COMO Shambhala at COMO Metropolitan Singapore

Welcome to the second iteration of Vogue's global spa guide, an index of the 100 best spas in the world, built from the expertise of our global editors and trusted contributors. There is a lot to choose from in the world of wellness, and no matter how far you're planning to travel—from a subway ride to a trans-Atlantic flight—we want to make sure it's worth the journey. Whatever your path, let us be your guide. Why go here? COMO Shambhala Singapore is the only Singaporean outlet for the Singapore-based and founded COMO Shambhala, part of the larger COMO hotels & resorts empire, founded by Christina Ong. While the Bali location is advertised as the premiere retreat for a secluded, all-encompassing experience, the Singapore location is the 'urban flagship,' touted as the center for innovation for the entire Shambhala enterprise. In a city where you can't walk a block without running into a second-floor walk-in massage parlor, it offers something distinctly high-end, stylish, efficient, and elegant. Photo: Courtesy of COMO Shambhala What's the vibe? Designed by Milan-based designer and architect, Paola Navone of OTTO Studio, COMO Shambhala Singapore is aesthetically unified by its pale blue tiles, sort of like what you might find in an upscale Italian pool or a location scouted by Italian director Paolo Sorrentino. It's a quite distinct look for an Asian spa, modern, crisp and without a bamboo shoot or orchid in sight. (Delicious warm ginger tea is served in cups sourced by Ong from artisanal pottery studio in Ubud, Bali, pottery—that's the kind of inspired aesthetic grace notes the spa incorporates.) The spa itself feels like the kind of place that busy Singaporeans might stop by for an hour or two. People don't seem to stay still in general in this city, and the spa seems aware that it's (mostly) catering to a clientele that is on the move. (There is a multi-day 'digestive reset' program involving cleanses of varying intensities if you do want to call the hotel and spa home for a stretch.) On the day I visited there were far more people bustling in and out in spandex than shuffling around in robes. What's the history? As mentioned, COMO Shambhala, with 16 locations around the world (spanning the globe, from Turks and Caicos to Bhutan to London), has become synonymous with elegant, high-end wellness retreats. But there is a special resonance to COMO Shambhala Singapore, the only Singaporean outlet for the Singapore-based company. COMO Shambhala, in fact, first started in 1997 as a local yoga studio in the city. This outlet is part of the relatively new COMO Orchard hotel, which opened in 2023, just off the buzzing, luxury-laden shopping thoroughfare of Orchard Road where pedestrians pass in and out of air-conditioned malls, laden with Gucci or Prada shopping bags.

English seaside cocktail bar that ‘feels like being in Miami' is right by the beach

THE sun is blazing, you have a spritz in your hand and you're surrounded by beachy-vibe interiors with pale blues and vibrant pinks - it feels like Miami, but actually you're in a bar in Bournemouth. South Beach Restaurant and Bar at The NICI Hotel in Bournemouth is an all-day drinking and dining venue. 7 7 7 The terrace is also the ultimate suntrap, where guests can sip on a summer-themed tipple or snack on light bites by the pool. Located in The NICI hotel on Bournemouth's West Cliff, the resort has a luxury spa, 30 metre outdoor pool and cabana area, fire pits and more. At the bar and restaurant, individuals can enjoy "Champagne afternoon teas and classics with a Miami twist", according to The NICI's website. The bar's Afternoon Tea is served daily between 3pm and 5pm for £29 per person. However you can upgrade the Afternoon Tea to include prosecco for £35 per person or to include Moet and Chandon for £40 per person. In addition, the venue serves up creative desserts including a strawberry cake with candy floss, tropical Eton Mess and peanut butter and rum bananas. Sunday lunch costs £27 for two courses or £35 for three courses. One recent visitor said: "We loved the excellent attention to detail with the Miami theme running throughout. "Dinner and breakfast at the South Beach Restaurant didn't disappoint. "Seated by the window so we could enjoy the view - such a perfect spot. Trendy English seaside town has rooftop bar that 'feels like the Med' Another added: "The NICI has been a wonderful experience. "Beautiful setting and very cool decor. Feels like Miami!" Whilst guests heading to the restaurant and bar can't use the pool, the pool water and vibrant sunbeds nearby transport you to a Miami-like destination with great views. Inside the hotel itself, there are over 80 guest rooms and suites, including Sea View Suites with modern interiors. 7 7 7 The spa embraces the theme of coastal calm, with indoor and outdoor pools, a hydrotherapy suite and bespoke treatments. And in addition to South Beach Bar and Restaurant, there is also Old Harry Rocks which embraces a laid-back vibe with bold flavours and live DJs every weekend. For an added bonus, the hotel is also dog friendly. What is it like to stay at the hotel? The Sun's Fabulous Lifestyle Editor Catherine Bennion-Pedley recently visited. As well as the beautiful pool, there's a dinky cinema showing four films each day and a petite playroom with table football, giant Jenga and board games. Some rooms come with hot tubs, while others have freestanding baths – bag one with a sea view and you'll wake up thinking you're in the South of France! Its chic-as interiors are super- Instagrammable – rooms are fresh white with bold, palm-print textiles and brass lighting, while ice-cream pastels, glitterballs and eye-catching artwork adorn the communal areas. But really, it's the outdoor heated pool that steals the show. The Sun's travel reporter Cyann Fielding also headed to a unique pub with a real beach in central London. Plus, the English pub where the beer garden is on the beach and people say feels 'more like Miami'. 7

Unexpected Spanish area that's got posh, revealed by a travel expert: From incredible hotels and restaurants to amazing sights, you'll NEVER guess where the smart set are now going...

Lying by my infinity pool, listening to a waterfall cascading over rocks carved with Buddha figures, while gazing across palm-filled gardens, it feels like the set of The White Lotus. Yet despite the sumptuous spa and bungalow-style suites at the plush Asia Gardens Hotel, this isn't Bali.

Knights Hill Hotel and Spa on sale for $10.76m

Knights Hill Hotel and Spa, a hospitality establishment in north-west Norfolk, UK, is currently on the market with a £7.95m ($10.76m) asking price. The freehold sale is being facilitated by business property adviser Christie & Co. This historic Grade II listed building, which has been under the same ownership for more than 35 years, offers 79 bedrooms with plans to add 12 rooms approved in July 2024. The hotel's facilities and accommodation have been transformed from former agricultural buildings over the years by the current owner, who is now retiring. Nestled near the Sandringham Estate in the North Norfolk coast, the property encompasses conference and banqueting rooms, as well as a health club and spa. Christie & Co Hotels director Simon Jackaman is overseeing the sale process of this independently owned and operated hotel. Jackaman said: 'This is an exceptional opportunity to purchase one of the region's finest hotels. This full turn-key opportunity enables a new owner to take over a fully operating business that has an excellent reputation with genuine scope to enhance the trade further.' In a related development, Christie & Co recently announced that it is managing the sale of Banchory Lodge Hotel, a hospitality property in Royal Deeside, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. With 28 boutique ensuite bedrooms, the property is on the market for £3.5m. Last month, Christie & Co was appointed to facilitate the sale of Bournemouth West Cliff Hotel & Spa. "Knights Hill Hotel and Spa on sale for $10.76m" was originally created and published by Hotel Management Network, a GlobalData owned brand.
