OpenAI CEO accuses Meta of offering $100 million bonuses to poach employees

Meta has allegedly tried to recruit employees from competitor OpenAI by offering bonuses as high as $100 million, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman claimed on a podcast that aired Tuesday. "[Meta] started making giant offers to a lot of people on our team," Altman said on the Uncapped podcast, which is hosted by his brother. "You know, like $100 million signing bonuses, more than that [in] compensation per year." Meta's Zuckerberg Aiming To Dominate Ai Race With Recruiting Push For New 'Superintelligence' Team: Report Meta's alleged attempts to recruit OpenAI workers come as the tech giant works to advance its artificial intelligence strategy and build a superintelligence unit that can meet or exceed human capabilities, according to Reuters. None of OpenAI's "best people" have so far accepted Meta's alleged offers, Altman said. Meta Signs 20-Year Nuclear Power Deal With Constellation Read On The Fox Business App Competition to recruit artificial intelligence workers has reached an all-time high, with some believing that individual workers can heavily influence the trajectory of a company's success, Reuters reported. "I've heard that Meta thinks of us as their biggest competitor," the OpenAI CEO said. Openai Says This State Will Play Central Role In Artificial Intelligence Development Altman's claims follow reports earlier this month that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is working on building a superintelligence team from a group of artificial intelligence researchers and engineers. The Facebook owner plans to hire about 50 people for the team and will personally recruit most of the members, Bloomberg News reported. Earlier this year, Zuckerberg announced Meta is investing $65 billion into AI in 2025, including the construction of a massive data center. Martin Foyle was announced to be taking over Greg Abbott's role on June 18, following a 'a comprehensive, top-to-bottom review' of the football club. Advertisement Foyle was celebrated by the St Mirren boss for uncovering 'gems' that helped the Saints achieve a place in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League last season. The Scottish club's impressive recruitment put the spotlight on Foyle, with manager Robinson hailing the 61-year-old Englishman as "invaluable". Robinson told the BBC in August 2024: 'A lot of people don't notice the work that he does. "I've been working with Martin for a long, long time. He is irreplaceable. He finds me gems from his network of contacts all around the world. "We shouldn't get first refusal on a lot of players but because of his relationships we do. Advertisement "He's been invaluable to me; he certainly deserves a lot of credit.' Foyle explained why he decided to make the switch to Carlisle in an interview with the club on June 18. He said: 'There are things going on in the background that people don't see. "But my connection with Stephen is absolutely fantastic. He's a top-drawer manager, but sometimes, you need to move on. "Fresh faces, meeting people, but it's the project of trying to get Carlisle back in the league that excites me."

"Overall, everything was great. They treated us like a top priority…Their vibe was good. It opened their eyes, being able to see how Georgia was without my brother being there and how it would be for me individually.' Georgia Bulldogs football head coach Kirby Smart© Joshua L. Georgia's Confidence Surging on Coveted RB as College Football News Drops This Week

Georgia's Confidence Surging on Coveted RB as College Football News Drops This Week originally appeared on Athlon Sports. One of the top running backs of the 2026 recruiting class re-opened his recruitment after verbally committing to the Georgia Bulldogs. Advertisement But On3's Chad Simmons reported Kirby Smart's program is still feeling good about landing running back Derrek Cooper. "There has been a level of confidence in Athens that they can get Derrek Cooper in this class. Miami is stiff competition," Simmons wrote. "The four-star running back has been committed to Georgia before though. We know there is high interest on both sides. "The mother is a key figure in this recruitment and she likes the staff in Athens. Jared Curtis will be in town and he will make his pitch to Cooper, the playmaker from south Florida." Simmons concluded that Georgia is already a top school for Cooper. But with the running back visiting Athens, Georgia this weekend, Simmons wondered if the Bulldogs could emerge the favorite by Monday. Georgia Bulldogs football head coach Kirby Smart© Joshua L. Jones / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images On3 awarded Cooper a four-star rating. The 247Sports composite rankings, though, have Cooper as a five-star recruit. Coveted Star Issues Promise to Georgia: 'I Won't Forget'

Coveted Star Issues Promise to Georgia: 'I Won't Forget' originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Things remain very much up in the air with the recruitment of five-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson. But after his official visit to the Georgia Bulldogs last weekend, it's rather clear that no matter where the linebacker plays college football, he'll have a place in his mind for Georgia. Advertisement Atkinson suggested as much while speaking to Dawg Nation's Jeff Sentell this week. "I won't forget this visit," Atkinson told Sentell on Tuesday. When asked why he wouldn't forget it, Atkinson was again direct. "That's a good question, but I'm going to keep it to myself on this one." Sentell reported Atkinson's visit to the Bulldogs was "an absolute home run" from the school's perspective. The linebacker appears to share in that feeling. 'They want me there,' Atkinson told Sentell. 'They want me bad. They are doing everything they can to get me there. That's the message.' Georgia Bulldogs football head coach Kirby Smart© Joshua L. Jones / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images The On3 prediction machine has the Bulldogs as the favorite to land Atkinson, but it's a very close competition. Advertisement The prediction machine gives Georgia a 32.8% chance of signing the linebacker. The Clemson Tigers are second at 10.9%. In addition to Georgia, Atkinson has officially visited the Tigers and Oregon Ducks. Sentell wrote the linebacker may see the Ohio State Buckeyes next, but on Thursday, Atkinson tweeted that he plans on visiting the Texas Longhorns again. According to the 247 Sports composite rankings, Atkinson is the No. 1 linebacker and top Georgia prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. Atkinson is also rated the No. 9 overall recruit. Sentell called Atkinson the best inside-the-box linebacker prospect in Georgia since NFL All-Pro Roquan Smith. Advertisement Smith made the All-American team and won the Butkus Award with the Bulldogs in 2017.
