Cardinal Plumbing Heating & Air, a trusted home service provider based in Northern Virginia, honors the day by championing the role of smart technology to enhance efficiency within the field and to deliver better outcomes for home and small business owners. "The best HVAC contractors have always embraced cutting-edge technology, such as smart thermostats, to make life better for homeowners, allowing technicians to more rapidly diagnose issues, optimize system performance and recommend needed maintenance," said Daniel Fuentes, co-founder of Cardinal Plumbing Heating & Air. "At Cardinal, our technicians use advanced technology to provide local customers with prompt and effective service, and to tailor the recommendations we make for system installation or maintenance." Increasingly, the HVAC industry has embraced smart technology to help technicians save time at each jobsite, allowing them to serve more customers and to ensure higher rates of satisfaction. One prominent example is remote monitoring technology, a category that encompasses smart thermostats as well as IoT-enabled HVAC units. These technologies enable technicians to diagnose issues before they even arrive at the jobsite—ensuring they arrive with the right tools and parts, promoting higher first-time fix rates. AI has also become more widespread among HVAC contractors, playing an increasingly central role in predictive maintenance. "Using AI to analyze HVAC performance issues allows technicians to anticipate repair or replacement needs and to advise homeowners to take action before they experience HVAC failure or other major problems," said Fuentes. Similarly, smart and Bluetooth-connected gauges and leak detectors make diagnostic work more accurate and efficient, meaning technicians can address customer concerns more expediently. Thousands of lobsters released in Cornwall anniversary challenge

More than 1,000 baby lobsters have been released in the waters around St Michael's Mount in Cornwall as part of an anniversary 'releasathon'. The release marked the end of a challenge by The National Lobster Hatchery (NLH) to conduct 25 lobster releases in 25 locations over 25 consecutive days for its 25th anniversary. The challenge began on 19 May on the Isles of Scilly and included other releases in locations including Charlestown, Mousehole and NLH said "just shy of 5,000 juveniles" had been released in waters around Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly as part of the project. The NLH was founded in Padstow in August 2000 to help preserve, research and educate the public about the European charity said it was "hugely rewarding" to collaborate with other organisations and "provide another generation of lobsters to Cornwall's coastal waters".In a post on social media, the team at St Michael's Mount thanked everyone who helped release the 1,088 baby lobsters in the surrounding water on said: "At just two months old and barely an inch long, these baby lobsters were fully developed and ready to embark on life in the wild. "Once released, some began burrowing into the sand of the rock pools, others tucked themselves beneath the sheltering seaweed, and a few wasted no time feasting on the fresh sea lettuce."Earlier in the 'releasathon' Theo Johns, senior technician at NLH, told BBC Radio Cornwall it was the "perfect point" in time to release the baby Johns said: "It's at this stage in their life cycle that they become benthic, meaning they settle on the seabed and live in there [for 12 to 18 months]."He said burrowing in the sediment was an important stage in the lobsters' lives as it helped them learn how to live in the sea.

Truck driver acquitted in fatal Panchkula crash over procedural errors

The court of additional chief judicial magistrate (CJM) Kirti Vashista has acquitted Harmesh Kumar, a truck driver from Kharar (Mohali), in a fatal road accident case, in which a 23-year-old man, Veerpal, had lost his life. The acquittal stems from numerous procedural lapses identified in the prosecution's case. The Sector-14 police station had registered a case against Harmesh Kumar on September 3, 2022, under Sections 279 (rash driving) and 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC. According to the prosecution, the accident occurred near the Sector 12-A/Sector 20 light points, involving a Chandigarh-registered motorcycle and a Punjab-registered truck. The victim, Veerpal, originally from Muradabad, UP, was residing in Govindpura, Manimajra, and was working as a technician. His brother, Pritam Kumar, the complainant, stated that Veerpal was en route to IDBI Bank, Zirakpur, for repairing of a tower installed there, when he met with accident. The prosecution alleged that the accused truck driver was driving at high speed in a rash and negligent manner, causing Veerpal's death. However, the court observed critical flaws. The prime witness and complainant, Pritam Kumar, was never examined by the prosecution, severely weakening their case. Furthermore, the informer/eyewitness who notified Pritam about the accident was also not called as a witness. The prosecution failed to include any independent public witnesses despite their availability, and no test identification parade(TIP) of the accused was conducted, casting a 'shadow of cloud' over the prosecution's version. The court emphasised that rashness and negligence cannot be presumed merely from the occurrence of an accident, requiring definite evidence, which was absent as no prosecution witness testified to the accused's rash and negligent driving. Consequently, finding that the prosecution failed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt, the court granted Harmesh Kumar the benefit of doubt and acquitted him of all charges.
