Browns' Shedeur Sanders Offers Bizarre Explanation For Two Speeding Tickets

Browns' Shedeur Sanders Offers Bizarre Explanation For Two Speeding Tickets originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Before his son took an epic tumble down the NFL Draft last April, Deion Sanders lashed out at critics who dared to relay negative stories about Shedeur's character. Advertisement Said Deion, "A young man that has never been in trouble, never involved in an off field incident, & quarterbacked two Universities to a resurgence has 0 behind the scenes qualities?" Oops. Make that two troubling off-field incidents - both resulting in citations for driving dangerously fast - in two weeks. Before the dust settled on Shedeur's ticket for driving 101 mph in a 60 mph zone this week, it's now been uncovered that the controversial Cleveland Browns' rookie quarterback was pulled over for the same offense on June 5. According to WKBN-TV in Cleveland, the Ohio State Highway Patrol issued him a citation for driving 91 mph in a 65 mph zone in Brunswick Hills. According to public records, Shedeur last Monday failed to appear in court for arraignment on the first speeding ticket and on Tuesday morning was pulled over again for doing 101 mph. He reportedly faces $269 in fines and court costs stemming from the June 5 violation and failure to appear in court, and another $250 for his speeding violation this week. Appearing at teammate David Njoku's charity softball game Thursday night in Eastlake, Ohio, Shedeur seemed hardly remorseful. In a video shot before pre-game introductions, he talked in his trademark mumbly cadence which, at times, sounds almost slurred. Advertisement "I know I be vibin', bruh," a laughing, smiling Shedeur seems to say to a man standing next to him. "I'm just a little boy. I made some wrong choices, personally, and I gotta own up to 'em. I made some, you know, not great choices. I learn from 'em. I learn. I learn." Committing the exact same mistake twice in two weeks doesn't exactly sound like "learning" as much as it does "repeating." At this point Deion needs to stop coddling his son and start teaching him some history about NFL players driving recklessly fast. He can start with Rashee Rice and Henry Ruggs, then throw in the tale of teammate of Myles Garrett. Shedeur, by the way, is 23 years old. In the video, the man next to Shedeur says, "He's just a regular kid. What's wrong with y'all? He ain't do nothing wrong." Shedeur Sanders' ticket for allegedly speeding over 100 mph wasn't his first since joining Browns: 'I've made some wrong choices'

Shedeur Sanders' speeding ticket Tuesday for allegedly driving more than 100 mph wasn't his first since joining the Cleveland Browns. Per the Browns' rookie quarterback was previously cited by the Ohio State Highway Patrol on June 6 for speeding in the Cleveland suburb of Medina, Ohio. Per the Highway Patrol, Sanders was driving 91 mph in a 65 mph zone on Interstate 71 at 5:13 p.m. Advertisement Per court records obtained by Sanders missed a June 16 arraignment related to the infraction. It's not clear from the report if Sanders was required to show up in court or if he had the option of paying a fine that would absolve him from his court date. Court records state the ticket was for $150 and that additional costs raised the total fine to $249. On June 17 — the night after his scheduled court date — Sanders was pulled over in Strongville, Ohio at 12:24 a.m. for his second speeding infraction in two weeks. Police say he was driving 101 mph in a 60-mph zone in his Dodge pickup truck on Interstate 71 in the Cleveland suburb. Police released bodycam footage of the traffic stop that appeared to take place without notable incident. Per Sanders has a July 3 court date scheduled in Strongsville's Mayor's Court related to the second speeding infraction. Browns spokesman Peter John-Baptiste told the team has addressed the infractions with Sanders. Advertisement 'He is taking care of the tickets,' John-Baptiste told Sanders addressed the matter during an appearance at teammate David Njoku's celebrity softball game on Thursday, acknowledging he's "made some wrong choices" in between laughs to the camera. The Browns selected Sanders in the fifth round of April's NFL Draft out of Colorado. Sanders, the son of Colorado coach and Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, was projected to be selected significantly higher, and his slide to the fifth round became the story of the NFL Draft. Sanders was the second quarterback selected by the Browns, who drafted Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel in the third round. Both quarterbacks are engaged in a battle for the starting quarterback position in Cleveland alongside veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett. Advertisement Deshaun Watson, who's under contract for $230 million, is recovering from an Achilles injury that's expected to keep him sidelined until late in the 2025 season at the earliest. He struggled on the field prior to his injury and was at risk of losing his starting quarterback job, regardless. The Browns wrapped mandatory minicamp last week. The competition for Cleveland's starting quarterback position will resume at training camp in July.

Browns rookie QB Shedeur Sanders ticketed for speeding twice in June

STRONGSVILLE, Ohio (AP) — Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders has been ticketed for speeding twice this month in Ohio. Sanders was accused of driving a Dodge TRX pickup truck 101 mph (163 kilometers per hour) on a suburban Cleveland interstate earlier this week. Advertisement The Strongsville Police Department stopped Sanders at about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday in a 60 mph (97 kilometers per hour) zone on Interstate 71 near the Ohio Turnpike, according to a report provided to local media. Sanders, 23, could pay a $250 fine to waive the fourth-degree misdemeanor case, according to police. But it wasn't the first time he'd been pulled over for allegedly speeding since joining the Browns. That ticket came after he was stopped by the Ohio State Patrol on June 5 in Brunswick Hills, Ohio. Sanders was pulled over for going 91 mph (147 kilometers per hour) in a 65 mph (105 kilometer) zone, Ohio State Patrol told WKBN-TV. Advertisement According to Medina Municipal Court records, Sanders failed to appear for an arraignment for that ticket on Monday and owes $269 in court costs. Browns spokesman Peter John- Baptiste told Thursday that: 'he is taking care of the tickets.' Sanders, the son of Hall of Fame player Deion Sanders, was drafted in the fifth round (144th overall) of the NFL draft this spring, even though many projections had him going in the first round. He played under his father at the University of Colorado. Sanders is competing against three other quarterbacks with the Browns. They wrapped up minicamp last week and will open training camp in late July. ___ AP NFL: The Associated Press

St. Vital residents call for more stop signs on busy road to curb speeders

A car drives on Des Meurons Street in Winnipeg, Man. on June 19, 2025. (Jamie Dowsett/CTV News Winnipeg) A Winnipeg city councillor is calling for a traffic study on a busy St. Vital roadway due to a rise in speeding. A motion submitted to the Riel Community Committee by Coun. Brian Mayes (St. Vital) calls for a traffic study of Des Meurons Street between Regal and Blenheim avenues. According to the motion, residents have noticed an increase in speeding, with vehicles sometimes travelling as fast as 60 to 70 km/h. The current speed limit is 50 km/h, except in posted school zones. Mayes said residents want additional stop signs to slow traffic for kids heading to school, the playground or the outdoor pool. The motion calls for the city's public service to study the road's traffic patterns, speed compliance, safety risks and the impact of additional stop signs. If recommended, the motion would then have to get the green light from the city's standing policy committee on public works, which would then direct the public service to carry out the study. The motion will be considered at a June 25 meeting.
