Pilot program in the works for a public Red Rocks shuttle in the Denver metro area
Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre in Colorado is one of the most popular attractions in the state, and it may soon have a public transit option to get there. Officials in Denver and Jefferson County are building on an idea first shared by the environmental advocacy group Green Latinos to develop some form of public transportation. Currently, RTD's W line can take riders from downtown Denver all the way to the Jefferson County government center in Golden. But that's the end of the road for the line. The plan being considered is to use a shuttle -- either vans or buses -- to take light rail passengers from Golden to Red Rocks as well as several other outdoor attractions. Jefferson County Commissioner Andy Kerr referred to it as "West tracks" and would include a stop at Dinosaur Ridge, mountain biking and hiking areas as well as Red Rocks. Kerry said the hope is to do a test run in the fall. "We were really hoping to get something off the ground this summer but a lot of our partners -- Jefferson County, Denver Parks have offered up some money for this summer -- it might just be a weekend where we run the shuttle from here from the Jeffco government center and try it out. Hopefully people come and use it and we can work out some kinks so that next summer we could as early as the Memorial Day weekend really hit the ground running and maybe have this up and running," Kerr said. RTD says Jefferson County did submit an application for their partnership program, which allocates grant money for a service that would have stops at Red Rocks, but they say the proposal would not accommodate evening concerts. Kerr says currently the W Line doesn't operate late into the evening and for purposes of the pilot program they wanted to avoid having trying to get RTD to adjust service hours.

New app allows passengers to track shuttles at Denver International Airport
Passengers who use the shuttle lots to get to the Denver International Airport now have a new way to track their shuttle. Passio Go! uses live tracking technology so passengers know where they can find their shuttle. The app and browser-based version works just as easily as Uber. Once you park in the Pikes Peak or Longs Peak lots, the app does the rest. Now, passengers don't have to guess how long it will take to get picked up. The shuttle service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There are between eight and 13 buses that arrive every 7 to 15 minutes, based on the time of day. It's free and relatively easy to use for most people; you just choose which lot you parked in. The Passio Go! app and website now allow people using the shuttles at Denver International Airport to track the shuttles to and from the Pikes Peak and Longs Peak lots. CBS It will also post alerts to let you know if your shuttle has been delayed. It's still recommended to arrive at the airport at least two hours before your flight. "When passengers come to the lot, instead of waiting for a shuttle or thinking they missed one, they can just track it," Charles Chang, general manager of Denver Shuttles. "They can actually see where the buses are and take their time." There are QR codes available at each of the parking lots to help make planning your trip easier.

Hop on this bus to head directly to Moraine Lake from Calgary
Those wishing to take in the majestic beauty of Moraine Lake this summer can easily access the popular tourist destination thanks to a new route from FlixBus. The intercity bus service will take people from several Calgary locations to the Moraine Lake Road parking lot, directly adjacent to the lake. Previously, the FlixBus bus went to Canmore, downtown Banff and Lake Louise Village, but not the lake. Moraine Lake, named among the world's most beautiful places by Condé Nast Traveler, is only accessible from June to October and a shuttle is required to access it. 'This extension to Moraine Lake reflects both our rapid growth across Canada and our commitment to making world-class destinations more accessible to more people,' said spokesperson Karina Frayter in a Friday news release. 'Banff is a bucket-list region that draws travelers from across the globe, and with shuttle options to Moraine Lake often fully booked months in advance, we saw an opportunity to provide a more convenient, reliable and affordable way to get there.' The new extended route starts on June 2, operating twice daily, seven days a week.
