Trains between Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury disrupted after points failure
Rail passengers are being warned of potential disruption to their services following a points failure and signalling Rail said the failure between Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street was causing disruption to journeys between the two stations on Wednesday.A spokesperson said the issue had since been fixed but disruption was expected until 19:00 BST and some trains might be cancelled or delayed by up to 30 Northwestern Railway and West Midlands Railway passengers have been advised tickets can be used on some other services, with some rail replacement bus services in operation. A limited rail replacement bus service would run between Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton at no extra cost, Transport for Wales (TfW) said.A TfW spokesperson advised passengers could use their tickets on Avanti West Coast services between Wolverhampton and Birmingham in both directions "until further notice".A fault with the signalling system between Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton also meant trains between the two stations were delayed by up to 30 minutes, National Rail added. Weekend railway disruption between Leeds and York set to start
Rail passengers have been urged to check before they travel as five weekends of rail disruption between Leeds and York are due to begin on between the cities, as well as trains between Leeds and Selby, are expected to be affected, with routes diverted via Castleford. Local stations, such as Cross Gates and Garforth, will be served by rail replacement bus services. Weekday services will not be affected. About 3.7 miles (6km) of overheard wire is set to be installed during the disruption. The work will also allow for the demolishing of the Cross Gates Station Road Bridge, as well as the installation of the new bridge framework. The weekends which are set to be affected are 7-8 June, 14-15 June, 21-22 June, 28-29 June and 5-6 July. The disruption is part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) a multibillion-pound project aiming to provide better transport across the Pennines. The whole project is set to be completed in 2041. Adam Sellers, Senior Sponsor for the TRU said that the work would help make the services "faster, greener and more reliable".However he also recognised the disruption it would cause: "My advice for passengers would be to plan ahead. We have put in as much mitigation to this as possible to ensure that people can travel just as they normally would, with potentially longer journeys"I would like to thank the passengers for their patience during this time," he added.

Trains delayed between Wolverhampton and Birmingham after signalling fault
Rail passengers in the West Midlands are being warned of disruption due to a broken down train and a signalling Rail said the issue with the signalling system between Wolverhampton and Sandwell and Dudley on Friday morning meant trains were running at slower speeds on all lines.A spokesperson said lines have since reopened but trains between Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street might be delayed for up to 45 minutes, with disruption expected until at least 08:00 BST. Passengers were urged to check their journeys before travelling, with tickets being accepted on some alternative train and tram routes. National Rail said a train had also broken down between Wolverhampton and Stafford, with some services running through the stations delayed or X, CrossCountry Trains said "due to the theft of signalling cables," between Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton, services would not be calling at Wolverhampton until further notice. Signalling fault disrupts rail passengers
Rail passengers in the West Midlands are being warned of a day of disruption due to a signalling fault. Transport for Wales (TfW) services between Shrewsbury and Birmingham International and West Midlands Railway trains between Shrewsbury and Birmingham New Street are affected, National Rail said. It added trains running between Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton may be cancelled, delayed by up to 20 minutes or reduced. The issues, caused by a problem with the signalling system between Shifnal and Codsall, are expected to last until the end of the day. West Midlands Railway said rail replacement buses were on standby in Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton.
