Save Your Batteries, This Solar-Powered Security Camera Is 50% off Right Now
Are you looking to outfit your home with a new smart security camera? While sales events like Prime Day in July are a great time to buy, you can get this excellent Eufy wireless solar-powered 2K security camera today for only $65. The Eufy Solocam S220 is a capable outdoor security camera like any other, only it has a few fancy tricks up its sleeve. You won't have to run a bunch of long power wires or deal with constantly replacing or recharging batteries, something most security cameras struggle with. That's because this outdoor security camera is solar-powered and only needs about three hours of sunlight to keep tabs on your home daily. Eufy's Solocam S220's MSRP is $130, although it is often discounted to under $100. Lucky for you, Amazon just slashed the price by 50%, making this stellar camera only $64.99. So, what does this camera offer, and what can you expect for your money? Well, quite a bit, thankfully. It's easy to mount just about anywhere, although you'll want a spot with plenty of sunshine. Then, pair it with the Eufy app, and you'll get crystal-clear 2K resolution video of all the happenings around your home. While the battery inside is charged by the solar cell, you shouldn't have to deal with it at all. The Eufy Solocam S220 offers night vision thanks to an Infrared LED and movement detection. It also uses AI to detect familiar faces, animals, and more to know when a notification is worth sending. That way, you won't get alerts for a branch blowing in the wind. This outdoor solar-powered security camera only takes about five minutes to install. It has a durable IP67 rating to handle any outdoor conditions, 2-way audio, and custom security zones you can customize in the app, to name a few. More importantly, there's no monthly fee with Eufy, so you buy once and enjoy peace of mind for years to come. If there's a downside, the unit only has 8GB of storage, so storage space is somewhat limited. Either way, this solid camera makes home security a breeze. Grab yours before it sells out.

Sky's little-known Ring doorbell rival receives a big upgrade to help catch intruders
SKY'S Ring doorbell rival has just received a bunch of upgrades in a bid to win over more households. Few realise that the broadcasting giant has its very on smart security devices. 2 2 Sky Protect launched in May 2023 as an alternative to Ring, Nest and other big brands. The products available not only include a video doorbell, but also indoor cameras, motion sensors and leak detectors. However, you can't simply buy the gadgets outright like any other item. Sky Protect bundles the devices to a home insurance service. The devices are worth £250 and are included at no extra cost, to offer extra peace of mind alongside the insurance policy. But in an update, Sky has revealed a number of improvements. "We've made it even easier to spot night-time visitors by improving the Night Vision feature on our Video Doorbell," the firm said. "We have made two updates which give you higher quality and more reliable image from your Video Doorbell." Night Vision mode now captures even clearer images, by reducing any bright white glare that could wash out your image, for a sharper and clearer view. It's also more reliable now too, preventing any problems that could previously cause a pink screen. Elsewhere, the update prevents any missed doorbell presses. And the ding dong happens twice as fast. There are new controls for clip recordings as well, which will help the battery. So, from now on you'll be able to adjust the maximum recording length of time your Video Doorbell records for when it detects motion. This ranges from 15 seconds, 30 seconds and 60 seconds. You can do this in the Sky Protect app by doing the following:

Smart security adoption rises in Saudi homes with a digital-first approach
Driven by peace of mind, real-time connectivity, and Vision 2030, Saudi families embrace smart cameras for safety, convenience, and control. Saudi Arabia's journey toward Vision 2030 is fueling a surge in smart security adoption, with families embracing intelligent home monitoring systems that offer convenience, connectivity, and peace of mind. The shift reflects a broader digital transformation, where technology enhances daily life and personal safety. Mohammad Meraj Hoda, VP of business development – Emerging Markets, Ring spoke to on what's driving consumer preferences, how smart cameras differ from traditional CCTV systems, and how companies like Ring are delivering innovation while safeguarding user privacy through advanced security features. What are the key factors driving the high adoption of smart security devices in Saudi Arabia, and how do these align with the goals of KSA Vision 2030? Saudi Arabia's high adoption of smart security devices is driven by a strong desire for enhanced peace of mind, improved video quality, and ease of installation. Research shows that 91% of Saudis feel more comfortable with a monitoring camera at home. Additionally, 84% of residents are considering upgrading or purchasing new smart cameras, with key motivators including the desire for greater control over home monitoring, better visual clarity, and effortless, DIY installation. The increasing demand is also aligned with KSA Vision 2030 goals, which emphasise smart living and digital transformation. Apart from traditional security, how are Saudi families using smart cameras, and what makes them different from your basic CCTV? Beyond traditional security, Saudi families are increasingly using smart cameras to enrich their daily lives by staying connected to their homes and loved ones, even when away. Smart cameras like those from Ring are being used to keep an eye on children, check on elderly family members, and communicate directly with delivery personnel. What truly sets smart cameras apart from basic CCTV systems is the intelligence, interactivity, and flexibility they offer. Unlike basic CCTV, which mainly records footage for later review, smart cameras provide real-time notifications, two-way communication, and remote access through mobile apps, allowing users to see, speak to, and respond to visitors or activities at home instantly. 'Features such as Customisable Motion Zones, Extended and Continuous Live View, and Head-to-Toe HD Video allow Saudi families to personalise their home monitoring experience according to their needs.' Additionally, Ring's solutions offer easy DIY installation, seamless integration with other smart devices like Alexa, and advanced privacy controls—far beyond the capabilities of traditional CCTV. These innovations align perfectly with the evolving lifestyles and digital-first mindset of Saudi families today. What technological features do Saudi consumers prioritise, including video quality, ease of installation, and extended viewing? Saudi consumers prioritise several key technological features when choosing smart security solutions. These include superior video quality for clear and detailed monitoring, easy and seamless installation with an emphasis on DIY setups, and Extended and Continuous Live View, which allows ongoing monitoring of important activities like children playing or pets at home. Additionally, features like Head-to-Toe HD Video and Customisable Motion Zones are important, enabling users to tailor their security coverage to their specific needs. Ring's product portfolio is thoughtfully designed to meet these exact expectations. Cameras like the Ring Battery Video Doorbell and the Ring Pan-Tilt Indoor Camera offer high-definition video, real-time motion alerts, and customisable motion zones to enhance user control. Ring also ensures easy setup through a user-friendly app and provides smart integrations with Alexa for a seamless connected experience. How can families ensure their data is protected when using smart home technology as privacy is a major concern with connected devices? We always prioritise the safety and security of our customers. Privacy, security, and control are at the forefront when developing our products. In the Ring app, customers can use Control Centre, an easy-to-use dashboard, to view and control their privacy and security settings. We've also put features in place across all our devices to ensure privacy, security, and user control remain front and centre – including customisable Privacy Zones to block out 'off-limit' areas, Motion Zones to control the areas customers want their Ring device to detect motion, and Audio Toggle to turn audio on and off. Customers can also opt in to video End-to-End Encryption, which means they can add an extra layer of security that only allows their videos to be viewed on their chosen mobile device. We also use enhanced account security measures, such as mandatory two-factor authentication and login notifications, which inform users if a new device or browser logs into their account.
