Bridge between Laval and Montreal to close over the weekend
The Papineau-Leblanc Bridge (A-19) will undergo construction throughout most of the next two years. (Wiki Commons) The Papineau-Leblanc Bridge connecting Montreal and Laval will be closed over the weekend for repair work. Those planning on travelling into the city or north of the island over the Rivière des Prairies should be prepared for traffic and plan trips using Waze or another app before leaving. The work will include replacing guardrails, wheel guards and bridge membrane, in addition to paving, according to the Quebec Transport Ministry (MTQ). Papineau-Leblanc Bridge (A-19) From Friday (June 20) at 10 p.m., to Monday at 5 a.m., the bridge will be closed southbound between Highway 440 (Jean-Noël-Lavoie) and Henri-Bourassa Boulevard. Northbound lanes will be closed between Henri-Bourassa Boulevard and De la Concorde Boulevard. Access to Saint-Martin Boulevard will be possible. Commuters are advised to use the Médéric-Martin Bridge on Highway 15 or the Pie-IX Bridge on Route-125. After the weekend, two lanes will be open in each direction until the end of 2026, except during overnight closures. The MTQ said all work may be cancelled due to weather or operational constraints. Orwell Bridge joint expansion repairs to begin for seven weeks
Essential work on a major bridge will begin for the next seven highways is replacing two expansion joints of Orwell Bridge, on the A14 near Ipswich, starting from Monday night until work is expected to cost £6m and once replaced the joints will last for 50 lane and road closures are set for the upcoming weeks as well as diversions that drivers may need to know about. Simon Amor, head of scheme delivery for National Highways in the East, previously explained the bridge had four expansion joints in total - two on each westbound carriageway joints will be replaced this year during the work and it is expected joints on the eastbound side will need replacing within the next five Amor said the work was "very complicated", but he was confident they would be finished in August. Here is a detailed look at the closures and other disruption that can be expected, according to National Highways:From Monday, there will be overnight lane closures in both directions between 20:00 and 06:00 BST the following morningFrom 20 June to 24 June, including weekends, the eastbound carriageway will then be closed overnight for the same hours. The westbound carriageway will remain open, but reduced to one lane overnightFrom the morning of 21 June, a reduced speed limit with apply in both 23 June, the eastbound carriageway will be reduced to one lane during the daytime, but the westbound will be unaffectedFrom 25 June, the westbound carriageway will be closed from 20:00 and remain closedFrom 26 June to August there will be a contraflow system in place with one lane open in each direction, 24/ well as this, National Highways said from 26 June the westbound entry slip road at junction 57 for the Nacton Interchange would be closed for the duration of the works."Our aim is to reduce congestion caused by joining traffic merging onto the A14 as all traffic approaches the contraflow," it added on its website. Crews will be working on a bridge reconstruction project on northbound and southbound I-25 under Weld County Road 24. The interstate will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday through Tuesday. Workers will be demolishing the current bridge over the highway so they can eventually move traffic to the new bridge. Meanwhile, Weld County Road 38 over I-25 will close Tuesday at 7 a.m. and stay closed through December.

Roadwork on closed down I-255 in St. Clair County to finish ahead of schedule
A section of Interstate 255 closed for more than four months for a $65.4 million roadwork project in St. Clair County is scheduled to reopen at 6 p.m. Saturday. The reopening of 3.5 miles of I-255 from Illinois 15 to Illinois 157 will be about six weeks ahead of the previously anticipated finish date of July 31, the Illinois Department of Transportation announced Friday. This section of the highway was closed on Feb. 1. There are two general contractors for the project: Keeley & Sons and Killian Corp., which are both located in the metro-east. To pay for the project, the state is using Rebuild Illinois funds, which come from increases in the state's motor fuel tax, the cigarette tax and vehicle registration fees approved by lawmakers in 2019. Crews have resurfaced the roadway that had pavement dating to 1984 when the highway was built, repaired bridges, added new lighting and made signage and drainage improvements. By closing the highway instead of trying to do the work while keeping lanes open, the state expects to save $10 million. This was the second of five phases to repair and improve I-255. While this I-255 section is reopening, metro-east commuters will still have to deal with a new closure for bridge repairs on the northbound and eastbound lanes of Interstate 55 and Interstate 70 running through north Collinsville from this weekend until June 30. This closure was scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. Friday between Illinois 157 and Illinois 159. The southbound and westbound lanes will remain open during the roadwork. In 2020, the state shut down sections of I-255 in the metro-east for nine months for roadwork. This $67 million project repaired a seven-mile stretch of the highway from Collinsville Road in southern Madison County to Illinois 15 in St. Clair County. 'The remaining three phases to improve I-255 will continue the work between the Mississippi River and Illinois 157,' according to a news release from the agency. 'Dates and timelines are still to be determined, but the projects are included in IDOT's latest multiyear program. No decisions have been made regarding additional full closures of the work zones.'
