Former NFL star Adrian Peterson involved in physical altercation during poker game, video shows
Former NFL running back Adrian Peterson appeared to get involved in a physical altercation with a man during a recent poker game. TMZ Sports obtained video of the incident at a May poker event in Houston. At one point, Peterson and another poker player reportedly had a disagreement over playing cards. The situation appeared to escalate quickly with video showing Peterson taking multiple punches near his face. The video lasted for roughly 37 seconds but did not appear to show the fight in its entirety. The former Minnesota Vikings star and the unidentified man both sustained injuries to the face, according to TMZ. Peterson later said he sustained his injury when he fell into a chair. Peterson did acknowledge he had consumed alcohol leading up to the altercation, although he clarified that alcohol was not responsible for the fight. The 40-year-old Texas native compared the incident to "a brother situation." "Me and the guy, we're cool. We've known each other. It was literally like a brother situation," Peterson said. "We agreed to disagree, we had our words and we threw blows — and that was it." The seven-time Pro Bowler added he "felt really bad" about what happened. He also noted that he and the other man involved in the fight were later able to reach an understanding. No one was arrested or charged, and police did not respond. In April, Peterson was arrested on a DWI charge after he attended an NFL Draft party in Minnesota. The Vikings drafted Peterson in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He spent the first decade of his pro career in Minneapolis. Peterson was named the NFL MVP in 2012 and left the Vikings after the 2016 season. Peterson also played for the Saints, Cardinals, Washington, Lions, Titans and Seahawks. Follow Fox News Digital's sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

NFL Legend Adrian Peterson Poker Game Fight Video Going Viral
NFL Legend Adrian Peterson Poker Game Fight Video Going Viral originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Adrian Peterson is among the most accomplished players of his era. But post-NFL career? "AD'' just can't seem to stay out of the news. Advertisement TMZ Sports is revealing footage of a fistfight involving the legendary Peterson and a card player after a dispute over a hand during a poker game. Peterson, 40, was involved in this altercation on May 27 at the JokerStars club in Houston ... and the video is of course going viral. Peterson forged a 15-year NFL career from 2007 to 2021. He starred for the Minnesota Vikings before bouncing around and playing for the New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals, Washington Redskins (now Commanders), Detroit Lions, Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks. In 184 career regular-season games, Peterson rushed for 14,918 yards and 120 touchdowns. He ranks fifth in NFL history in rushing yards and fourth in rushing touchdowns. Advertisement Peterson was also a seven-time Pro Bowler, a four-time First Team All-Pro and the 2012 NFL MVP when he rushed for 2,097 yards, all together making him a leading candidate for eventual induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. After the fight, Peterson apparently spoke to TMZ, noting that he and the man he fought are friends who made up with each other after the fight. "Me and the guy, we're cool,'' Peterson said. "We've known each other. It was literally like a brother situation. We agreed to disagree, we had our words, and we threw blows—and that was it." Peterson suggested that alcohol was involved and that he "felt really bad" after the skirmish occurred and "kind of regrets" that it happened. Advertisement Police reportedly were not called to the scene following the fight, and Peterson tells TMZ that neither he nor the man he fought were punished by JokerStars. Peterson has experienced law enforcement issues over the discipline of his children, his finances and most recently was arrested during NFL draft weekend in Minnesota on a DWI charge. NFL legend Adrian Peterson caught on camera in violent fight leaving multiple people bloodied and bruised
Footage has emerged of former Minnesota Vikings superstar running back Adrian Peterson getting into a fist fight during a poker game in Houston, Texas last month. The video, obtained by TMZ, shows the 40-year-old Peterson squaring up with a fellow poker player over a hand at the JokerStars social club back on May 27. Peterson told TMZ that he and a friend were involved in a disagreement while at a table. Eventually, 'one thing led to another' and the pair raised their fists at each other. Video shows Peterson and his buddy throwing punches for several seconds, despite one person trying to separate them. The former running back ate a number of punches to the face at the beginning of the scrap, but he eventually got back at his counterpart with some haymakers. TMZ says that bloody wounds were visible on the faces of both people involved. However, Peterson claims his injury came from falling into a chair rather than a punch. While alcohol was involved, Peterson told the outlet that wasn't the only reason the situation escalated. "Me and the guy, we're cool," Peterson said. "We've known each other. It was literally like a brother situation. We agreed to disagree, we had our words, and we threw blows -- and that was it." Peterson added: 'I felt really bad. It's a situation where I kind of regret it.' The outlet says that police were not called and are not investigating. The club did not punish either person involved. This is not the first time that Peterson has gotten violent with someone else - having previously been charged win the cases of two domestic disputes. In 2014, Peterson pled no contest to a misdemeanor charge of recklessly assaulting his son after using a tree branch - known as a 'switch' to beat him on his back, buttocks, genitals, ankles, and legs as a punishment. Peterson was punished in a similar manner in his own childhood. The running back was put on probation and fined $4,000 while avoiding a jail sentence. The NFL placed him on unpaid suspension until spring 2015. In February 2022, he was arrested by the LAPD for a domestic violence incident with his wife on a flight from Los Angeles to Houston. After posting bond, his wife said that he did not put his hands on her - rather they had a verbal argument. The charges were dropped. Two months ago, Peterson was arrested for fourth-degree DWI. He was traveling 83mph in a 55mph zone with a blood-alcohol content of .14. Peterson is likely bound for the Hall-of-Fame after winning Offensive Rookie of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, and MVP in his career. In addition to the Vikings, he played for the New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals, Washington Redskins, Detroit Lions, Tennessee Titans, and Seattle Seahawks. He holds the record for most rushing yards in an NFL game with 296.

My Dad Won a Restaurant in a Poker Game — But It Was Losing Money. Now It's a Historic Business.
My dad won a restaurant in a poker game. That was in 1971, the year I was born. I grew up in that restaurant, and now I own it. Our restaurant is called Mr. Henry's, and it's an institution in the heart of Washington, D.C. — just six blocks away from the U.S. Capitol. A lot of people think I can run this place with my back turned. It's old and established, they figure, so what's there really to do? But that's not the case. The restaurant business is never an easy one — especially not today, with the economy the way it is. So I have to keep evolving. But when I look back at the history of Mr. Henry's, I can see that's nothing new. If a business can last long enough to be historic, that's entirely because of its ability to change.
