Mum of murdered Libby Squire slams ‘legal loophole' that allows pervs to dodge sex register & says lives would be saved

THE mother of a 21-year-old student who was murdered by a vile sex offender has slammed a ridiculous legal loophole that allows pervs to dodge the sex offenders register. Lisa Squire's daughter Libby was killed in Hull in 2019 by a prolific sex offender leaving Lisa heartbroken. 5 Lisa was horrified to learn that men who commit indecent exposure can avoid being put on the sex offenders register. The loophole that prevents pervs from being put on the register means those who commit indecent exposure can avoid being monitored by police. Pawel Relowicz, the vile sex offender who murdered Libby, had a history of indecent exposure. Evil police officer Wayne Couzens who murdered Sarah Everard in 2021 also had a history of indecent exposure. Ministers have been pushing for stronger legislation with mounting evidence showing those who commit indecent exposure go on to commit violent offences. A landmark Bill making sure offenders can't slip through the net is set to make its way back through the commons. Libby's mother, Lisa, branded the Bill Libby's Law Part One and told The Mirror: "It's a perfect legacy for Libby. "Her death was so preventable, it shouldn't have happened, but she's making a difference. "If we can learn from her death that's perfect, it makes it a bit less senseless." Current laws require prosecutors to prove an offender caused alarm or distress with their actions to get a conviction for exposure. I felt guilty for not making my daughter report indecent exposure - it could've saved her life, says Libby Squire's mum Commonly offenders are charged with outraging public decency instead which does not result in them being added to the sex offenders register and allows them to dodge police monitoring. Soon after Libby's killer Relowicz was arrested Lisa was told by cops that he had a history of committing sexual offences. The evil killer plead guilty to nine sexual offences unrelated to Libby's murder, including voyeurism and outraging public decency. Lisa said: "If more people had come forward and reported their experiences, and if police had been able to join the dots there might have been a different situation." Since the horror loss of her daughter Lisa has campaigned for victims to report non-contact sex offences to police, saying doing so will prevent more cases like her daughter's. 5 5 The distraught mum was shocked to learn that offenders charged with outraging public decency can avoid being put on the register. She said: "I never even imagined that they wouldn't be. When I found out they weren't I thought it was ridiculous. These are people that we should be watching." Lisa has demanded compulsory treatment programmes to stop those charged with indecent exposure's behaviour escalating to more violent crimes and called for jail terms for those convicted of non-contact sex offences like exposure and voyeurism. She reportedly believes her daughters death could have been prevented if more serious action was taken against vile Relowicz at an earlier stage. Lisa believes that lives could be saved with the loophole closed and has campaigned tirelessly to make that a reality. The Mirror reveal data showing the number of indecent exposure cases reported to police has skyrocketed since 2019. Data from 37 of the 43 police forces in England and Wales show a 15% rise in five years, while arrests have gone up by around 35%. Dame Diana Johnson, Labour's Policing Minister, told MPs last year that in five years almost 250 men found guilty of indecent exposure were later found guilty of rape. She told the Commons: "Indecent exposure and non-contact sexual offences are gateway crimes that are still not taken seriously enough." The Home Office has now commissioned research into the link between non-contact sex offences and more violent crimes. A National Police Chiefs' Council spokesman said: 'Sexual exposure is an incredibly serious crime which can be invasive and distressing for victims. "We have been working hard to improve our response to sexual exposure and other non-contact sexual offences." Justice Minister Alex Davies-Jones said: 'Exposure is a degrading and cowardly crime, which can often escalate into serious offending. "We're strengthening the law to bolster protection for victims, meaning offenders with a broader range of motivations, such as the intention to cause humiliation or for the purpose of sexual gratification, can be prosecuted - and added to the sex offender register where necessary. 'I am grateful to Libby's family, and other victims and survivors, who have bravely campaigned for change in this area.' 5

Virginia woman seemed like an average 'soccer mom'...now judge's ex-wife, 46, learns fate after pedo sting arrest

A Virginia mom-of-two was sentenced to serve over a decade behind bars after she was caught distributing child pornography in a disturbing plot to molest an eight-year-old girl. Eleanor Hunton Hoppe, 46, ex-wife of federal judge Joel Hoppe, pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of child pornography as part of a plea agreement requiring her to serve 135 months in prison and 10 years of supervised release. In addition, she will have to register as a sex offender for a minimum period of 25 years, according to the US Attorney's Office, District of Columbia. According to court documents, in late February 2023, an undercover law enforcement officer encountered the high-profile mom on a fetish website where individuals discuss their sexual interest in children and exchange child sexual abuse material. She allegedly used the screenname 'titotori' and started an email chat with another user, who unbeknownst to her, was an undercover FBI Task Force officer based at the Washington DC field office and operating out of a satellite location. While on the site, Hoppe said she was a mother and that she wanted to discuss 'taboo parenting', court documents state. The undercover officer responded he was the father of a young girl, at which point Hoppe directed the agent to a social media app that encrypts messages. There, she used the name 'tori4fun' and in a series of messages starting February 23 she revealed she lived in Charlottesville. What followed were several exchanges where Hoppe described the sexual abuse she wished to put the undercover officer's daughter through in explicit detail. She repeatedly stated she 'wanted to assist the [undercover officer] in introducing his daughter to sexual activity,' according to court documents. 'On March 8, 2023, while discussing the sexual abuse that she intended to perpetrate against the [undercover officer's] daughter, [Hoppe] wrote the following: "A great [thing] to do is to wake her up by trying new things … that hazy/ dreamlike state is perfect to introduce a variety of new things … especially with someone to help with positioning Her body and then you let her fall right back to sleep,"' court documents read. Just days later, March 16, 2023, Hoppe arranged to have the undercover officer bring his daughter from D.C. to a motel in Warrenton, Virginia, where she would meet them to sexually abuse the child. 'While still discussing the plan to travel to D.C. to sexually abuse the UC's purported eight-year-old daughter, [Hoppe] told the [undercover officer,] "If I were you, I'd start building up Thursday telling her that you know it's gonna be super fun we're gonna hang out with an old friend of yours,"' court documents state. 'It's going to be like the best night ever blah blah blah and then once I get there, obviously, it will take a slight turn,' the documents continue. But, to her surprise, police arrested the Charlottesville-native when she arrived at the hotel. Court documents state that she waived her Miranda rights and told authorities of her intentions as well as her distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), saying she 'did it so to keep the [undercover officer] talking'. 'During an inventory search of [Hoppe's] car, law enforcement found a pink children's bag that contained lubricant, silk undergarments and a pink silk robe,' court documents state. Hoppe later pleaded guilty to distributing CSAM as part of a plea agreement in April. Hoppe grew up in Richmond, has two teen-aged daughters and describes herself as a 'soccer mom', as per sentencing documents. She is also the granddaughter of Eppa Hunton IV, former head of Hunton & Williams, now Hunton Andrews Kurth, one of Virginia's largest law firms. The court documents also claim that her crimes were caused by medication she was prescribed for restless leg syndrome, which induced 'hypersexuality' and a 'shift in sexual interests'. The Daily Mail reported in April 2023, that her ex-husband, federal judge Joel Hoppe, was fighting for full custody of their daughters then-aged 10 and 12, citing the shocking allegations against the mom in his legal documents. The ex spouses had previously agreed to joint physical custody in May 2021 after a messy divorce battle – during which the magistrate judge accused his ex-wife of hunting for sex with other men and women. But, just seven days after Hoppe was arrested at the hotel, the judge filed in Albemarle Circuit Court, Charlottesville, to reopen their divorce paperwork and obtain full custody of the two young girls. His filing states: 'A Final Order of Divorce was entered on May 11, 2021 resolving the issues of spousal support and child support. A final Custody and Visitation Order was entered on March 8, 2022. 'The defendant was taking into federal custody on March 16, 2023 on felony criminal charges involving minors. 'The criminal charges, the facts underlying the charges, and the consequences of the charges constitute a material change in circumstances regarding custody, visitation, spousal support and child support.' The judge then asked for the previous arrangement to be modified and has since successfully gained full custody of their two girls. From a mansion to prison cell: The shocking fall of Eleanor Hunton Hoppe Eleanor Hunton Hoppe grew up in a magnificent five bedroom, five bathroom Colonial Revival-style spread from the early 1900s in Westhampton, one of Richmond's most desirable neighborhoods. She was privately educated at the city's prestigious St Catherine's School – an Episcopal establishment for girls – and went on to obtain a BA in psychology from the University of Virginia. She can trace her family's links in Virginia back to Eppa Hunton I, who was born in 1789 and was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates. One of his sons, Eppa Hunton II, brought the family even more prominence. He was a lawyer who rose to become Confederate brigadier general during the American Civil War and later served as a Democrat in the US House of Representatives and then the US Senate. It was his son, Eppa Hunton III, who co-founded the law firm Munton, Hunton, Williams & Anderson which is now known as Hunton, Andrews, Kurth, and employs more than 900 attorneys in 20 offices. Hoppe's 75-year-old father used an email address from the firm when he had his daughter's 2019 charge dismissed. The accused mom boasts of working with several organizations involving young people and child advocacy on her LinkedIn page. She spent two years with non-profit Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Blue Ridge in Charlottesville, a support service helping local young people. The organization told us: 'We are deeply saddened to hear of this report involving an individual who formerly worked with our organization. 'Upon learning of the charges, our organization proactively reached out to law enforcement officials to share Ms. Hoppe's employment history with our organization. The safety and well-being of the children we serve is our highest priority.' Hoppe also spent a year at non-profit ReadyKids in the city, which offers counseling, family support and early learning opportunities. She was an 'early learning specialist… and in charge of all early learning playgroups' in three locations according to her LinkedIn biography. ReadyKids also said it is distraught to hear of the charges. 'As an organization that prioritizes child safety, we can confirm that Ms. Hoppe passed all required background checks, including criminal history and child protective services, and was employed in a program that worked exclusively with groups of parents present with their children. 'We strongly condemn any and all acts of violence against children and know the trauma it can cause. Our hearts and thoughts are with all children that have been affected by these horrible crimes.' Hoppe also said she worked for two years from 2000 for Virginia's Office of the Commonwealth Attorney as a victim-witness advocate, offering 'resources and referrals to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and violent crimes'. Additionally the mom was a formerly a volunteer at St Marks Memorial Church in Charlottesville, which is affiliated with her alma mater.

Former Galt medical facility employee sentenced in investigation into sexual assaults

GALT – A man was sentenced to nine years in prison after he was convicted of multiple sexual assaults at a Galt medical care facility earlier this year, police said on Thursday. The Galt Police Department said it received reports on Jan. 24 that an employee at the Rancho Seco Care Center sexually abused care home residents. The suspect was identified as 23-year-old Justin Atkinson of Stockton. The medical facility immediately suspended Atkinson after he was identified. He was a nursing assistant for about six weeks. Police said they interviewed every resident and staff member at the facility, identifying seven men as victims. Police said the victims' ages ranged from 60 to 87 years old. He was arrested four days after the initial report. He did not work or have access to the facility during those four days. Last week, he was sentenced to nine years for multiple charges, including lewd or lascivious acts by a caretaker of a dependent adult and oral copulation of a victim unable to give consent due to a mental disorder or physical disability. Once Atkinson is released from prison, he will be required to register as a tier three sex offender for the rest of his life.

Married Catholic school teacher's jaw drops as she learns her prison sentence for having sex with student

An Ohio Catholic school teacher's jaw hit the floor as she received her prison sentence for having sex with a student. Emily Nutley, 43, will send three years in prison and five additional years on probation after she was sentenced on Tuesday for having sexual relations with a 17-year-old who was studying at St Xavier High School in Cincinnati. The former teacher will also have to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life. Nutley was sentenced in the Hamilton County Common Pleas Court on Wednesday and pleaded guilty to sexual battery in April. During the case the court heard evidence of sexual messages she sent the boy, including one in which she wrote: 'What would be wild is that when the whole school is at Mass, I give you the best f**k of your life in my office.' Nutley and the boy wound up having sex several times from November through December 2023, at least once in her office at the all-boys school after hours. 'I crossed a line that should never have been crossed,' she said after her sentencing, according to WLWT. 'I think every day about the impact of my actions. I've lost my husband, my home, my friends. I've caused harm and embarrassment to my children.' The victim, who was not present, had a letter read by Elyse Deters, the assistant prosecutor. The male student wrote that his relationship with Nutley 'altered my high school experience and my life.' The teen admitted he 'didn't know I was being taken advantage of' and said the teacher 'would not leave me alone.' He added: 'She told me she would kill herself if I ended it.' The victim had asked for Nutley to suffer the maximum penalty of 10 years. He also said that the abuse 'left me confused, lacking self-worth and depressed. 'I can't get away from this. I have a hard time trusting people, especially authority figures.' Nutley pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual battery for her affair with a 17-year-old pupil, which lasted from November to December 2023. The former educator told Judge Jennifer Branch that she is now 'engaging with professionals who will help me understand [my] choices' after previously claiming that her husband's 'neglect' drove her to pursue relations with the teen. 'I am not asking for forgiveness because I have not earned it,' the former teacher said. But Branch said she was hoping to hear more of an apology from Nutley, as she sentenced the one-time teacher to three years behind bars. 'I was looking for you to say that you acknowledge the harm that you caused this young man... You pretty much ruined the rest of his high school career,' the judge said, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. 'I didn't see it. I didn't hear it.' In separate remarks the victim's father said his dream of going to college on an athletic scholarship was destroyed by Nutley's abuse. The teenager first met Nutley in 2023 through a program she ran for academically struggling students at the Catholic high school. They began texting after school hours last autumn and she sent him nude selfies and at least nine 'sexually explicit messages.' She also paid the teen an 'allowance' of $100 a month, would buy him food, and at least once supplied him with the answers to an exam. But by March of that year, the teenager wanted the relationship to end and asked to be released from the learning center's help. Soon after the boy's grades plummeted and he was failing three classes. Meanwhile, prosecutors said, Nutley continued texting the student. Eventually, rumors also started to circulate at the $18,130-a-year school that Nutley was having sex with the student. On October 8, 2024, the teen met with school administrators and reported at least four sexual encounters with the teacher. Nutley was fired as soon as the criminal investigation began, which led to her being indicted by a Hamilton County grand jury and arrested on October 28. St Xavier said at the time it 'believed this case to be an isolated incident.' A few weeks after the indictment Nutley's husband, Jonathan Nutley, filed for divorce, prompting his wife to accuse him of 'gross neglect of duty and extreme cruelty' in her legal response, TMZ reported. The disgraced educator has two daughters and a son, the eldest of whom is a junior at a different high school and only slightly younger than the victim. She previously taught at Madeira Elementary School, also in Cincinnati, and posted photos of her work and students there on social media. Nutley then joined the Jesuit school ahead of the 2021-22 year and was listed as the 'multi-tiered systems support coordinator' in the student handbook. In pre-sentencing documents, prosecutors argued Nutley 'preyed on the most defenseless person she could find' as her job at the school entailed identifying at-risk students and monitoring their progress. The prosecutors asked for at least a five-year prison sentence, while the victim's family asked Branch to sentence her to 10 years behind bars. But Nutley's defense argued she has already received threats from prison and has taken significant steps toward rehabilitation. Her lawyers also noted that she has already lost a lot, and said that a doctor who examined Nutley described her as a 'broken woman' plagued by mental health and substance abuse issues. In addition to serving three years in prison, Nutley will serve a five year probation. She will also be required to register as a Tier III sex offender every 90 days for the rest of her life.
