Trains between Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury disrupted after points failure
Rail passengers are being warned of potential disruption to their services following a points failure and signalling Rail said the failure between Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street was causing disruption to journeys between the two stations on Wednesday.A spokesperson said the issue had since been fixed but disruption was expected until 19:00 BST and some trains might be cancelled or delayed by up to 30 Northwestern Railway and West Midlands Railway passengers have been advised tickets can be used on some other services, with some rail replacement bus services in operation. A limited rail replacement bus service would run between Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton at no extra cost, Transport for Wales (TfW) said.A TfW spokesperson advised passengers could use their tickets on Avanti West Coast services between Wolverhampton and Birmingham in both directions "until further notice".A fault with the signalling system between Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton also meant trains between the two stations were delayed by up to 30 minutes, National Rail added. Glasgow rail travellers have been warned of rush-hour disruption amid an issue this morning. Network Rail Scotland is currently dealing with a signalling fault in the Cathcart area. Due to the problem, ScotRail said services in the area may be delayed or altered. Engineers are on their way to the area to deal with the fault. Rail passengers in the West Midlands are being warned of a day of disruption due to a signalling fault. Transport for Wales (TfW) services between Shrewsbury and Birmingham International and West Midlands Railway trains between Shrewsbury and Birmingham New Street are affected, National Rail said. It added trains running between Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton may be cancelled, delayed by up to 20 minutes or reduced. The issues, caused by a problem with the signalling system between Shifnal and Codsall, are expected to last until the end of the day. West Midlands Railway said rail replacement buses were on standby in Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton.
