Klarna offers users mobile plans

Klarna is the latest financial services provider to enter the mobile market, working with Telecom-as-a-Service platform Gigs to launch a phone plan in a host of major markets, beginning with the US. 1 BNPL giant Klarna is offering its 25 million active users in the US a single plan, including uncapped, unlimited 5G data, talk, and text for $40 a month, with coverage on the AT&T network. Citing research showing that half of Americans believe switching phone plans is too difficult, Klarna says its users can transfer their existing number, or get a new one, and activate their phone plan in a few taps within the Klarna app, without any phone calls, paperwork, or store visits. Premium and international plans will roll out later this year, as well as services in the UK, Germany, and other markets. Sebastian Siemiatkowski, CEO, Klarna, says: "Klarna has saved consumers time and money, and reduced financial worry for over 20 years. With mobile plans we're taking that one step further, as we continue to build our neobank offering." The offering comes with an AI twist. "If we have information that suggests you are overpaying for your carrier subscription or your data... [we'll] offer you both a suggestion of a better price model, but also with a click, implement that," says Siemiatkowski. Hermann Frank, CEO, Gigs, adds: "Now, consumers can expect a seamlessly integrated mobile experience that bundles premium connectivity with financial tools, all through the apps they already know and love.' Klarna is following in the footsteps of German neobank N26 and Revolut, who have eached dipped a toe into the water with their own phone plans for subscribers.

Klarna Launches Waitlist for Mobile Phone Plan

Buy now, pay later provider Klarna plans to start selling mobile phone plans in the U.S. in the coming weeks. For $40 a month, subscribers will get unlimited text, talk and 5G data through AT&T's network, Klarna said in a press release. Other consumer brands have sold phone plans, including The Trump Organization and a group that includes Ryan Reynolds and the budgeting app plans to start selling mobile phone plans within weeks. The fintech firm—known for letting consumers break up purchases into four, interest-free payments—launched a waitlist for its mobile plan Wednesday morning. The plan will provide unlimited text, talk and 5G data within the U.S. through AT&T (T) for $40 a month, according to a press release. 'Klarna has saved consumers time and money, and reduced financial worry for over 20 years. With mobile plans we're taking that one step further, as we continue to build our neobank offering,' Klarna CEO Sebastian Siemiatkowski said in a statement. Buy now, pay later firms' growth has slowed, prompting Klarna and its counterparts to start offering additional services to their customers. Some of these firms aspire to evolve into a digital 'neobank' by offering alternatives to traditional bank accounts, as well as debit and credit cards. Other well-known players have gotten involved with mobile phone plans. Actor Ryan Reynolds became an owner of Mint Mobile, which bought and resold service provided by T-Mobile (TMUS). (T-Mobile purchased the brand last May, the provider said.) The Trump Organization announced earlier this week that it is also selling mobile phone plans. Klarna has had a relatively eventful year. The company filed a registration statement with the U.S. Securities in Exchange Commission in March as it prepared to hold an initial public offering. Klarna tabled its plans in April as the White House imposed tariffs on several U.S. trading partners. Donald Trump Wants You To Use His New $47 Mobile Plan With A $499 Gold Phone Made In America

President Donald Trump may have a solution to costly mobile phone plans and smartphones like Apple Inc's (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone being produced in other countries. Trump Mobile is launching soon. Here are the details. What Happened: President Trump's sons Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. unveiled Trump Mobile during an event at Trump Tower in New York on Monday, with details of a new mobile phone service to be the latest product launch from the president. "We've partnered with some of the greatest people in the industry to make sure that real Americans get true value from their mobile carriers," Trump Jr. said, as reported by Bloomberg. Trending: Maker of the $60,000 foldable home has 3 factory buildings, 600+ houses built, and big plans to solve housing — Trump Mobile will operate on U.S. wireless networks with phones that are "made in America," according to the company. Plans on Trump Mobile will offer unlimited calling and texting to more than 100 countries, along with features like telemedicine help and roadside assistance. Customers will be able to use their existing phones or purchase a Trump-branded phone, called the T1, which will be made in America. The Verge reported a $499 gold version of the phone with a currently listed release of September 2025, which is available for preorder now with a $100 deposit. Trump Mobile will offer plans such as "The 47 Plan," which costs $47.45 per month, a nod to Trump's being both the 47th and 45th president of the United States. Terms of Use for Trump Mobile say the network is "powered by Liberty Mobile," a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) using the T-Mobile network. "Trump Mobile is going to revolutionize cellphones, mobile calling," Eric Trump told Fox News on It's Important: The new phone company and phone service could test the waters of loyalty for Trump fans and see if they can disrupt the "Big 3" wireless operators in the United States. AT&T Inc (NYSE:T), Verizon (NYSE:VZ) and T-Mobile US (NASDAQ:TMUS). T-Mobile U.S. could end up being the winner in the launch as it is the MVNO being used. T-Mobile also provides its network for other cheaper mobile offerings like Mint Mobile, Metro and U.S. Mobile. Trump's sons emphasize the importance of the Trump Mobile phones being made in the U.S., but questions remain about whether they will be from the start or if that is the future goal. The push for made-in-America phones comes as Trump battles Apple over their smartphones being made in China and India, with the president placing tariffs on phones made in other countries. The launch of Trump Mobile follows some celebrities who have dipped their toes in the telecommunications market. Ryan Reynolds was an investor in Mint Mobile, which sold to T-Mobile in 2023. Actors Will Arnett, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes, the trio behind the "SmartLess" podcast, recently announced a new mobile company called SmartLess Mobile. One potential red flag and conflict of interest for Trump Mobile will be the president's involvement in the company and the fact that FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, a Republican appointed by Trump, will oversee the company's regulation. Trump and his family's launch of a mobile network follows several recent business ventures since he first became president, including a social media network, NFTs, bibles, sneakers, a meme cryptocurrency, and more. I've had Visible for a month, and this is the one thing I wish someone had told me before I joined

Joe Maring / Android Authority A little over a month ago, I made a big change in my cell phone world; after 10 years of being a T-Mobile customer, I jumped ship and joined Visible. Not entirely sure what to expect with such a dramatic transition, I've been very pleased with Visible so far. The sign-up process was easy, my service has been great, and I'm really happy with the price I'm paying. As well as things have gone, there has been one hiccup that I wasn't expecting. It's far from a dealbreaker, but it's something I didn't realize until after my first month with Visible — and I wish someone had told me about it sooner. Have a plan with HD video? You probably aren't using it Joe Maring / Android Authority Visible has three plans you can choose from: Visible, Visible Plus, and Visible Plus Pro. The last two plans are Visible's more premium options, offering features like faster 5G speeds, better hotspot performance, and more extensive international coverage. The plan you choose also dictates the kind of video streaming you can do on Visible's network. If you sign up for the basic Visible plan, video streaming is capped at just 480p SD. However, if you have Visible Plus or Visible Plus Pro, video streaming quality increases to 1080p HD or 4K UHD, respectively. Simple enough, right? You'd think so, but that's not all there is to it. While digging through the Visible app one day, near the end of my first month of service, I stumbled across something interesting. On the Account page under the Get the most out of Visible section, you can swipe through to see your various benefits, such as any Global Passes you have and your smartwatch service. At the end of the list is an option for HD Video. I assumed this would just be an informational page about the 4K UHD max streaming quality that comes with my Visible Plus Pro plan, but lo and behold, there was more to it — specifically, an option to enable said streaming quality. By default, Visible plans with HD/UHD video streaming quality apparently don't have this feature enabled by default. Instead, you have to manually enable it yourself … in a sub-menu buried deep in the Visible app … one that the company never tells you about. I really wish Visible had informed me about this itself. I started digging around online to see if I had somehow turned this off by mistake when setting up my account, but that's not what happened. As it turns out, a few users in the r/Visible subreddit have also reported needing to enable HD streaming for their accounts. It seems like something Visible added fairly recently (within the last six months or so), and as thankful as I was to find that Reddit thread, I really wish Visible had informed me about this itself. One of the main reasons I chose the Visible Plus Pro plan is for its 4K UHD video streaming, and to have gone a month without that because I didn't tap a toggle Visible never told me about is just silly. If you're a Visible customer, did you know about the HD Video setting? 0 votes Yes NaN % No NaN % A silly, unnecessary hoop to jump through Joe Maring / Android Authority In Visible's defense, it isn't the first carrier or MVNO to pull something like this. T-Mobile had a similar setting for my old ONE Plus plan, and Verizon and AT&T do this, too. It's annoying and unnecessary, but from the carriers' perspective, that's why they do it. They're still providing you with the high-quality video streaming you signed up for; they just aren't turning it on for you, and they're banking on the fact that you'll forget to do it or won't know how — thus saving them network resources and money in the process. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that Visible also does this (it is owned by Verizon, after all), but it feels at odds with Visible's otherwise consumer-friendly approach to almost everything else it does. I'd expect an annoying hoop like this from one of the big carriers, but part of me thought Visible would be better. But hey, maybe that's what its owner, Verizon, is banking on. If so, you got me. Going a month without the best video streaming quality is ultimately just a small bump in the road, and once I realized what I had to do, it took all of five seconds to activate my plan's HD video capabilities. No harm, no foul. Still, I would have liked to have known about this sooner. If you're thinking about joining Visible or have recently signed up, at least I can give you the heads up I wish I had gotten. Visible - Plans starting at $25 a month for a limited time!
