeding away. GSP said the trooper chased the driver along I-85 south, onto I-285 East. The driver of the Sonata then sped onto Lavista Road. The driver then started to turn onto Fellowship Road, but quickly turned back and ended up hitting the trooper's patrol cruiser on the driver's side. The driver of the Sonata then got out of the car and ran away. The trooper received minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated. Luckily, no one else was injured in this incident.

Illinois State Police trooper injured in crash on I-57 ramp in Chicago's south suburbs
An Illinois State Police trooper was hospitalized Thursday afternoon after a cruiser was hit by a wrong-way driver on a ramp from Interstate 57 in Chicago's southern suburbs. The crash happened on the ramp from 159th Street to I-57 in Markham. The squad car ended up partially off the road. Information about the trooper's condition, and about whether there were any arrests or citations, was not immediately available.
