Popular contacts brand recalls lenses over ‘visual disturbances' defect
A popular contacts manufacturer is recalling several lenses in Canada over a defect that may cause 'visual disturbances.' The voluntary recall is due to an issue with specific types and lots of Acuvue contacts, according to a notice posted Friday. U.S. based manufacturer Johnson & Johnson said in the notice posted by Health Canada that some Oasys Max 1-Day Multifocal contact lenses were found to have a 'high density of microbubbles.' The company explained this as 'microscopic voids' within the lenses that may cause what it described as 'visual disturbances, particularly in low-light conditions.' Johnson & Johnson said microbubbles will not cause medical harm and told wearers to contact it for more information. The company did not say how many of the affected lots were sold in Canada, when they were sold or through which retailers. Acuvue contacts recall ( Lenses of the same name appear to be sold online on sites like and Costco, as well as through eye clinics. The recall does not apply to all Oasys Max 1-day Multifocal contact lenses, but is limited to the following lot and model numbers:

Colorado sheriff ousted as Jackson County prepares for North Park Fair
Jackson County Sheriff Jarrod Poley has been recalled by his community several years after being sworn in as sheriff of the rural Colorado mountain community. Jackson County, which is roughly 1,600 square miles in size, is home to around 1,400 residents. CBS On Tuesday night after months of a public push for a recall vote, Poley was ordered by the voters to return his badge by June 26. The recall comes after some in the community accused Poley of failing to prioritize the safety of students at North Park High School, also accusing him of improperly arresting the school's principal on school grounds during school hours. "The community voted to determine if they would keep the sheriff in his position as the sheriff or recall him," said Coby Corkle, a Jackson County commissioner. In his rebuttal, Poley disputed the accusations in the petition and said he tried to always keep students safe while investigating all tips. CBS Colorado attempted to reach Poley by email; however, his account issued an automated response claiming he had retired. "Small town politics can be difficult. I think Sheriff Poley should have been given the opportunity to finish his term, which was about a year and a half," Corkle said. "Obviously, the community didn't feel the same. This was a community-led initiative." Some residents who wished not to be identified told CBS Colorado they felt a change in leadership in the office was overdue. Some resident who supported the sheriff being replaced said even showing their support had been viewed as somewhat controversial in the town of Walden. However, signs throughout the community were seen supporting Poley being replaced by candidate Dustin "Dusty" Weber, a former deputy who was running unopposed to replace Poley. Some raised concerns that the sheriff had allegedly gone missing from his duties since the Tuesday night vote. When CBS Colorado went to the sheriff's office to try and speak with staff, the door was locked during regular business hours, and nobody answered when a doorbell was activated. The day prior, a sign had been hung at the sheriff's office saying the office was no longer open to the public. "Jarrod Poley is still the acting sheriff," Corkle explained. "I believe he is transitioning himself out." Corkle said 911 calls were still being answered by dispatchers. Deputies were still responding to calls, and he also added that he felt the community was safe. Corkle speculated that the closure of the office during the transition was simply confined to pausing administrative actions and walk-ins like for those seeking to obtain their conceal carry license. Corkle said he has been in contact with both Pokey and Weber in recent days and is confident that residents and visitors will be safe and cared for. He also said multiple agencies in the region have also offered their support, especially as the community prepares to welcome thousands for the 75th annual North Park Fair. "Jarrod did some good things for this community, I hope (residents) remember that. I understand there are some things he did that the community is not happy with, and he is suffering the consequences of that," Corkle said. "Our job is to find a solution and move forward. I think Dustin Weber will be a good sheriff. We want to make sure he has the resources to be successful, and we want to make sure the community is taken care of. Public safety is not something you want to short change."

Ford Pauses Mustang Mach-E Sales Due to Door Lock Issue
Ford Motor Company F is issuing a global recall for around 317,000 Mustang Mach-E vehicles due to a malfunction that could cause drivers to become locked out or, in some cases, leave the occupant trapped inside the recall affects Mach-E models from the 2021 to 2025 model years, both in the United States and abroad. Ford has instructed its dealers not to sell or deliver any affected vehicles, which are manufactured in Mexico, until a forthcoming software update addresses the issue arises when the car is shut off and the occupants exit using the mechanical interior door handles. The doors might stay locked after closing, posing a danger if a child or pet remains inside. Ford warned that in such situations, a person who exits may be unable to quickly re-enter and assist someone still inside who cannot open the door from within, potentially leading to serious harm, especially in high far, Ford says no injuries or accidents have been linked to the defect. The automaker is working on a software fix, expected to become available in the third quarter. Until then, the stop-sale order remains active. While current owners will be eligible for the update, some may need to visit a dealership rather than receiving it over the air. Once the fix is ready, Ford will contact owners via mail to arrange a service appointment at no January through May this year, Ford sold 19,258 Mach-E units in the United States, up 2.8% from the same period last year. In contrast, sales of the gas-powered Mustang fell 18% to 19,309 company recently increased the Mach-E's price by up to $2,000, partly in response to a 25% tariff on imported vehicles and parts imposed by President Donald Trump. Ford estimates these tariffs will cost the company $2.5 billion in 2025, though it aims to offset $1 billion of that through pricing and cost-cutting strategies. Ford Recalls Its Electric Mustang Because The Doors Don't Do Their One Job
Faulty Door Locks Could Lead To Fallout When it comes to recalls of cars sold in America, Ford, Stellantis, and Tesla led the way in 2024 with the most. This year, Ford may retake the title. It recently issued a single recall for almost 1.1 million vehicles, and now there's a new one that affects 197,432 Mustang Mach-E electric crossovers in America and another 120,000-odd from other markets. According to The Detroit News, these EVs may lock themselves with no workaround, which could trap people inside the car or prevent them from entering it. Self-Locking Happens In Certain Scenarios According to the recall documents filed with the NHTSA, the problem occurs when the vehicle has a low 12-volt battery, and then 'the electronic door latches may remain locked once the driver or front passenger exits and shuts the door.' If a child is left in the car when this happens, they may be unable to take advantage of the inner door release handles. Worse still, the car may still not unlock when the 12-V battery is jumped. One Mustang Mach-E Forum user reported that his infant was locked in the car for 40 minutes because of this same sort of problem. While Ford works on a remedy, it has issued a stop-sale recall, so there are likely still affected units at dealers. A Simple Fix, But A Long Wait Thankfully, the fault lies in the vehicle's software, so this won't require a physical fix at the dealer. Ford will update the affected 2021-2025 EVs' powertrain control module and secondary on-board diagnostic control module C software at no cost, and owners should expect notification letters to be mailed on June 23. Once Ford has figured out exactly what to do, it will send a second letter, but unfortunately, the automaker only expects the fix to be ready on September 29. On the surface, software seems like something that shouldn't only go wrong when the car reaches users, but test engineers don't usually test new cars with old or weak 12V batteries. Ford's general quality problems will take years to fix, but the automaker is making efforts, and hopefully, it will fall a little further on the recall leaderboard when 2025 comes to a close. A popular cough medicine for children has been recalled over a risk of bacterial infection that can be deadly. Little Remedies Honey Cough Syrup was recalled Tuesday over the 'presence' of Bacillus cereus, a type of bacteria that can cause two types of foodborne illnesses, and because of 'loss of shelf-stability,' according to a notice from the medicine makers, Medtech Products Inc. The recall describes the symptoms associated with both foodborne illnesses. One can cause nausea, vomiting and stomach cramps starting one to six hours after consuming contaminated food. The second illness can cause stomach cramps and diarrhea starting 8 to 16 hours after exposure. 'Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term illness, exposure to high levels of foodborne B. cereus can cause death,' the recall notice warned. No serious adverse effects have been reported as of the date of the recall. The recalled cough syrup was sold by retailers throughout the country and online from December 14, 2022, to June 4, 2025. Consumers with the recalled medicine are advised to stop using it immediately and contact their doctor if they experience any symptoms that may be related to the product. The company is also offering a refund of the product.
