Days of Our Lives Recap: Xander and Sarah Clash Over Victoria originally appeared on Daytime Confidential. On today's Days of Our Lives recap: Titan/DiMera: Stephanie arrives to see Alex. She wants to see if he can head out, but Alex says he has to cover with both Xander and Philip out. He promises they will soon make up for lost time. The couple begin to make out and he leans her over the desk. As they are about to go full press, Kate arrives, and Stephanie makes a quick exit. Kate tells Alex what she walked in on could have been a page out of 'One Stormy Night.' She admits she is loving the book but has misplaced it. He can't imagine what he's going to tell the author. Kate apologizes and says she's been distracted with Philip and John. Alex understands and Kate goes on to say how worried she is someone will take the manuscript and use it as their own. Kate promises to keep looking and Alex says the job offer is still open to her. She says she still has to decline the offer because she couldn't possibly work for Xander. Kiriakis Mansion: Maggie and Sarah are sipping tea and discussing John's funeral. Maggie says dying a hero was fitting for him as it's the way he lived. Maggie remembers Sarah being hit by the car the year before and how John's intuition told him Brady was always innocent (Can we please get Xander's mother back?). Sarah talks a bit about Xander and feels so foolish to have believed he had changed (I don't like the Xander is to blame narrative here). Sarah says she loves Xander but realizes love might not be enough. She can't believe she wasted time feeling so guilty for keeping the secret when Xander did exactly what she thought he would (Again, that doesn't mean you are free and clear Miss Sarah). She talks a bit about their last confrontation and Maggie thinks Xander is trying to blame Sarah for something he has already done. Sarah worries as Xander wants to see Victoria. She knows he would never hurt her nor Victoria but is concerned she'll get sucked back into his orbit. Sarah considers taking Victoria and going on the run. Maggie begs Sarah to be careful. She knows Xander is likely to go to prison, but a judge can rule on a custody battle in all kinds of different ways. Knowing Xander would never hurt Victoria, why in the world would Sarah ever consider going on the run. Horton Square: Xander has bought a dress for Victoria when EJ walks up to give him the business about the hospital vote. Xander tells him to piss off and walks away. Salem PD: Jada and Belle discuss John. Belle says she needs to be distracted and wants to get back to work on Philip and EJ's cases. Jada can't believe Xander was granted bail. Belle says she is deadest on prosecuting him. Shawn Douglas arrives and tells Belle he's there to support her. She has no time and quickly exits. Jada inquires and he says they are just awkward around each other. She says she is sorry for his loss and asks what's up. Shawn D apologizes for lying about being sick the other day. Jada admits she knows the entire story and is thrilled Bo is on the mend. Shawn D is thrilled as well but is devastated by John's passing. He starts to go into the details of the mission, but she stops him, so she has plausible deniability. University Hospital – Philip's Room: Kayla enters, and Kate asks about John's wake. Kayla says it was a perfect celebration of John's life. Kate says she would have been there but needed to be near Philip. Kayla understands and says his labs show much improvement. Kate doesn't want to leave as she fears her son's life is still in danger. She can't wait for him to wake up so he can identify Xander as his attacker. Kate mentions her misplaced manuscript and says she hates she can't read more to him, even though it's somewhat inappropriate. Kate begs her son to wake up so they can catch up. She kisses him on the forehead and exits the room. Brady Pub: Outside, Xander runs into Kayla. She goes off on him and Xander assumes Sarah has poisoned the water. Kayla is furious that his inability to control his anger may have ruined his life for good. With that, she storms off. Xander is sitting on the bench when Sarah calls asking him to meet up. Horton Square: Belle is chatting with Claire about her grandpa John's funeral. She says she is going to wrap up some cases and pay her and Theo a visit. She hangs up but then spots EJ and pretends to still be talking. Just then, EJ walks up and catches her in the midst of pretending. He asks her to be honest if she doesn't want to see him. Belle says she doesn't know if she can deal with their relationship at this point in time. EJ understands but wishes he could be there to support her. With that, he exits. Shawn Douglas walks up and finds Belle alone and asks to talk. He says he just spoke with Claire Bear and learned she is headed soon to South Africa. They agree they could be trusted to visit their daughter at the same time. University Hospital – Lobby: Kayla walks in and doesn't realize the manuscript is on the desk. Jus then, Stephanie arrives to talk to her mother. She asks about her father and closing down Black Patch. Kayla says she is just as concerned but selfishly wants him to lead a safer existence. Stephanie asks if she could host a special dinner to celebrate her father to life his spirits. Kayla thinks it's a great idea and Stephanie makes her exit. Kiriakis Mansion: Xander arrives and wants to talk about Victoria. Sarah says she won't even consider joint custody. He asks what she's considering, and Sarah says he can have supervised visitation at the mansion. She says she will agree to her terms or do nothing and Xander agrees. Xander wants to go upstairs to see his daughter but Sarah gets all kinds of shouty and says she makes the rules now because he tried to kill his brother (Again, this narrative drives me insane). Xander says Sarah is responsible for setting the tone for everything that's happening now. Sarah counters his violent tendencies will be responsible for him missing his daughter's formative years (Ugh). Stephanie's Place: Stephanie arrives home and asks Jada if she's willing to attend a dinner for her father and his retirement. Jada agrees and just then Alex arrives. He begins to undress before he sees Jada behind him. She decides to run an errand and says she will meet up with them at The Bistro later in the evening. University Hospital – Kayla's Office: EJ arrives to see Kayla. He says how much he is looking forward to working together. They go back and forth, and Kayla reluctantly agrees to work with the hospital's new owner. Endings Kayla tells EJ about Bo's miraculous recovery via Versavix. Ej admits to being excited about the money-making potential but also wants to make sure the hospital survives. With that, he presents her with a plan, including changes, that will help the institution move forward. Stephanie tells Alex about the upcoming dinner/celebration for her father, after which they can celebrate. Belle tells Shawn Douglas she is confused about her feelings. He admits he is confused as well. Shawn D says he wants to support Belle in whatever way he can. She gets it and knows she dan count on him. With that, they embrace… just as EJ arrives on the scene. Sarah tells Maggie how much she hates Xander even though she really loves him. Xander arrives in Philip's hospital room… Kate tells Roman she will be home soon. On today's Days of Our Lives recap: Hernandez House: Gabi is having a hard time with work when Javi approaches. She apologizes again for firing him and the way she treated him. She asks what it will take to get him to come back to work. She begs him to say yes but he says he's accepted a new job as a rookie firefighter/paramedic. Gabi asks about experience and Javi fills her in on his experience in Corpus Christie. She's thrilled for her cousins and vows to completely support him. The Spectator: Leo finds out Philip is denying Xander assaulted him. He hangs up just as Chad limps in. Leo rightfully assumes the skydiving is to blame. Chad explains the entire situation including Cat saying she's not going to bother him again. Chad asks about work-related things and Leo says EJ's case has gone cold. He does report Philip is awake, but Xander wasn't the one who beat him silly. Chad tells him to take off and get some rest and the two exit together. Sophia's House: Tate arrives to pick up Sophia who doesn't feel like celebrating. She says she is feeling ok but gets a good swift kick every five minutes. Tate grabs a feel and notes how real everything is getting. Sophia doesn't think she's going to be much fun, but Tate wants her to come along. She's also worried about how close she is to giving birth and how they don't have an adoptive family. Further, she thinks if Tate sees the baby, he won't want to give it up. Horton Square: Holly runs into Arianna Grace and says she's celebrating graduation. Arianna says she would hang but she's having dinner with her parents. They chat a bit about boys when young Douglas walks up and quickly exits. Arianna Grace tells Holly about the guy she hooked up with (sans name). Holly talks about Tate and how he got another girl pregnant. Arianna realizes she's talking about Tate and asks a bit more about the adoption. Arianna says she knows Tate really wants to get back together with her. Holly notes how something always happens when they try to get back together. Just then, Sophia and Tate walk up. Arianna is stunned to learn Sophia is 'Tate's baby mama.' Arianna Grace notes she and Sophia were best buds in kindergarten. Just then, Sophia needs to sit and says the baby has been kicking a lot. She didn't even want to come but Tate convinced her. With that, Tate and Holly head off to retrieve treats leaving Sophia and Arianna to catch up. Arianna Grace asks if Sophia has a thing for Tate. She provides a little history and says she's always kind of crushed on him. Arianna wonders why she's giving up the baby. Sophia says neither of them are ready to become parents and doesn't want Tate with her out of a sense of duty. She thinks they may be able to revisit the situation after the baby is born and adopted. Holly and Tate return with treats when Aaron arrives. Tate immediately embraces his bestie, and he says he's back for graduation. Just then, Holly realizes she needs to call her mother and dashes. Aaron spies Sophia and they discuss the pregnancy. He asks when it's due and Tate says soon. Aaron asks about Holly and Tate thinks they may have a chance after the baby is born and adopted. Greene Central: Cat is cleaning and dancing when Aaron arrives home. She wonders why he's home and Aaron reminds her about graduation. He says he's decided to walk, and their mother insisted he come. With that, he says he's going to meet his friends for a celebration. Brady Pub – Outside: Leo asks Chad if he's ever considered running DiMera as he's the only sane one in the family. Just then, Will walks out of the pub and embraces Chad. An awkward exchange ensues between Will and Leo regarding his collegial relationship with Chadwick. With that, Chad exits leaving Will and Leo to bathe in weirdness. Leo admits to having done many shady things to Will and Sonny. He says he's done a lot of self-reflection and deeply regrets his actions. Will says he saw Leo at the funeral and read the obituary he wrote. He wonders how Leo's life would be different if he'd had the privilege of growing up with John in his life. Javi arrives and Leo introduces him to Will as his boyfriend and Arianna Grace's cousin. Will says they met a while back and says he's late for dinner with Gabi and his daughter. He shakes hands with Leo and tells him to take care. Javi asks Leo about the funeral. Leo notes a bit of his history with John and Javi says it sounds like John was really good to him. He says he has news to cheer him up and says he got the job. Leo is thrilled for his beloved and wants to celebrate. Javi suggests they had back to the house where they can be alone. Brady Pub: Young Douglas goes through the pub mail and finds something addressed to him. He opens the letter and sees pictures of himself and several more of Arianna Grace and Holly. The note inside says it would be a shame if something happened to those pretty faces. Greene Central: Chad arrives, and Cat wonders why. He says he's there to apologize with what happened with Jennifer Rose. Cat thinks her response is totally justified but he disagrees. Chad says he doesn't begrudge Jack and JRo their opinion but they're not going to dictate with whom he socializes. Chad says Abigail is gone and he has to move forward with his life. Cat understands and says she is trying to find a way to move forward after the accident which killed her father and the one which put her in the hospital for two years. Chad suggests they try to move forward together. The Bistro: Gabi arrives and is all by her lonesome. She texts Arianna Grace when Will walks in and they embrace. They take a seat and discuss their daughter's sudden return to Salem. Just then, Arianna arrives and takes a seat. Gabi brings up Arianna Grace sneaking out which annoys her to no end. Will pipes up saying he's not thrilled to learn this information and notes she has broken curfew a few times with him and Sonny. Arianna can't believe they are spending time discussing such trivialities as she is an adult. Her parents both note she isn't paying her own bills nor living in her own place. Hernandez House: Leo and Javi arrive home and are all over each other. Just then, young Douglas arrives with the envelope in tow. Javi decides to leave them alone as he needs to 'go get ready' (Hmmm…). Left alone, Doug shows Leo the contents of the envelope and asks if he could get a loan to get these goons to back down. Leo agrees to give him as much as he can spare. Horton Square: Aaron sits with Sophia and have an adorkably awkward conversation. He notes how before he moved away, he thought they might end up together. Holly tells Tate that her mother said she would be there or graduation (really?). She's also looking at colleges in Europe. Holly wonders if Tate has considered where he will go to school. Tate admits he got into Salem U as after rehab he never got his grades back on track. Holly realizes she is the reason his life was so side-tracked. Endings Young Douglas thanks Leo for helping him with money and support. Leo says he also has a lead on the Horton necklace, but he probably won't be able to afford to buy it back. Leo asks how Doug got into this mess to begin with. Doug says he was delivering merchandise for this man so they could sell it on the down low. One night, he stopped at a bar and met a woman. The next morning his car had been vandalized, and all the merchandise was gone. The men he's dealing with now are even worse. Doug thanks him for his help and support and exits. Just then, Javi comes back in the room saying the room is ready for their celebration. Arianna Grace exits to the restroom and calls young Douglas, and he ignores it. Cat decides she should make Chad dinner, and he agrees to hang out. Sophia is surprised to learn Aaron thought they would end up together. He understands so many things have changed since then which leads Sophia to look over at Holly and Tate. Holly says how badly she feels about Tate taking the blame for her choices. Tate says he always wants to protect and support her. Holly used to believe that was true and then says he should get back to Sophia. She hugs him close before sending him on his way. On today's Days of Our Lives recap: Marlena and John's Penthouse: Marlena walks through her house alone. She says she can't be around anymore death. With that, she grabs flowers from a vase and throws them across the room. Marlena crosses to the cabinet and pulls out John's Yankee cap. She smells it and begins to cry. DiMera Mansion – Living Room: EJ opens a Happy Father's Day card from Sydney. Flashback: Johnny tells EJ he's dead to him. Later, he walks in and holds a gun on his father. Johnny and Chanel's Place: The couple are unpacking when he sees a wrapped gift. He thinks it's for his birthday, but Chanel says it was supposed to be his first Father's Day gift. He says they should keep the gift as someday she will have a reason to give it to him. Chanel pulls out Johnny's gold watch and says he is now all ready for his first day at Titan/DiMera. He wonders if she has time to grab a bite but she says she has to head to work. They kiss and he makes his exit. Chanel immediately makes a call to Felicity and says she won't be in to Sweet Bits until later in the day. EJ arrives and tells Johnny he is sorry about John. They talk a bit about John's legacy and how much EJ thinks he's like his grandfather. He also apologizes for trying to force his son to forgive him. EJ is there to set him free and promises, after tonight, they never have to see each other again. EJ takes Johnny by the shoulders and says he loves him with all his heart. Sometimes loving someone means letting them go. He asks his son if that's what he wants, and Johnny says he doesn't know. Johnny says he hates EJ for what he did to his mother. That being said, he can't deny he's been a good father. Johnny says he's always known he is important to his father and EJ says he would do anything for him. Johnny doesn't know if he can handle losing anyone else. EJ tells him to think everything over and promises to accept his decision. Salem PD – Jada's Office: Rafe arrives just after Jada hangs up with an irate Kate. She asks about FBI training, and he says he's great and ready to get back in the field. He'll be working through the Chicago office, so he'll be able to remain in Salem. Jada asks why he's there and he says he's learned some information about the shooting of EJ DiMera. Jada is surprised to learn Rafe planted a camera in EJ's living room. She asks why she's just now learning about it. EJ says the memory card was stolen and he has no clue how or when. Jada agrees to overlook the pesky B&E and get to work on locating the memory card. Jada and Rafe go through the possible suspects. She starts with Gabi and then they move to Leo, neither of which Rafe thinks are responsible. They effectively eliminate anyone in the Hernandez house and they shift their focus to the DiMera mansion. University Hospital – Philip's Room: Belle brings Philip a smoothie and wants to go over his statement. He says he already told Jada everything. She notes she is his friend and wants to help him get justice. Philip repeats he never saw his attacker. Belle can't understand why a stranger would attack him. She doesn't believe a single word he is saying. Philip is stunned to learn John died. He says Bo and Hope visited him before they left town. Philip freaks out because if he had made it to the drop with Kevin and his actions caused this entire mess. Belle says everything was an accident, but his assault was not. Philiip continues to stick to his story. Belle says she's going to find the truth and makes her exit. Belle reminds Philip she knows why Xander had motive to assault him. Philip gets it but says it wasn't Xander. Belle goes along with it saying maybe he hired someone to do it. She wonders if he said he would keep quiet about Philip's crimes if he remains silent about the assault. Belle implores him to tell the truth as she can't lose another person she loves. University Hospital – Exam Room: Xander tells Sarah the police have dropped all the charges against him. He is looking for an apology because she was dead wrong. Sarah says she's not apologizing as she still believes Xander beat Philip within an inch of his life. She notes he's never once denied being the culprit. Further, Philip would be getting himself in hot water by admitting the truth. Sarah tells Xander they won't be reuniting. He says it was never his intention to reunite. They both agree they can't trust each other. Xander says they need to revisit their custody agreement as he no longer has assault charges hanging over his head. He wants joint custody, but Sarah says she will never agree to that. Xander concludes they will have to do this the hard way and makes his exit. University Hospital – Lobby: Chanel runs into Paulina who is there for her yearly physical. Chanel congratulates her mother on her wedding anniversary. Paulina asks why Chanel is there. She says she is having a follow up appointment to her cancer surgery. Further, she wanted to ask Sarah if it was ok to start trying for a baby. Chanel didn't want to ask Johnny so as not to worry him. Paulina thinks she's making a mistake, but Chanel heads off to her appointment alone. Marlena and John's Penthouse: Belle arrives home and finds her mother in tears. The two embrace and Malena tells her about the baseball cap. Belle thinks she should work remotely the rest of the day, but Marlena wants her to go back to the office. Belle says nothing is more important than her. Marlena asks how Belle is doing, and they both admit the quiet moments are difficult for both of them. She asks about EJ and Belle says she's been having second thoughts about EJ who is allowing her space to work through her feelings. Belle wants to honor her father as she knows he wouldn't approve of their relationship. Marlena says Belle has to live her own life despite what she or John might think. Marlena tells Belle to head back to work. When they rise, she loses her balance. Belle wants to take her to the hospital, but Marlena says she's all good. With that, they embrace, and Belle exits. University Hospital – Philip's Room: Xander thanks Philip for making the right choice in keeping his name out of his statement. Philip said he didn't have much choice after what happened when he woke up. Flashback: Xander is about to put the pillow over Philip's face when he awakens. Xander says the police are going to come question him. Philip says Xander attacked him. Xander sets him straight saying he won't tell the police anything or he will lose his inheritance and stake in Titan/DiMera. University Hospital – Exam Room: Sarah tells Chanel her cancer screening is clear but wants her to wait to get pregnant. She doesn't want to risk a recurrence of the cancer right now. Chanel asks for a timeline and Sarah says it could be months or longer. Sarah knows her words are hard to swallow but says waiting will help ensure a healthy pregnancy. In real-time, Xander says they have to find a way to make their relationship work or they will both lose everything. Philip isn't certain they can possibly work together. Xander takes a seat and says how sorry he is for the assault. He was so furious and explains about the drug acquisition and Sarah's anaphylactic shock. All of it came together to lead him to something he deeply regrets. Philip senses Xander is sincere and apologizes for outing Sarah's part in the cover up. Xander says he's glad Philip told him but says Sarah doesn't know he's the one who exposed her. He says no one can ever know what happened in that hotel room. University Hospital – Lobby: Chanel tells Paulina about the positive bloodwork but then shares the disappointing news about not getting pregnant yet. They chat a bit more before Chanel makes a quick exit to get to work. Endings Marlena stumbles again on her way to the bedroom and lands on the arm of a chair. She looks at a picture of her and John before calling Sarah. Sarah examines Philip who says he's getting stronger by the day. She asks if he was the one who told Xander about her involvement in the cover up. Philip denies the truth and says how sorry he is to learn the truth was revealed. Xander runs into Paulina and says he is planning to contest the decision of the hospital board. He wants to know if he can count on Abe's support. Paulina tells him to focus on what's important, his wife and daughter. Johnny calls in saying he's going to be late. Just then, Chanel returns. He explains what happened with his father. Chanel is thrilled to hear EJ is willing to get gone but Johnny informs her that he's not so sure he wants to completely divorce himself. Chanel is none too thrilled with this turn of events. Rafe and Jada agree someone took the memory card before he snatched it back after the shooting. They admit there are dozens of suspects but are glad to be on the right track. Jada hopes working together in this way means someday they might be friends. EJ is playing chess when Belle arrives and tells him that she needs to follow her heart.
